I decided to start focusing on smaller businesses to help them economically and trying to eat at commercial franchise establishments. So I had just come back from vacation. In the Caribbean and I had an amazing Jamaican patty I figured. Let me stop in and try this place. Let me tell you something. I'm so glad that I bought two generous sizes. The filling was so spicy to perfection crust was flaky and buttery and soft for three dollars. I consume them so fast I forgot to take a picture. My apologies. I will be going back to try some of the dishes as well.

When it comes to carribean restaurants they are mostly a hit or miss depending on the day or time. Especially the Jamaican establishments. From the attitude to the lack of love put into the food.As for the Humming bird it needs help in many ways. The cleanliness is lacking, people should see clean tables and no leftover rice grains on the floor left from previous customers. The greetings and mannerisms are lacking as well. I shouldn't feel like I'm getting into an altercation with the cashier. As for the food it's lacking the love from the beautiful island called JAMAICA . When establishments get comfortable they forget what it took for them to open those doors. The hard nights of labor that open those doors, the love of cooking some amazing food, the introduction of bringing the elements of Jamaica. As for the order was an oxtail with rice and peas, and cabbage. Also an order of curry chicken with same sides as the oxtail. The oxtail wasn't tender enough the seasoning a bit on the salty side. The curry chicken tasted as leftovers from the previous day. Again it starts with the kitchen and owners have to be held responsible to the full extent. Either get it together for Tampa needs carribean restaurants or shut down and reevaluate the love once was that represented Jamaica.

A whole heap of flavor best ya try it out! This the real deal. When ya taste it can't help but feel the island vibes. The gentleman working the front cool the service on point! I ate rice and peas jerk chicken dark meat and a beef patty. Everything was delicious! 10/10

No online menu and no readily available menu pricing in the store. I like to know menu pricing before arriving, so I know if it's in my budget, and this aspect is lacking. The food is ok, but not worth the 1hour drive.

I was craving oxtail and really wanted to try this place since it's so close! When we walked in they have a small menu listed on the left of the register. They were unfortunately out of oxtail and many other menu items, so I chose Brown Beef Stew. Their entrees include 2 sides and plantains. You may also choose a size of small medium or large. I chose medium to be safe. They also have select pastries or beef patties in a case on the counter, so I also snagged a beef patty!! It so flaky and the meat was seasoned beautifully. It was so also pretty big in size!At the moment they are only doing to-go. When I got home and opened my box it was so heavy and stuffed to the brim! But it wasn't beef inside they just put chicken stew inside instead. I didn't really mind, I was thinking maybe it's all they left. Either way, it was so delicious. There was probably half of a small chicken in this box! The leg meat was fall off the bone tender and the spices were classic Jamaican flavor. Absolutely delicious!!! I chose rice and peas and cabbage as my sides. Both just delectable. Their rice and peas is honestly one of the best I've had. Overall, I will definitely be returning but maybe for lunch! I have a feeling they ran out of items early. I would highly recommend trying this place!!!

Great jerk food. Fist one at New Tampa Area. I have read many reviews indicating this place is slow, as result, I came here at 11:15 am before everyone showed up. I was the second in line and the food is not much of wait. During 12 noon, I can see the line building up. May be that is the reason why most reviews don't like wait. I got Jamaican traditional dish. The Ackee and Salt fish. The Ackee is fruit from West Africa. And now is widely planted in Jamaica. This dish is Jamaica National dish. The salt fish was clean an diluted with water before add into it. This dish is $17. Our second dish is the fried chicken. I like this dish very much. They have great coating outside. It is like some curry or cumin. It come with rice and plantain. I would recommend this dish. It is lunch special. Good deal. Our experience is great here. Definitely go for the oxtail. It has great flavor when we ask for the gravy for the fried chicken.

I had to come back to update my review, unfortunately I have visited or called this store (not exaggerating) 60 times attempting to order Oxtail. Every time it is unavailable for some reason.

This small restaurant serves up some very tasty Jamaican platters. Food, such as curry-based and jerk (they have goat and chicken) are nice and good-sized portions. The dishes might be considered a bit spicy by some. However, if you like, say, Indian or Thai at lower-to-medium levels spicy, their food should satisfy you for sure.
