Whiskey Willy's

Stopped in on Christmas Eve for a last minute bottle of rum for my rum cake. Quickly found the bottle I was looking for and price clearly showed $21.99 and there was multiple bottles in the row not just one. Upon checking out the bottle rang up $26.99 so I advised the cashier the bottle should be 21.99 and I explained where I found the bottle so that they can go do a price check. The cashier then sent me over to another register and the gentleman that went to do the price check started to ring me out and although it was an error In their pricing he advised "the bottle was in the wrong spot" even though it was an entire row and said he can offer me the bottle at 23.99 instead of the $26 that it had originally rang up. I get that mistakes happen but the bottle should have been honored at the price that was shown on the shelf not a made up price in between just because. I know it's just a couple dollars but its the principle for me and the fact that the man that did the price check tried to say that someone placed that bottle in the wrong spot when it was clearly an error on the store being that the entire row was the same bottle. This is why I normally stick to ABC liquor.

There are a few stores in the Tampa area who support the local whiskey/bourbon environment, and I am glad that "Whiskey Willy's" is one of them. The store already has a good stock selection, but they are also prominent enough to regularly have good store picks of some quality stuff. They are relatively fair in their allocation distribution, often coinciding with those store pick bottle drops. Michael and the staff are knowledgeable, accommodating, and are passionate about their craft. I've been in line for a few of their bottle drops and appreciate when they come out to provide samples of their offerings. Their prices are a little higher than MSRP for those allocation bottles, but still mostly within reason.

Located in TnC on Hillsborough Ave, Whiskey Willy's is a fun place to go if you're a Whisk(e)y drinker.Like most liquor stores, WW sells all the things you might need for drink nights. They have the usual suspects of spirits, beer, wine, mixers, etc. But where this place shines is in Walid. If the place is busy, hang back a bit and wait until Walid can give you some personal attention, because it's worth it.Walid is very clearly in charge of making the store picks and the stock of whisk(e)ys, and he knows his stuff. The selection isn't huge, but it is thoughtful and carefully curated to give a wide variety of options at varying price points. He and I had a very good time talking Scotch and while he no longer had a specific bottle I was looking for, he let me try several others that were comparable. I ended up buying his Highland Park store pick (it is WONDERFUL) and, surprisingly, since I don't really drink Rye, a Rye pick of his that was delicious. I very much look forward to visiting WW and Walid very soon and on a regular basis. If you're anywhere nearby, stop in and try that Highland Park pick!

Stopped by while up in Tampa for an appointment. Nice friendly staff, helpful but not overly so! Got to taste a couple of their own barrel picks (bourbon). Ended up getting a barrel pick along with another bottle. Nice selection and prices very reasonable. I will be back when I find myself in the area.

Updating my review from nearly five years ago, and keeping these pandemic times in mind, I can still say this is my favorite liquor store. Their drive-thru is outstanding and quite speedy. But they also offer ample parking, both in front and behind the store. All of the employees wear masks and gloves, and are always efficient. Though I can find my regular vodka elsewhere for a dollar or two cheaper, the convenience of a drive-thru window keeps me returning to Whiskey Willy's. They also sell cigarettes & cigars, and locally-brewed craft beers!

Great selection and reasonable prices. Only downside is some of bottles are too high to grab or see pricing but otherwise would absolutely go back

Always has a great selection. The whiskey selection s above average. The owner always offers several barrel picks in a verity if offering scotch bourbon rye and runs.

Wally is the man.He knows his stuff and prices everything fair (if not under current market value)There is usually a tasting going on Friday-Sunday.The store is always clean but parking can be a bit tricky. There are spaces available in the rear of the building and on the side. If you're in a hurry or still in your pajamas, they have a drive up window. I believe it is only cash.Best price in town for monkey in paradise vodka (my favorite)! He competes with the big dogs so go check this place out for the best prices.

Great selection of bourbons including quality store picks. The team is knowledgeable and courteous. Great store.

Visited the store yesterday for the first time with my son. Very impressed with the bourbon selection as well as the conversations with what I assume were the owners. Super nice people! Nice to see a locally owned business run so well. We will be back often!
