The Hotel Tea Room

I am sitting outside of this place so impressed with my experience. I saw on Yelp that someone said the posted hours are incorrect- so I called to make sure they were open. The hours posted for Fri were right- so I popped in for a tea. Not my normal beverage but my voice has been a little horse. I stepped in the door (in the rear) and was greeted by Miss Mae- a very nice woman. As she was making my tea- we were talking about the food they serve- I got the impression they make a lot of their food from scratch. She mentioned they serve Chicken and Dumplings and I told her I'd hadn't had this dish in so long- because my Mom used to make the best!! I was totally blown when Miss Mae went into the cooler, retrieved a bowl full of chicken and dumplings- heated it up- and let me try it I was right- great home cooking just like my Mom used to make. It was phenomenal!This quick stop reminded me of how nice it is to treat people like family- and how wonderful it feels to be the recipient of this treatment!! It also reminds me to pay it forward- and uplift others when the opportunity arises. This quick stop to get a tea ended up making my afternoon!! THANK YOU!!One last thing- this kind of looks like a large house or small hotel- I'll include an outside pic so you don't miss it.

What a unique place my husband found for us to try. The food is definitely delicious! Ribs & Brisket was so tender & tasty. No wonder they have so many awards covering every wall of the of the place. The service may take a bit but that's because it's not fast food. The place could use some cleaning & organizing as many people may be deterred from eating here from the appearance of both the outside & inside & I only mention this because the place is so unique and could be so beautiful. It looks a bit abandoned. I wasn't even sure it was open when we walked up. But very glad it was. We will definitely go by again. So when your in the area & you want some great BBQ, the real stuff, go here!

This location is now named Cooters Smokehouse. So yummy! Best bbq ever!!! MUST HAVES: the smoked Ribs and the smoked Brisket. Thanks to everyone who greeted us like we were family. It truly makes all the difference in today's America. So glad to have finally stopped in. Soon to become regulars.

A cute small family restaurant in Davenport Florida. The ribs are award winning and sold on Tuesday's. The brisket was also delicious. Ribs sold out while we were there for lunch. Watch the hours because they close early. The menu is written on the boards. The dining room holds around 25 people. It's like a family gathering there. GET THE RIBS. Parking is available but may be on the grass in back. We had a group of 13 and filled two tables. I saw a table for two and three tables for four. They were occupied. They also have wonderful homemade desert but we didn't order any. You should make a reservation. Check the open hours because they are also open some evenings.

We have eaten a lot of Ribeye steaks in our lifetime. Some we have cooked at home, many ordered at expensive restaurants. This was definitely one of the best we have ever had. Miss Mae and the whole crew were so inviting and friendly. The OMG cake was incredible. The atmosphere is so homey. Looking forward to going back and trying the catfish. The world needs more restaurants like this!!!

I'd love to go here. But since they can't take 30 seconds to change their hours on Facebook or the internet not sure I can trust them w a business of food. Drove 40 minutes TWO DIFFERENT TIMES. Facebook said open. They were closed. It's also in the middle of old Davenport so it's not exactly enticing or pleasing to the eye.

OMG where do I begin. This place was like going back to grandmas house for dinner. Miss May is 81 years young and is the sweetest little lady. She's also a great cook!! Prime Rib was delicious, fresh warm chocolate chip cookies were a perfect touch to a great dinner. Every body was so welcoming & friendly. Will definitely be back!!

One of the best Ribeye steaks I have ever had. The sides were delicious, as was the homemade cake for dessert. They were experimenting with a pork croquette appetizer which we tried and it was amazing. They definitely need to add those to the regular menu. E'll be going back to try the barbecue next. Truly a hidden gem.

Love this homey restaurant. Highly recommend everything on the menu as it's all delicious. Especially try any of the yummy desserts which are house made. It is a bit expensive.
