Whistle Stop Grill & Bar

I've been to Whistle Stop before and I will be happy to point out that not every restaurant is going to be on point every visit. We had a fine time. We were absolutely hungry and we got food. Last time we went, the food was significantly better, but this was fine.Service was good, although the kitchen was incredibly backed up.I should have stuck with bar food, but the seared ahi tuna salad sounded so good. It's rare that I don't love a meal, but this was one of those times. The tuna was fresh and fine, but the rest of the salad was dull and missing some items, and it just didn't hit the spot. Other meals at our table looked (and tasted) much better, including my husband's salad, so I know the food is good and won't negatively review over it. Next time will be better!

I visit Whistle Stop once or twice a month as I work in downtown Safety Harbor. The service is always great - especially the really friendly and accommodating lady with red hair (sorry I don't know her name). When my pup comes with me, the server always brings water for him right away and turns the portable AC unit his direction (he's a husky so he and I both appreciate the thoughtfulness). The tap menu is solid with several local craft options. The food is really delicious as well from the hummus, to the Salmon blt, to the steak sandwich. I also love the corn nuggets!This is a laidback, really fantastic restaurant in the downtown area!

Food was ok. Service was fast but if it is windy or cold do not go there you're pretty much outside.

Wow what a little gem! The food is amazing I'm obsessed with the ahi plate & the buffalo cauliflower!! They have a killer happy hour too Monday-Friday 3:00-6:00 where they do appetizer & drink specials

Have gone here several times with and without our dog. We've used to love seeing the bands and have always loved that you can get a seat anywhere.. However, going to think twice about going next time. Before entry, we were told that dogs weren't allowed (even though we've had our puppy in several times). The host was a little snippy with us as well which was uncalled for. Honestly, think it's a little ridiculous seeing that it's safety harbor and most places are dog friendly especially with an outdoor bar. Unreal. Will be taking business elsewhere.

Always a pleasure, dining for lunch or dinner. Service was outstanding, atmosphere was casual and comfortable. Huge plus to find parking on site!! The corn fritters were savory and spicy, the tuna fresh and light, and the fish and chips perfectly crispy.

Sorry to say, when the previous owner passed, place went down. Now that the old ownership took over the place is a mess. It was an extremely hard time for everybody and safety Harbor. He was loved and he did a great job. Place has gone downhill since. Food, service, quality evaporated.

Wanted to visit because it was close by the house and allowed dogs. Was told to wait at host stand for 10mins before a host showed up to sit us down. (It was not even busy). the service was horrible appetizers were cold and waited over 40mins for a fried shrimp appetizer . Waiter kept saying it would be out shortly and wanted our entree order already so we decided to put it in with her. Our entree came out at the same time our fried shrimp 40mins later cold.. sad i won't be back.

Super friendly staff. Full service restaurant and bar with excellent quality including appetizers such as flat breads, fried green tomatoes, corn fritters, fish spread; burgers, salads, fish tacos, grouper sandwich and fresh market price blackened grouper, Gouda Mac and cheese (delicious) and desserts. Pecan pie a favorite. Don't judge by the size and look of this old timey ice cream shop, the Whistle Stop serves quality, popular dishes. Live music throughout the week and plenty of small TVs if interested in watching a sports game with a wide range of local brews and friends. Very relaxed atmosphere for families and just hanging with friends at the bar or long tables. Most of the seating is covered and the bar is covered with fans throughout. A popular local spot and a great place to enjoy Florida in the winter months
