This is the second and newer location of the Taste of the Himalayas in La Jolla. I love the original restaurant on Midway Dr, but their parking situation is terrible as the strip mall lot is cramped without many spaces. The parking is much more plentiful here at the Renaissance Towne Center but beware of more vehicles during the lunch and dinner hours. The restaurant was in a corner suite that can seat about 30 customers at the tables and another six at the bar surrounding the service counter. They also had a few tables outside on a small patio.The menu was the same as the rest of the TOTH franchise. I ordered a mildly spicy Chicken Saag with white basmati rice along with a basket of plain naan. The food took a while to come out of the kitchen, and they even forgot to provide the complimentary cup of dahl (lentil) soup until I asked a server. The portion size seemed smaller than the OG location, but the spinach flavor of the saag was equally as good. I rated my dining experience with 3.5 stars as there is something about the Midway spot that I feel makes it stand out more.

I've never had Himalayan dumplings so I ordered their recommended Lamb Momos. Unfortunately, it was mediocre; I don't know whether momos pale in comparison to Chinese or Taiwanese dumplings and/or momos just aren't the restaurant's forte.Out of curiosity, I'll try momos again--but at a different restaurant.

Came for an early dinner. Service was quick. They started off with a complimentary lentil soup which was absolutely delicious. My friend ordered the tikka masala which was also yummy. Especially with the herbal naan to dip with. Most places make their naan's thick but theirs was slightly in the thin and crisp side which was so good. I kind of liked that crisp texture. I wanted something small because I wasn't that hungry and I also love dumplings. So I wanted to try their momo's because I've never had it. Couldn't decide which flavors to get so I ordered the 9pc which is 3 of each flavors, lamb, chicken and veggie. The veggie was on the spicy side but the sauce which was super flavorful with spices gave it a nice balance. My favorite of the three would be the chicken and lamb. And oh my gosh, can't miss out on the mango lassi. I don't know what they added to theirs but this was the best mango lassi I've ever had. And I've tried other Indian restaurants but this made me want a second glass. Don't know if it was the mango being sweet but some other mango lassi's I've had would be on the tart side because of the yogurt. Seems like they might've add something else too because it was definitely different also not too sweet but so good!!

4 stars for food, 4 stars for service. Came here on a Wednesday afternoon for their lunch deal. The restaurant wasn't busy or filled at all.Their lunch deal is great value, especially if you're someone looking to try a bunch of new things. I believe it was $13.95 without tax to try two entrees served with rice, naan, and lentil soup! We chose the chicken tikka and goat curry house special for our entrees. Unfortunately so basic, but my favorite thing was the chicken tikka masala (and I usually never order it to try other things). The goat curry was way too salty. We also ordered their chicken tandoori (a tad dry and the veggies underneath were on the sour side) and lamb daal (lamb was good but also $20+ for not that much). Our orders of Naan and Roti came out maybe 10 minutes after our food arrived, but at least you know it's freshly made? They also charged us normal price for our beverage at first, even though it was discounted on the lunch menu. Overall, a very satisfying experience though!

Food is consistent whether dine in or take out the garlic naan is pretty good. Recommend the chicken tikka masala if you are new to Indian food! Friendly service but parking sucks.

I came here to pick up some take-out for my sister, my 2 year old niece, and myself. I came a little earlier than the estimated time they gave me, so I waited inside the restaurant and it was cute. The vibe and ambiance was nice, it was fairly empty, but that is never going to be a problem for me lol.What we got:Plain naan: this was good, I usually like the garlic one, but this was my niece's preference. Mild Chicken Tikka: flavorful, delicious, and a perfect dish to dip the naan into.Momos: delicious and the sauce they come with compliment them really well.Samosas: crispy, fried, deliciousness. I love the tamarind sauce they come with too, my one complaint would be that I wish they gave an extra little container of the sauce, but it's not a big deal.

AN ABSOLUTE DYNAMITE EXPERIENCE!!!The service is so warm and the family is beyond inviting.The tikka masala is firing on ALL CYLINDERS here, rich development of such complex flavors. HEADS above so many other iterations of this dish that are so much more expensive for a lesser outcome. THIS place is the real deal.Exceptional food and even better people!The Lamb Momo & the Naan were also wonderful!Forgot to take pictures of it all, but it didn't stand a chance!
