Took a ride to a part of town I do not frequent to try food from Trinidad and Tobago. A place I visited as a child and home to a past friend of mine. He used to brag about the food and I was curious to try it. The place was on 56th not to far from Busch Blvd. A colorful place with parking in front. Half a dozen tables with metal chairs and bright decor. Many of the drinks and snacks were from the island. Most of the dishes were made with curry, very likely influenced by India. Somewhere in their history, imigrants from India must have populated parts of Trinidad and Tobago. So I tried the Curry Shrimp and the Curry Goat. I also ordered Roti, a traditional bread for $5. The food was just ok. Not very flavorful and kind of bland. I preferred the goat over the shrimp. The goat, however, was off the bone and I prefer it on the bone. I got stiffed on the bread, she left it out of the bag. $5 donation I guess. The lady was very nice, she was apparently alone and was also the cook. One thing that peaked my interest was a curry spice packet for duck and goat. I wish I had bought it. Some of their snacks and drinks looked interesting as well.

Trini Spice Cuisine in Tampa is a culinary gem that brings the vibrant flavors of Trinidad straight to your plate. From the moment you walk through the door, you're greeted by the warmth of the owner, whose genuine kindness and passion for her food shine through every interaction. Having followed her journey from pop-ups to her new brick-and-mortar location, I couldn't be happier to see her thrive in this well-deserved space. The atmosphere feels like home, and the food is nothing short of extraordinary. The doubles are perfectly seasoned and the roti melts in your mouth! This is comfort food at its finest. What truly sets Trini Spice apart, though, is the love and care infused into every dish. You can tell this isn't just a business for the owner--it's her heart and soul. Whether you're a long-time fan of Trinidadian cuisine or trying it for the first time, this spot will leave you smiling and full. Trini Spice Cuisine is more than just a restaurant; it's a celebration of culture, community, and resilience. I'm so glad this talented chef has found her place to share her incredible food with Tampa. Don't miss out on this treasure!~Your Favorite Flight Attendant ~

Food was absolutely amazing, staff super friendly and warm. Went there to celebrate my dad on his bday and they really helped make the day special. I struggled not to go for seconds of their homemade sorrel, still kind of regretting not doing so, but will for sure come back. A true hidden gem and I'm so happy to have a little piece of my dad and his culture nearby. Thank you to the staff for the wonderful good, affordable prices and that little piece of Trini spice I was so missing

I posted a review on this restaurant earlier until I tried everything. I was impressed with the cleanliness as I entered the restaurant but only one person cooking and my roti only had 2 small drumsticks like baby wings and lots of potatoes and peas?? Sadly I won't be going back especially with the price of $22. For one roti and a small doubles???

The lady that took my order was so patient, and she explained everything to me. She didn't make me feel rushed at all. I got paratha, curry Channa meal and it was really flavorful and good. The roti was so good that I wish I had another!I love the little cozy outside setup that they have. I would totally recommend this place for an authentic Trini feel and meal!Sorry about the food pics. I was starving when I thought about y'all!!! Can you tell it was good I would totally recommend for vegetarians, not sure about vegans. There's plenty of parking and it's all wheelchair accessibleIf you're in the area, stop by and give them a try! I'm DEFINITELY going back!Happy eating!!!

The restaurant is a food trailer with cozy picnic benches next to it. I ordered the bake and shark and it was packed with flavor. You can choose your sauce and toppings. After recommendations from the friendly owner, I got mine with cucumber, lettuce, tomatoes, and pineapple, with garlic sauce. The garlic sauce is nice and flavorful and not too spicy. The bake is fresh and soft and is packed with a good amount of well-seasoned freshly fried shark. Between the great service and fantastic food, it is absolutely worth checking out this spot. There's also many other authentic Trinidadian food and drinks here to try. While I was there, many people were coming and going ordering takeout. It definitely seems like somewhere worth going back to, to try out more of their menu items.

The bake and grouper is my new favorite thing! The bake is crispy and fresh! The grouper is flaky and seasoned well. We also had doubles with medium pepper and all the toppings, the flavor was tasty and the channa was perfectly cooked to my liking The curry chicken tastes juicy and has plenty of gravy to soak up with the buss up shot. Speaking of the roti, it was SO buttery and delicious! Tasted fresh too.The atmosphere was very nice with all the Trinidadian themed quotes on the wall, the soca music playing, and the lady who took my order was very sweet and took great care in making sure my order was complete.I hope they keep the bake and grouper on the menu. I will come back for that again! Wish I took pictures of the food but we scarfed it down as soon as we got home.
