Beef Shawarma Bowl Platter. Really?

First off, let me say the server at the counter was absolutely courteous and sweet. But I just spent $35 for one pita pocket shawarma platter which had a little bit of fries. ---I don't know how they can call this a platter. --And I ordered an extra Shawarma sandwich I didn't even get the platter and it cost that much. Very disappointed in the portion sizes. See pic. The taste of the food is OK, it's not worth what I just spent. There's barely any meat in the Pita! If I wasn't in a rush, I should've looked at my food before I left because I would've taken it back. The places like a takeout to go spot has very little seating, but they got me... Won't be back.

So yummy! Ordered takeout at the counter and everything was ready in 10 minutes. The inside had a few tables all of which were occupied when I walked in, a promising sign. The zaytoon sampler was a great introductory to this establishment. Everything was seasoned well and not bland. The falafel was crispy and sized well. The foul was a good consistency. The babaghanoush was very tasty and the hummus was great! The falafel came with 2 sauces one was tahini and the other I'm not sure what it was but it was green and delicious a little tangy and spicy perfect to cut through the heaviness of the fried falafel. The pita was also very good and warm. My favorite was the baklava which was flaky and sweet. I will definitely be back to try more of the menu.

I still maintain this place makes their food with love. It's nice seeing the owner is the one manning the register. She is super sweet and kept checking in to make sure we were good. I always much rather support a place that is locally owned and operated. This time I tried the beef schwarma bowl and we got the appetizer sampler (it came with baba ghanoush, hummus, falafel and one other dip I've never had before. Out of the four I loved the hummus the best and next time I'll get an appetizer of just the hummus. The falafel was also good. I wasn't the biggest fan of the baba ghanoush, which I normally love, but I think this is just a preference thing. This baba ghanoush is more chunky than smooth). The beef shawarma bowl as delicious, I really enjoyed it. My coworker got fries with her chicken shawarma sandwich and I got to try the fries. They were freshly cut and very good. They weren't greasy at all. If you have the opportunity to try the fries, I'd highly recommend it.This place is small, but it seems like there is enough seating if you want to dine in. Most people were grabbing their food to go. This place is pretty cheap, so it's a great deal for the quality.

We were running errands in St. Pete and got really hungry so we decided to check out Zaytoon Grill. We were pleasantly greeted and started to look through the menu. The service was friendly, kind, always smiling and willing to assist in any way. The food on the other hand was below average in my opinion. I ordered the Chicken Shawarma Sandwich and my girlfriend ordered the Chicken Shawarma Bowl. The fries were very soggy. I don't think they were old fries but I think the way it was prepared prevented the fries from being crispy. The chicken in both dishes was dry and bland, and the overall dish was nothing special. I could have prepared the same meal at home. Overall the service was spectacular while the food was not.

I was excited to try this place after reading the great reviews. I had the most bizarre ordering experience. The lady got off the phone mid order, the man didn't know what his online menu said. Whatever we still ordered, food for me was bland, I had the zatoon burger, it was cooked well done and dry. A basic bun, and veggies. No pickles. :(. Fries were the basic Cisco variety, nothing special. I wouldn't come again. Maybe it was an off-night for the restaurant but it burned me forever.

Let me start up by saying I'm a bit old-fashioned when it comes to restaurants. I love classic "Mom and Pop" restaurants. I definitely don't know all the particulars... But this seems as classic as it gets. I've been going to this restaurant for over five years and the same sweet lady has greeted me every time I've ever stepped foot inside. She greets you with a smile as wide as smiles can be and calls everybody "honey". It's adorable. So now that you know the restaurant is the cutest little restaurant with the cutest family feel... What about the food? You don't need to be a rocket scientist to realize that if I've been going there for over five years, it must be pretty good. If you're in the mood for Mediterranean flavors... Zaytoon is the best in town. I'm particularly fond of the appetizer sampler platter because you get so many flavors and tastes. It's an appetizer you could share with your family or you could order personally as a meal. That's what I did today... Ordered it as a meal and got a side of lamb. Great combo. So if you're in downtown St. Petersburg and you're in the mood for Mediterranean... I strongly recommend Zaytoon Grill.

I met my husband for lunch here as he was visiting clients in the area. My rating is actually between a three and a four but since there was no 3.5, I'm rounding up.Not much ambiance but we weren't on a date. Service was excellent. The chicken skewer was hot , fresh and plentiful. Babaganoush was tasty as was the hummus and pita. I'm going to be honest by saying this is not my favorite type of cuisine so I'm not the best to judge it. Falafel I will never understand, but others in our party liked it. My only major complaint was that the rice was definitely not fresh . Mediterranean food is not in my wheelhouse but they had a decent crowd present for lunch.

We were driving on Central Ave. looking for a bite. There's lots of restaurants, but on a Monday, many may be closed. This spot was open, the price was good. There was a nearby parking spot, and a few outside spots to sit, so we were in. Inside, you can tell is a bit old. Walking to get to the back is a bit disorganized. Girl working up front was very nice and friendly and the owner helped us put the umbrella up outside. Food wise we ordered beef kabobs cut in huge chunks, chicken schwarma cut in tiny bites, and best was the baba ganoosh. Two stars bc it was mostly rice like mostly RICE. You get what you pay for. Rice-a-roni!

This seems like a family run business and the people we encountered were very nice. I ordered the chicken shawarma bowl and was expecting a more out of this plate. The rice and chicken were a bland, my favorite part of the dish was the tomato and cucumber salad. I will say though the portions are good for the pricing.
