We can't stop coming back to this place! Taqueria Chingon has some elite tacos. We've tried it for both lunch and dinner, and this time, we went right when they opened, so everything was incredibly fresh. This is easily one of the top taco spots we've been to in Chicago - must visit.Dishes:Tuna Tostada (3/5): I'll be honest, this gets a 3 mainly because tostadas are impossible to eat without looking and feeling like an idiot. Nachos were created for a reason. That said, the tuna was fresh, the cucumber was bright, but it could use a bit more seasoning.Al Pastor (4/5): Top-notch al pastor. The meat was packed with flavor and still juicy--nothing worse than dry al pastor. This one was prepared just like at any good taco spot.Duck Carnitas (5/5): Holy sh*t, this taco was amazing. Super tender duck with orange supremes and a bright, spicy salsa. This one's a must-get every time.Chorizo Taco (5/5): Perfectly seasoned and topped with a great salsa. Just a well-executed chorizo taco that doesn't hide behind anything.Gobernador Taco (15/5): One of my favorite tacos, hands down, that I can remember. A spicy shrimp taco with a melted jack cheese skirt holding everything together. Absolutely unbelievable taco!Chips & Guac (4/5): The guac was fresh and solid, but the chips themselves were pretty hard.Closing Remark: All in all, this is a must-stop if you're in the neighborhood. They have a really nice closed in patio for summertime tacos and quick service. Grab some tacos with friends, enjoy some beer, or premade cocktails. Your taste buds will thank you!

These may be the best tacos I've ever had!!We came with a group of 8 of us and while there is seating, it's more small tables so we took our food to go to the park one block away - highly recommend doing this because they have tables there and it was so lovely!! We even ran into the owner there and she took a picture of our group it was so fun and wholesome. We ordered at the counter inside - I got 3 tacos - the duck carnitas, gobernador, and squash taco and they were all fabulous!! Favs were the duck carnitas and govetnador. The squash one had a lot more of a tomato flavor than squash but was still delicious. The tortillas were so fresh and each taco had such unique and well balanced flavors. I loved that they came with the two salsas too. The desserts also looked amazing! Cannot wait to come back bc I will be thinking about these tacos for a while!!

Came on a Sunday night for some tacos. The wait to order was pretty long. The line was short as well, but because their seating area is small, they limit the amount of orders received at a time if you're dining in. Duck carnitas was my favorite. It was a little sweet from the date puree but still super savory. The dates almost tasted like peanut butter for me. Oranges added a little acidity. Duck was tender. However, there was something akin to a bone in one of my bites. Al pastor was good. I've had better. I didn't think the flavor was deep enough for me. Asada was overly salted. It was cooked perfectly, but the amount of salt was just too much for me to finish the taco. The tortillas are on the thicker side, but it helps hold up the hefty taco and soak up all the juices. If I came back, I would only het the duck carnitas.

Great place for a quick bite to eat! My tacos were ready in 5 minutes and were each hot. I loved that the asada was perfectly well cooked and each were a really good portion size for the price. You also get two sauces serviced with your meal. I especially loved what I think was an avocado cream sauce. The outside is a perfectly cute spot to sit at on a nice spring or summer day. I am looking forward to going back to try other dishes.

I've heard a lot of good things about this place. Some say these are some of the best tacos in the city. I've even heard that they are THE best. So I decided to finally give em a try.The tacos that I ended up ordering were the duck carnitas, morcilla, and the al pastor. They were all really good! Especially, the morcilla taco. But with taxes and tip the bill was $25.00. Now, I don't mind spending a lot of money if I'm buying some high quality food. But I thought this was too expensive for what are essentially just some tacos. Elevated tacos for sure, but just tacos. I hadn't eaten all day so I was still a little hungry, but I couldn't bring myself to buy anything else.So while I did enjoy the tacos, I think this place is too pricey. I'll go back if someone else is willing to pay the bill or if some reason I'm just really craving a morcilla taco.

We came here on the recommendation of a friend before heading out to see a comedy show at the Lincoln Lodge. Tacqueria Chingon is located right on Western and has a heated patio (dog-friendly too!), perfect for a group of three to grab a quick bite. The set-up is fast casual; you enter and order at the counter. Specials will be listed in a chalkboard by the register, and their standard menu was mounted on a huge display on the back wall. This spot was opened by the same folks at Le Bouchon and Obelix, so I came in knowing every flavor and detail would not be overlooked, down to the house made sauces on each table, the texture of their guacamole, and how the taste of a single taco will change with the addition of a freshly squeezed lime.As anticipated, the tacos were gourmet, delicious. I ordered 3 for dinner:1) pescado2) asada (cooked at a default medium rare)3) duck carnitas My friend ordered chips and guacamole for the table. My meal rang up to be a little over $20 (3 tacos). If you want horchata, topo chico or another canned beverage plus guac, your tab will inch closer to $30+. The asada was a little more rare than your typical medium rare, so if that is gonna be an issue, I'd suggest getting your asada taco cooked medium or medium-well.I really enjoyed my meal here. It's perfect for a casual date, dinner before a show, or really, any occasion you'd like really solid tacos. They don't have booze here and they don't take reservations, but their food items are flavorful, uncomplicated, and you can order an horchata or Mexican Coke. A solid menu by chefs Marcos Ascensio and Oliver Poilevey!

I tried the Taco Tuesday Special, which consists of an Al Pastor and Chorizo Taco, rice and beans, a tequila shot, and Modelo beer. It's almost $22.00 with tax.The staff is friendly and helpful with the menu items. There's no indoor seating, just an outdoor patio. The area is a good size, but the outdoor patio could use a good tile cleaning.

I hate to say it, but the last few times I've eaten here the quality and flavor just aren't there anymore. None of the three tacos I had were particularly great and the homemade tortillas needed salt. If I am going to pay $6 to $8 a taco, they better be outstanding. This was not the case. I frankly don't think I'm coming back. Head west on Fullerton and go to L'Patron. Tacos are much better and less expensive.
