Last night my husband and I had the chance to try Tampa's newest food truck addition, Tree Dog Roots. You may recognize the owners from some of the local farmer's markets in Tampa. My husband has always been a huge fan of their Ghost Pepper Iced Tea. The tea is not on the food truck's menu so be sure to ask about it!Tree Dog Roots serves a "signature smash" dish that contains mashed golden Yukon potatoes, carrots, parsnips, chèvre goat cheese and butter. This delicious mix of root vegetables is amazing and comes in five different varieties: "4 Cheeses", "Chicken N' Cheese", "Bacon, Avocado, Ranch", "The Loaded" and "Walnut Basil Pesto". I ordered the Bacon Avocado Ranch Smash and my husband ordered a ghost pepper iced tea and the Loaded Smash. My dish came with bacon, cheese, green onions, avocado and tomato. My husband's dish was almost the same, but his also came with marinated chicken. We loved our meals, but my husband did mention he was hungry afterwards. If you are looking to eat more veggies this is a wonderful alternative to some of the less healthy food truck options. I will definitely be following Tree Dog Roots food truck in the future so I can try their Walnut Basil Pesto smash!

I've been here a couple times at different markets in the Tampa area. The smash bowls are absolutely delicious! There's tons of flavor and they are definitely not stingy on the toppings. Service has always been quick and friendly. Definitely try Tree Dog Roots if you see them!

The sunshine beat down in waves as a breeze rustled the palm frond fringes. It was time to root down.Onlookers gawked, interest was ripe for my avocado topped, tomato adorned, bacon stippled, mashed potato and carrot concoction. The friendly smiles of the chefs matched the rich wholese goodness of the meal.Market. Fresh. Cooked. Vegetables. Creamy sauce with scallion highlights. Black pepper flecks.I awakenI would have added lemon juice for a citrus kick. This is Florida. Then I had the shrimp and scallop smash. With lemon.

Quick review for the market breakfast, where they use fresh ingredients from market of the day. I had a delicious omelette with avocado slices, bacon, home fries, toast, and strawberries. Excellent!

Food is decent. Attitude is NOT and honestly puts a bad taste in my mouth. Ive had three people in our office complain about their attitude and rudeness. Today was the worst when they arrived and our warehouse person asked that they move their truck since they were blocking his car so he could move his car. Apparently, the dude from Tree Dog Roots did not like that and started cursing him out about it. Our warehouse employee even questioned him as to why he was cursing. These people have some serious anger issues and need to get a hold of themselves. STAY AWAY!

Tree Dog Roots is the best food truck we've ever been to! The food always tastes fresh and the couple that runs it is extremely nice! We smile every time we see the truck! I would recommend this food truck to anyone looking to cater a big event or a quick bite to eat!

These bowls are so amazingly good. I usually get the Bacon, Avocado, Ranch...yum!!! It's absolutely perfect in the morning when I'm strolling the Saturday Morning Market in St Pete. Although I love the bacon flavor, it would be just as good without, therefore making it my favorite potentially vegetarian dish. I definitely recommend giving this a try if you happen upon them at one of the local breweries/markets. You won't be disappointed!

To die for soup. To die for omelet. Fantastic food- so happy to have found it at the Carrollwood Market last weekend. Made me go home and try to replicate the soup. I would seriously go out of my way to find this again and I live in Central Fla!

Picked up shepherds pie for my lunch and discovered several white hairs in the food when I got home. Very disappointing as the one bite I ate of the shepherds pie had very nice flavors. Hopefully they tighten up their quality control and food safety standards. Nothing like hair in the food to spoil the meal. :(

Tree Dog Roots made an appearance at the latest Flicks and Food Truck Rally in Channelside so I had to try them out. They basically offer small bowls of mashed potatoes with various toppings. Maybe 5-6 options total on the menu. I need meat in my meals so I got The Loaded, which is comprised of bacon, chicken, cheese, avocado, tomato, onion and ranch dressing. Really good but the bowl was soooo small. It was like a snack for $8. But again, it was tasty and the service was friendly. I would try them again if I wanted a very light meal.
