it was an okay California burrito. the meat was flavorful but a lot of fat and tendon. balance of ingredients was average, and it was smaller than I expected. for the price it's not bad but I don't think I'd come back. service was quick and super friendly. drive thru line was really fast and their speaker actually works well lol

Damn I wanted this place to be good, and I suppose the food was but the service was pretty lackluster. I wanted a salad. I know, who goes to a taco shop for a salad? I do. I have no shame in that and often grab offbeat items from local taco shops as they hit a bit differently, in a good way. I mean, have you ever ordered a burger from a taco shop? Thank me later. The salad was pretty good with grilled chicken topping iceberg lettuce, tomatoes, avocado, onions, carrots and any other veggie that you'll find in a taco shop. Maybe cucumbers too? I dunno. Here's the thing. I told him I wanted only salsa, red and green to dress my salad and I needed plenty to do so. A nod from the drive-thru had me to believe that it was understood and didn't have me investigate the bag thoroughly before driving away. Welp, two miniature salsa cups was all I got and they didn't go very far leaving me with a dry "salad." What I did notice was that my two bottles of water that I ordered were left out of the bag so I did run inside before leaving to grab those. If I would have noticed the lack of salsa I would have asked for more but the missing waters took my complete attention. Seeing that taco shops are a dime a dozen, it will be a while before I come back here, but I have no doubt that I will, sooner or later. Most likely later.

I have been here many times since they've been open. It's an okay taco shop but definitely not my favorite. Service is really friendly and they have a drive thru. I think these were really the only reasons I've been going here. But my last few orders make me not wanna go here anymore. Their prices have gone way up and food quality has gone down. I use to like their tacos but now they're just so overpriced and small. Their rolled tacos are supposed to be filled with beef but they are just fried tortillas. Breakfast burritos hardly have any meat in them. They also take a while here so I assume the food is made fresh but it's always given to me so cold! I also use to love their carne asada fries but again, it's given to me cold and the fries and meat have been so dry! The drive thru here is convenient especially if it's raining and you're craving Mexican food, but I've found that the taco shop right across from them in the same plaza is a lot better.

Taco Shop on point. The service was excellent! The street tacos were delicious and the mulita so good. Good portions, and great prices. Large banana/Strawberry agua, 6 street tacos and 1 mula- $25 . The salsas were good-tasty and not super spicy! Def will go back! They had like 5 different aguas to choose from too! None were basic !!!

Their papa's rellenas are my favorite! Stay away from the rolled tacos. I had to pull it apart to find a string thin piece of meat.

Never busy... which can be a sign. Tried their rice and nachos it was just ok. Seems like food is kinda old/sitting there. Been through drive thru only and cashiers were friendly only reason i went back.

I like this taco shop, it's usually my go to. They have a drive-through and lot of different good options. There is a guy who is there 9 times out of 10 when I come and he is awesome. They are pretty quick and just seem overall like cool people. The green and red sauces are good though, I lean more towards the green. So I had a couple packets of sriracha sauces that I had been meaning to use so I though why not try it on my fries and no surprise it was delicious. It was a little salty but the spice was good and Ilove sriracha on just about anything but yeah totally would do it again. But back to Taqueria Al Gusto, it's all was good.

In a sea of subpar, mediocre, and downright "meh" mexican food places in the greater SD area, I, a lonesome sailor, am left to traverse these disappointing waters. Taqueria Al Gusto is my beautiful, shimmering lighthouse. How can I begin to explain just how great of an experience it is to eat from this wonderful location? The service was phenomenal, incredibly helpful, and polite. The place was clean and seemed to be in well-order. It just screams: authenticity. The FOOD. I ordered 3 chicken tacos and a horchata. The chicken in these tacos was cooked to perfection -- juicy and had the perfect amount of char that gave it an "oomf" factor of about ten. The cilantro and onion seemed fresh and was perfectly portioned (similar to the chicken). The guac added flavor but was nothing special. The tortilla was FRESH, FLUFFY, and PERFECTLY made. The price was fair at $3.75 a taco, especially for what you get. The horchata alone deserves a paragraph, it is real and it is delicious. A rarity, it seems, in this area. Couldn't be more happy about it. If I have one comment to add, it's this: give me a better guac and put it on the side. Do this, and Taqueria Al Gusto would get 5 stars from me. This is my new go-to place, I WILL be coming back and I look forward to it.

Rolled tacos are ass. No meat just rolled soggy tortilla. Came to this place because I was near the area and craving rolled tacos but by the time I made it home(like a 5 min drive) they were soggy and cold. Absolutely no crunch. Only giving it two stars because the guy in the front was nice and had great customer service. Not sure if I will come back to try anything else. Will update if I do.

I've tried many "drive through " taco shops and usually they are surprisingly good , BUT this place has pit a bad name to them, unfortunately I have this place a try a few times and ALL 3 times it's disappointed. I just moved into area so this place was near by . I will drive further away after getting roll tacos with basically no meat , Jamaica water that tasted like water down caprison drink . The tacos (which I've tried different meats selections) have disappointed completely. Meats taste like leftovers reheated. Will not recommend at all .
