Thanks for replying Ally. I understand and agree with paying a fair wage. Service is an integral part of sitting down at a restaurant so there is no point in highlighting a separate "service charge." If it's mandatory, it should be reflected in the price of the food. Gratuity is important to encouraging good service and it should be up to the customer. I don't agree that a mandatory service charge is a "modern" approach. Yes, it is a trend that restaurants are pushing but it creates perverse behavior. A gratuity decided by the customer incentivizes the right behavior and makes your job as a manger easier because the customers are helping drive the right behavior. Many other industries are moving to a pay for performance model while restaurants are moving backwards. Based on reading the reviews, a great many of your customers feel the same way. I will try Tavolata (ESR) again but only if the 22% mandatory service charge is removed.

Late post -- Went here for Seattle Restaurant Week in late April. Glad we made reservations, the place was pretty busy considering it was early in the evening. There's the bar, lounge, dining area. There are a couple of garage doors that I imagine open up during the summer.Got seated overlooking the open kitchen. Too bad the counter is high so we didn't see them in action. Noticed that wait staff was quick to pick up orders that were ready and that there were no heat lamps (so you know you're food isn't sitting too long). The Seattle Restaurant Week Menu - 3 course meal for $50Our first course choices were:- Grilled Octopus - Cannellini Beans, N'Duja, Calabrian Chili, Salsa Verde - this dish was delicious. Octopus was tender and the beans had a nice heat to it. I just wished the ratio of Octopus to beans was better (had a lot of beans and not enough Octopus).- Beef Tartare - Dijon, Caper, Cornichon, Quail Egg, Sunchoke - another delicious dish! Beef tartare was tasty. Our second course choices were:- Potato Gnocchi - Snails, Garlic, Parsley, Butter - I wanted to try this dish because of the snails. Heavy dish but it was good. Just like escargot, it was swimming in butter. Delicious dish but I can only eat so much of it because of the richness.- Pappardelle - Beef & Pork Ragu, Tomato, Mint, Chili, Orange, Grana Padano - Although both dishes were really good, I liked this one just a tad better. Mainly because it wasn't too rich. The meat to pasta ratio was decent. Our third course choices were:- Zeppole - Lemon Zest, Powdered Sugar, Chocolate Sauce - YUMMY! I highly recommend this dessert! Dough was light and dipped in the chocolate sauce...wow! The chocolate sauce was perfect! Not too sweet. - I can't remember what my companion ordered. It's not on their regular menu, but it was also good. For drinks we had the Manhattan and Frank the Tank -- both were goodService was good. Was it worth the automatic gratuity of 22%?....Compared to other establishments who have similar set-up, no.

Tavolata, which means Table in Italian, is an exercise in pasta knowledge. Honestly, it's all about knowing which pastas you like. I ordered Tonnarelli because I wanted a Cascio e Pepe. Unfortunately, it turned out that I'm not a Tonnarelli fan. My friend got the Papardelle with Beef Cheek Ragu which was wonderfully delicious. Spicy but not too spicy, meaty and most reminiscent of elevated, way elevated SpaghettiOs. You'll be in your comfort zone. I'm interested to go back to ask if they'll pair my favorite pasta with my favorite sauce. For example, pappardelle with casca e pepe. Wasn't a fan of the focaccia. I think focaccia as smooth like pillows and this is more textured like sourdough. It's just a texture thing.Ambiance is nice. We sat next to the special events room and they should have closed the door because the party was very loud. But all in all, it was a vibrant, happening dining room with other large and small parties enjoying their meals. I'd go back again. There is a 22% service charge, which they warn you about and some think it's tad excessive. I'd be happier with 18% and better service. Once the place got busy, we didn't get too much attention and had to flag people down. Word to the wise, if you're going to charge 22% service charge, you should really give stellar service to every table. I was happy to see that they seemed to have been able to hire qualified people on the eastside post-pandemic. Congrats. I'll be back.

We came for our NYE meal 2023 (going into 2024) Foie Gras Mousse 10/10 Arancini 7/10Lobster Crudo 11/10Burrata 10/10Squash soup 9/10Celery Root Ravioli 9/10Steak 10/10Scallops 10/10Zeppole 10/10The stand outs of the meal and OMG it was an incredible meal was the lobster crudo I have never tasted anything so perfectly balanced and luxurious in my life!! I kid you not I'm not a huge lobster fan I feel it's mostly overrated but wow, just wow. The scallops and Foie Gras were legitimately some of the best flavors I've come across in a long time. Now here's my issue... we then came back as the experience was amazing and the meal extraordinary so of course we have to come back! I cannot emphasize enough how terrible the service was. Slow is not the word for it, inattentive isn't either, there was such a lack of care that it would have been laughable if it wasn't so unprofessional. As many comments have mentioned you then add insult to injury when there is a mandatory 22% for service that is atrocious. No thank you

I LOVE this place for pasta. The Tavolata salad is so fresh and delicious. We almost tried all of their pasta and all of them were so good. The only suck part is finding parking how ever if you do find one they'll validate for you.

Tavolata has a cool space and an exciting menu, but the service isn't really up to par. I made reservations in the lounge, which was totally the right call. We loved sitting down on the couches and it had a really good vibe! The staff also singed a birthday card since I mentioned there was a birthday on the restriction. Such a nice touch! It took 25 minutes before anyone got our drink order. We continually made eye contact with our server and tried to wave him over but it didn't work. By the time he finally came over, he seemed confused why we wanted him. The service was really slow, inattentive, and cold all night. At the end, we found out that Tavolata includes a 22% gratuity no matter what, which made a lot of sense. The staff clearly wasn't working for tips. Our drinks were a mixed bag. I loved my white sands mocktail! So many cool non alcoholic options. The martini was all vodka, so we had to request olive juice on the side. The food was decent. They have one style of gluten free pasta which was a pretty standard option. I liked my gluten free pasta, but it didn't have much shrimp on it. I found the prices to be high for the quality, but we went for BOGO pasta Monday so there weren't many complaints. I loved the birthday card, but thought for sure there would be a birthday dessert and was let down. Our waiter was super lazy, so it wouldn't surprise me if he just forgot. I would go again in a few months since I think this spot has a lot of potential. There is clearly an issue with some of the staff and some work that could be done otherwise, but it's beautiful and has a creative menu.

To start off, a 22% service charge is a bit unexpected. The service far from warranted this level of charge as we waited almost 20 minutes for anyone to acknowledge our presence. The server did not seem to want to be there and service left a lot to be desired. The food was good - I got the gnocchi and it was flavorful and a huge portion size. I loved the amount of mocktails they had as well.Overall, for the price we paid and the level of service, can't say it would make it in my usual rotations.

We tried their Seattle Restaurant Week menu on 10/31/2023. We walked in without a reservation and were seated immediately. We loved the interiors, they have a main dining area, and a bar/lounge area that would be great for happy hours. We started with Burrata and Roasted Beets. I absolutely loved the Burrata, the Roasted Beets were good.We then got Paccheri, and Rainbow Trout. We loved both the pasta and the entree. The prawn in the Paccheri was chopped up making it easy to eat with the pasta. For dessert, we got Lemon Zeppole, and Chocolate Gelato. We loved them both. The Lemon Zeppole was light and the chocolate sauce that it came with amazing. The gelato was good, the shortbread cookie it came with was amazing. We will definitely be back to try their regular menu.

6/7/2024 Weekend brunch with my doggo :)On a sunny afternoon, my partner and I decided to explore Tavolàta Redmond by the promise of fresh pasta and the allure of outdoor seating. As we settled into our cozy spot, our dog happily wagging his tail, we knew we were in for a treat! The outdoor seating area was perfect for the pleasant weather, and our furry companion seemed equally content. The wooden tables and charming decor set the stage for a relaxed meal. The Tavolàta Salad: We started with the Tavolàta Salad, a delightful mix of fresh greens, cherry tomatoes, and tangy vinaigrette. It was a refreshing way to kick off our meal.Pappardelle Pasta: The wide ribbons of pasta were perfectly cooked, with a tender bite. The sauce, a rich blend of slow-cooked ragù, clung to the noodles, creating a harmonious flavor profile. The servers were friendly and attentive, ensuring our glasses were never empty and our dog had a bowl of water. Their genuine smiles made us feel welcome! It's these small gestures that elevate a dining experience.Whether you're a pasta aficionado or simply seeking a delightful meal, this restaurant delivers. With the sun on our faces, our dog by our side! We left Tavolàta with full hearts and satisfied taste buds.

We have been using Tavolata as our Friday afternoon cocktail spot for a while and enjoying the wonderful surroundings, views of the park and ok priced drinks (during happy hour that is). We finally decided to sit down and eat something in the restaurant. The first thing we noticed is that they had changed their Burrata and grilled peaches appetizer which was amazing and which we enjoyed all summer to a pine nut and burrata concoction which is nice but, darn i missed the peachesFor main course we did 2 pastas and the pork rack. The pasta dishes were very nice, we thought the pork was great until we got to the bone pieces to find it was way undercooked. Im not a fan of rare pork chopsOverall, it's a fantastic location, we love the drinks, the pasta dishes are nice if a little pricey and we will not be ordering pork there again. We will be back lots to take in cocktails and apetizers in the beautiful bar area but our visits to the restaurant area will be limited.
