Taqueria el Gym is a nice little place in old Renton downtown. Not at all fancy which is just the way I like it for this kind of food. And for such a small place it was pretty busy so that should encourage you to go there. My friend very much enjoyed his meal, shrimp in what looked like a garlic sauce. I however wasn't blown away by the beef in a green sauce. In fairness the owner sort of hinted that it would be spicy. I like some heat, but the other flavors were dominated by it. Couldn't taste much else. Although the menu had many of what you expect to find at a taqueria, I didn't see anything that really grabbed me. You order at the counter looking up at a menu on the wall with other customers waiting behind you. I might have enjoyed another dish more. Most dishes come with the usual mushy refried beans and yellow rice you find in a lot of Mexican restaurants in the United States. Somehow that didn't seem like a good thing to me. My friend is a little hard of hearing. The tv noise in this very little place was distracting for him so we didn't get to have all our usual catch up conversation when we get together for lunch. So all in all, I'd eat there again but wouldn't make it a go to destination.

Love this place. Hands down one of the best burrito joints i've tried. If you're craving decent sized authentic mexican burritos, come here. I always get the fajita burrito with a side of chips and it's consistently delicious. The hot sauces and salsa are also spot on. The chips are never greasy and extremely crunchy! Come support local!

This place is soooooo good . It's well portioned . They listen when you order and repeat it back to you . The ambiance is small but the scent is absolutely inviting . The food is flavorful and full of delicious well seasoned portions of me . It's also very convenient as heck . You absolutely cannot go wrong with taking a chance on this place . Park your car , order your food , grab a soda and get some macaroons while this fresh hot food gets cooked . I absolutely love it here and will be back . Service is quick but every detail is being accounted for . Until next bite

Tried this spot out randomly and enjoyed it a lot. Got a Kids burrito on the side and it was a full adult sized burrito so the portions are really good as well.

I, on an absolute whim, stopped here because I was in traffic and craving Mexican food and there was an open parking spot right in front of the store. I got the crane asada burrito plate and it was absolutely delicious! I also got the chips and salsa and really enjoyed both of those as well. I will be coming back to try the tacos. I was the only one in the restaurant while I was there so it was fast. There was a tv on which was nice, but it had spotty reception so it just kept cutting in and out the whole time I was there. Not a big deal, but slightly distracting.

We just had a pick up order last minute and were so glad we did. Our food was ready quick and they were the best burritos we have had in YEARS. We cannot wait to make it back to the south end to return and try other menu items.

Great googly moogly this place is fantastic! It's an unassuming "quick" taco shop with plenty ofOptions to tickle your taste buds. Only con is that it seemed a bit on the expensive side...granted many places are like this now due to Covid or lack of fresh ingredients/supply. $13.99 for a fajita burrito albeit it was giant! Literally the size of a small baby. It's enough for two meals or one hungry person. Filled with grilled peppers, onions, rice, beans, pico, sour cream, and guac...it was hearty and delicious. The chicken was flavorful but a touch greasy. The salsas both red and green were good, but could be spicier. Would certainly come back, but just beware of the price tag! Nearly $40 for two burritos once you factor in tax and tip. Yikes!

I came here for lunch on a whim but wow, this is a gem. There's got to be someone's grandma or grandpa cooking in the back. Everything tastes like it is made with love. Highly recommend the taco plate which gets you three delicious tacos with rice and beans. I got al pastor, lengua, and carnitas, which were all amazing, the lengua is so tender and the al pastor is some of the best I've ever tasted. Their salsas are great, too. Highly recommend! Their food is not only delicious, but also quick and affordable!

HOLY MOTHMAN WOWWWW.When I looked this place up, I was looking for Birria tacos, but sadly they do not have them. and I had come here because I was close by and I was looking for a good Mexican food place, as a certified Southern Californian, living in Washington I have the qualifications to know what good Mexican food is. so now that you know my credentials, I was a little hesitant when I first saw the place because it's so well manicured and everything is very high-tech, because I'm so used to good Mexican places being tiny holes in the wall that only take cash, so I was skeptical at first. I ordered a Carne Asada wet burrito, and a Tamal. And oh my God it was so so good. I'm not joking you that was probably one of the best tamals that I've ever had in my life, and my aunt makes very good tamales. Sometimes the masa can get bland and depending on how well it's steamed can be wet and lose its flavor when being steamed. But this was perfectly fluffy and the texture was so freaking good. Also, the seasoning of the masa is perfection, it is not over seasoned. It's not under seasoned, literally was the best Tamal I've had. Now to the burrito, they used to be a place back home in San Diego California, that I love to go to for their wet burritos because they were so good and unfortunately during the peak of Covid, they had to shut down, they never reopened. So I have not been able to find a place that sells really good wet burritos, but this place tastes exactly like that place that shut down. So this will be my new favorite. I'm ever in downtown Renton. There was nobody in there, so my food came out very fast, nice and warm, and the cashier was friendly. so I definitely recommend this place if you're looking for simple but authentic Mexican food.
