Came recently for lunch at this unexpectedly good taqueria in Kenwood. It's in a little strip mall in a not great looking area but is convenient to the 47th Street bus line. Taqueria Veritas has a Mexican menu including of course tacos. Basically these are what's recommended, but there's certainly other stuff one can get. You can also find many incredible vegetarian protein options if not wanting beef, pork, or any meats. A hard to find place if you've never been here before. It's away from the street a bit in a plaza. The inside is very small, and you order at the counter and can sit at the couple of tables or by the window. Most people seem to get carryout. The first time here I ate inside. I got the Taco Dinner. It's about $12 for 3 tacos. There's a protein choice including one for vegans. Also this comes with a side, and I got rice and beans. The vegan protein choices were soy steak, tofu, and vegetables. I got one of each. The soy steak was actually tofu but it was firm and seasoned like steak. The tofu one was softer and had a fluffy texture. Good place to pop into at lunch. It doesn't have much room inside so don't bring a lot of people though. The menu has mostly tacos but there's many kinds of these including good choices for vegans and vegetarians.

I usually order a steak burrito from Varitas but today I felt like trying something different. I decided on a torta de milanesa and do I regret it. The meat is so dry it's like biting into breaded and fried beef jerky. Perhaps with a different protein this would be a good option. The bread was good, it's served on a bolillo not a telera. They do add sour cream, cheese, avocado, a tiny bit of shredded lettuce, diced tomatoes and onions, and refried beans. It seemed expensive but maybe because I didn't enjoy it, the dinner was $13.75 plus $3.00 for a small horchata. Overall, I would still highly recommend this restaurant just don't order the milanesa.

This place is a five star dive in for me. Awesome food! Awesome people. Awesome prices. I had the chorizo burrito and I tried the chicken burrito. Chorizo burrito was good but the chicken...it was perfect! So much flavor and so good with every bite. Definitely must get! Highly recommend this place

Called in a quick lunch order for three corn tacos (2 chicken and one chile relleno), a chicken burrito and an order of chips and pico. the woman taking the order was very polite, repeated my order to me and told to come by in 20 mins. Tab was about $30.They have a small dining area if you want to eat there, but I took my order to go. Food was ready as promised and was above average in quality/taste. I will definitely order again to try other menu items.

This used to be my favorite place to get tacos. I have patronized this business for many years since before the pandemic. The food has been hit or miss with more misses lately due to food being dry & lack of flavor, but I continued to give them my business despite the prices continuing to going up (though this is everywhere). But lately the customer service has been either great or subpar. This business also has blind/hidden charges. They don't tell you about the charges, it's not on the menu & they're not itemizing them on the receipt. Therefor beware. Then when you ask about it or request that they begin being more transparent about their pricing, the female owner wants to argue with you & tell you they can't tell everyone all of the charges, instead of admitting they're committing fraud & price gouging with some items. If you eat here, make sure they're not charging for items that are usually complementary & make sure you know what you're being charged for.

Woman answered the phone would not let me talk to manager had attitude as soon as I asked for a manager my fiancé went in there and they were being so rude and disrespectful to him! When I called to speak with manager for incident lady said ima disconnect the call right now . Rude from the beginning wouldn't give me her name was being mean and rude over the phone!! It's sad to see people treat their customer like this even after receiving tip! Would never support any rude business!!! I recorded call too.
