Taqueria Don Chon

This is my absolute favorite authentic Mexican greasy spoon. It's a small quaint location with a wide variety of menu items and the best Carne asada tacos I've ever had. The appetizers are a little different from the traditional chips and salsa, the offer fresh cucumber, radishes and lime with your choice of 4 sauces for dipping. Chips and salsa are available too though. I've come here at least 2x a month. Great little gem in Hapeville, check them out!

I went twice and my experiences were literally night and day! I went at night the first time and the tacos were pretty good I got carnitas and barria. The Guacomole is tasty and the table sauces are hot hot and more hot lolThe chips were stale as can be and they weren't making anymore for the evening. Either way service was good and the tacos hit the spot. The restaurant was clean the first time. 2-3 weeks goes by we go back during the day and I was mortified! My mom gets seated and I go to the back to use the restroom. I look on the floor in the hall I see something moving and assume I'm tripping. I come out the bathroom looking hard at this point & there are roaches everywhere!! Babies to the parent roaches lol then I walk over to the table where my mom is seated and I see a huge roach crawl right by her feet. I told her to get up and we walked out! Can't even return which is sad because I live for tacos

Don Chon stands as a premier destination among my top five street taco establishments in South Atlanta. Nestled in Hapeville, just a short distance from the airport, this gem captures the essence of authentic Mexican street food. While the absence of alcoholic beverages, such as a refreshing margarita on a sweltering summer day, is notable, it in no way diminishes the culinary delight offered by their delectable tacos. The staff, characterized by their amiable demeanor, ensure that service is both efficient and pleasant. A recent addition of an outdoor tent expands the dining area, creating a more spacious environment. Although the ambiance may not be extraordinary, it exudes a welcoming and unpretentious charm. I highly recommend a visit to Don Chon; it's an experience that invites you to savor each bite and form your own opinion.

We stopped by here on our way to the airport and the food was delicious. Authentic mexican food. Chips and 4 types of salsa COMPLIMENTARY were amazing! I tried 4 tacos, birria (amazing, cheesy, flavorful) barbacoa, shrimp and asada. They were all very delicious. I really loved them all and I am not easy on my ratings when it comes to mexican food! Definitely recommend trying this small business!

Not one, not two but three roaches, baby ones at that. I ordered by food to go and the babies came out to play while I was waiting in the dining area. Needless to say I asked for a refund to which she wasn't surprised. Trying Zubi's next...stay tuned.

Roaches everywhere. Food didn't taste as good as some of the other places. Do not go here.

I had their chicken tamale for the first time. And it was ok. I wish they used dark meat instead of white so it was pretty dry

One of my favorite taquerias in the Hapeville area. Very casual. And everything is always quick and delicious. We typically grab to-go (and they wrap everything up well, so that there's no spills or dimished quality). but it's also nice and chill when you sit down to dine. I enjoy Taqueria Don Chon very much, and I highly recommend them for dine-in and take-out.

Incredible tacos and some of the best sauces served with the tortilla chips. Don Chon and Birria tacos are hands down the best tacos I've ever had! Must visit place any time your near ATL and definitely worth the trip if you're not
