After our success with our wedding cake years ago, I used Tara's services again for my dad's birthday about two years ago. She created a wonderful custom cake for him that he loved, and she worked closely with me to make sure it would be perfect.That's why I decided to use her services AGAIN for my baby's 1st birthday party, which is a huge deal in Korean culture. I knew I didn't want anyone other than Tara to make the main birthday cake. She was very responsive from day 1, even though she was on vacation and I wasn't expecting a reply until she was done! On top of that, she made sure to listen to every request and make sure every detail would be perfect. She even made a bunch of recommendations as to how cupcakes would be easier to serve to people that ended up saving us some money as well as making the serving process that much easier! Everyone gushed about how cute her cake was, and my baby loved the smash cake she made! Thanks again, Tara!

Can I give 10 stars?! I recently used Tara Heather Cake Design for the desserts while planning a holiday party for my husbands team at work - And man.. She knocked it out of the park! These desserts are the best I've experienced in San Diego and everyone at the party was drooling over the assortment we had! Thank goodness we had to-go boxes for any leftovers, and let me tell you.. the treats were scooped up quick! The ordering process was easy as it's all done via her website: https://www.taraheathercakedesign.com - You can choose as many or as few desserts as you'd like {depending on the minimum order spending limit}. After my order was placed, Tara and I coordinated a day, time and place to pick up my order {but I do believe that delivery is available - Pickup was just the best option for me}. The service received from Tara was beyond exceptional and I would HIGHLY recommend her for any and all of your dessert needs! What did I order: 2 dozen Mini Cupcakes {Chocolate}, Snickerdoodle Cookies, and Lemon Tartlettes {Flaky, French Pastry Crust filled with a Tart Lemon Curd & topped with a dollop of torched Meringue or Whipped Vanilla Buttercream} - These were a fan favorite! From the moment I picked up the desserts, I was drooling over the sweet, intoxicating smell and when I "taste tested" {insert winky face emoji here} the Lemon Tartlets.. WOWZA.. these babies were Amazing - We were lucky they actually made it to the event because I could have devoured all of them! If you are looking for desserts for a special occasion, THIS is the place to go! You can immediately see how much love and care Tara puts into her desserts - Do not miss out on these sweet treats! Side note - I wish I took pictures {but they disappeared so quickly}, because not only did they taste phenomenal, but the presentation was immaculate! If you choose Tara for your desserts needs, you will thank me later.. and please.. bring me a few Lemon Tartlettes! ;-)

I am so happy I booked with Tara for my wedding desserts! We wanted a dessert table instead of a big cake and Tara delivered! I don't personally like wedding cake, but wanted a small cake to cut and it was the best tasting cake I had ever had. All of our guests raved about the macarons, cookies and mini crème brûlées. My step kids who are very picky said the macarons were the best they had ever had and my husband was literally eating cookie crumbs out of a ziplock bag of leftover cookies the day after our wedding. Tara set up all of the stands and signs and made a beautiful table. Definitely hire her for your dessert table or wedding cake!

Event Date: 01/15/2023I am two months late on this review. In early December 2022, I contacted Tara Heather Cake Design to make the smash cake and cupcakes for my son's 1st Birthday. She responded within a couple of days and was available to make the cake and cupcakes. Throughout the planning process, she was very responsive and professional. I gave her some inspiration photos for the theme of my son's 1st birthday party, which was Super Mario. The cake was a 6" round custom cake (chocolate w/ chocolate fudge mousse + vanilla bean buttercream fillings and finished with buttercream), which cost $196. The 55 cupcakes (1/2 chocolate w/chocolate fudge mousse w/primary color sprinkles, 1/2 vanilla w/vanilla bean buttercream w/primary color sprinkles) cost $178.75 ($3.25 each) with a delivery fee of $54. She delivered before I arrived at the venue. When I saw the cake and cupcakes, I thought she captured the theme perfectly. The cupcakes were delicious. My son didn't smash his cake because he was crying, but at least the cake was beautiful. I highly recommend Tara Heather Cake Design for all your event desserts. Also, as best practice for any event, contact a baker well in advance (a minimum of a month). I tried getting her to make desserts for my baby shower in 2021, and I made the mistake of contacting her too late (two weeks before the event) and she was fully booked. I am glad I got her to make the desserts for my son's 1st birthday party, and was money well spent.

Wow, wow, wow! We are so happy we booked Tara as our wedding dessert caterer! She offers a WIDE variety of vegan dessert options for weddings in San Diego, CA! Most of our desserts were vegan except two I think, The macaroons and chocolate pretzel rods. The cake was a semi-naked finish vegan beet red velvet cake! So yummy!!! I really wish we could have gotten more than one bite with several of our wedding desserts. Unfortunately, how weddings go, we only had a couple of bites of some of the desserts. We ordered: - 4" + 6" Tiered Semi-naked Finish Vegan Beet Red Velvet Cake- Vegan Cake Shots- Vegan Chocolate Salted Chunk Cookies (My favorite!)- Vegan Snickerdoodle Cookies- Vegan Hand Pies (Mixed Berry, Apple) Super popular at the wedding- Vegan Cheesecake Bars (Mocha & Raspberry-Lemon)- Vegan Double Chocolate Fudge Cookies (Super good!)- Vegan Mini Cupcakes (Vanilla with Coffee Buttercream and Red Velvet with Vanilla Butter Cream)Chocolate Pretzel Rods (Not Vegan)French Macaroons (Not Vegan but SUPER POPULAR at the wedding, they were the first to go)Thank you so much Tara for making these delicious decadent desserts for our wedding! They tasted and looked amazing. :) There aren't many wedding dessert caterers that offer a large selection of vegan options in the San Diego area. We had Tara's desserts at our wedding and they were so good and they went so fast we (bride and groom) didn't even get any. Haha. But they were beautiful and everything we ate during our tasting was perfect.

Such an amazing experience booking with Tara for my wedding this past weekend!! I actually booked her in 2020 and tried samples of her cakes and desserts - everything was so delicious so I knew I couldn't go wrong booking with her! She was so so wonderful to work with especially with advising me on how many desserts to order and what kinds of flavors work well together. My wedding was initially in 2021 but we decided to postpone to 2022 due to COVID and I made a mistake and forgot to officially set the new date with Tara. I posted on IG about my new date and she caught that which caused me to not have to pay a fee which I'm so thankful about. This just shows how great her character is and she's just a honest entrepreneur that I so admire. For my wedding day, Tara came on time and set up everything all by herself and did such an amazing job!! Everyone loved the desserts and Tara was so kind to set aside some for me and husband to eat when we had time. I can't recommend Tara enough!!

Where do I begin?! Tara worked with me entirely virtually and with just a few inspo photos to create a gorgeous wedding cake for my husband and me. We ordered lavender cake and used the sizing estimates provided on her website to know how much cake to provide because we didn't want leftovers! It was the exact perfect amount for each guest with just one slice to spare. The cake itself was perfect, not to sweet and a beautiful butter cream exterior. I ordered my own cake topper and stand by her recommendation and they worked perfectly. I'm so pleased with the job she did on my cake and hopefully this is who I come for for more of our life moments! Planning a wedding is tough enough and we have to put so much trust in vendors with no idea what outcome will come from it. Trust Tara with your event cake is all I'll say! Highly recommend

Tara is the BEST! She's designed cakes for our events for 4 years. She legitimately delivers the level of design you see in her gallery - the cakes are beautiful and taste just as good as they look. Her communication is also five star - she is responsive and professional and knowledgeable and friendly.I want to give an extra nod to taste here. I'm not a fan of wedding/store/birthday cakes that taste like nothing. (Yes that might make me a cake snob!) Tara's cakes are nothing like that - they are velvety and rich and light and awesome. The buttercream maintains these great colors and designs but tastes like the real thing mom used to make. We typically go for chocolate w/espresso buttercream and lemon raspberry (with vanilla + fruit filling as the kids' favorite).

Highly recommend using Tara for your wedding day or special event!!! She was a pleasure to work with from start to finish, super responsive and is insanely talented. My wedding cake was a hit and absolutely delicious! I'm already brainstorming ways I can order from her again. Thank you Tara for making my vision come to life and for helping make my big day so special!
