Umu Japanese & Thai

Tried this place out a few weeks back. Great food. Amazing pad Thai! Loved the sushi. Very happy we found this place.

Beautiful restaurant in Wesley chapel. They have a small sushi bar and an intimate dining room. The food was delicious and very fresh. Everything is fresh and made to order. Server was very attentive and gave good recommendations. We had the Philadelphia roll and the Bomb roll. Both were excellent. They are open Mon - Thur:11:30am - 2:30pm and 4:30pm-10pmFri :11:30am - 2:30pm and4:30pm - 10:30pm, Sat : 4:30pm - 10:30pm andSun : 4:30pm - 9:30pm.

With amazing sushi spots like UMU in Tampa Bay area, there is no need to drive all the way to Orlando for sushi anymore!If you are a nigiri lover (pieces if raw fish over rice), like me, then I've got the spot for you. Everything was delicious. Didn't take pic of everything but got Takoyaki and shrimp as appetizer and also uni. Uni was tasty as well. Only complain would be the sushi, I didn't like the fact that it was soaked in some sort of sweet sauce. I would appreciate if the sauce was optional.

You can makre reservations online, but it's not required. A little far from the house, but this place has a nice vibe. Modern with an asian flair, it's decoreated well in a dimly lit setting, there is seating available outdoors on the front patio if you prefer The menu is a fusion of japanese and thai. There are sushi rolls and standard kitchen offerings to choose from.I had the pad see ew and the nabe udon. The pad see ew was a little more on the spicy side for me, but was flavored well and the noodles were cooked and paire well with the chicken. I really liked the name udon. The broth was light and the mix of proteins and veggies was very nice. I do wish the portio was a bit bigger considering the cost, but the flavor was really good. Service was good and I ran into no issues with anything. One suggestion, have it a little less dim...can be a bit difficult to read the menu (you can read the online version though). Otherwise, I think this is a worthwile spot to hit up and people should try it if in the area,

I can't say enough good things about UMU. The sushi rolls are out of this world. I particularly love the Beauty & the Beast Roll and The Bomb Roll. I haven't tried some of their other menu items outside of edamame and sushi, but I'm sure it's all fantastic. The inside is very cute and service is fantastic! We eat in and sometimes order to go -- both consistently great. They have outdoor seating which is great, given that most sushi places do not.One important thing to note is they don't have a full liquor license, so you're limited to beer, wine, and sake.

We love how close we are to UMU. It is our go to place for high quality and delicious sushi. The chef/owner is the nicest guy and always surprises us with unique dishes. We sit at the bar and when I say their sushi does not disappoint!!We've had their Omakase style dinner and have also ordered off the menu. Last night was my birthday and the chef willingly did a small impromptu Omakase dinner for us that was absolutely delicious, amazing and incredible. Thank you for being talented, buying fresh fish and treating us with great service!! Also thanks for my delicious birthday dessert from Sorbo

Came here again the other day to try their omakase. Unfortunately my friend misunderstood that there wasn't a set price and did not confirm when the much higher price was given a few days before our reservation. Thankfully they offered to give a similar experience at an a la cart price and it was worth it. The service was amazing and the chef was great to interact with. We loved everything that was given to us. The only thing I could have done without was the egg and eel thing at the end. Felt like more of a filler and was not my thing. We ended up ordering a roll at the end each and asked that the chef come up with something based on the fish we love and both came out great!

Made a reservation via Open Table and requested a booth. Upon arrival we checked in with the hostess who took us to our reserved booth. Given menus and greeted shortly after by our waitress. We had enough time to look at the menu and make our selections by the time she got there so we placed our entrée orders and drinks at the same time. The restaurant is very nice! Booth seating as well as table and sushi bar seating. Outdoor area also available that is covered and quite big. Very modern appeal. For food, there's sushi, Japanese and Thai dishes. We opted for Thai this evening. I ordered the. Chicken Pad Thai and hubs got the Chicken Pad See Ew. Both mild. They were beautifully presented on the dishes when arriving at the table. And OMGOSH was my pad Thai DELICIOUS!! I haven't had pad Thai this good in a long time. Hubs dish was delish also however despite it being ordered mild it was still spicy. I think from the black pepper more than anything. Nom nom nom this was a great dinner. Be sure to stop by Sorbo which is a few doors down after dining here for a matcha latte! :)We will definitely be back here!!! It's 30 minutes from home but it's worth the drive.
