I am a huge fan of the Golden Egg Cafe in Carrollwood! It's a fairly large yet simple breakfast/lunch cafe with a small outdoor patio in the front. A friend and I went on a Tuesday morning around 11am and got sat immediately. The service was friendly and quick (especially for coffee refills which I super appreciated)!I got their Southwest Omelet with a side of fruit and pancakes. The omelet is stuffed with chorizo, jalapeños, jack cheese and comes with salsa and guacamole; it was so good and full of flavor. The pancakes were also very good! My friend got the Benedict Duo where you pick two different Benedict combos and get a half order of each, plus a side. She got the Aztec and Fresh Sope Benedict's with a side of homefries and really enjoyed it. The Aztec comes on Sweet corncakes and is topped with carne asada, poached eggs, poblano sauce, and serrano peppers. The fresh sope is shredded beef, poached eggs, ranchero sauce, avocado, cotija cheese, cilantro, salsa and sour cream built on top of a fried sope. The Duo is a great chance to try more than one item without the double price tag, who doesn't love that? (Special note, my friend is dairy free and our server was very kind and accommodating about it, even making notes to the kitchen regarding her meal)Overall, 10/10; the Golden Egg Cafe has great food, coffee and service!

Happened upon this restaurant when trying to find a good breakfast spot. Decided to try based upon the reviews. And as always, the Yelpers were right- a solidly good brunch spot. I knew it was going to be good and affordable by all the seniors who were there. Brandon our server provided excellent service. He was friendly, super knowledgeable and gave excellent recommendations! Be sure to ask for him when you go. The restaurant was clean and inviting. Lots of holiday decor. We started with the loaded hash browns for the table - a skillet of hash browns with cheese and onion. It was delicious. For our entrees, I ordered the Southern skillet -thinly shaved potatoes with crispy edges topped with avocado, scrambled eggs, cubes of chorizo. Yum. SoGood. It was a generous portion. My friend had the Spicy avocado Benny. The hollandaise sauce was very creamy with just enough heat with the siracha. Very good.Eggs perfectly poached. Crispy bacon. GF and vegetarian options. Beverages include coffee, tea and juices. They didn't make a fuss when we came in with our own coffee. Overall a great affordable breakfast spot.

New found breakfast place! The golden egg Café located on Dale Mabry is such a well hidden secret at least to me. I decided to take my parents out for a Veterans Day breakfast and this was found on yelp. It was given five stars and thought I'd give it a try. The place is clean and lots of space between the tables and booths. They weren't that many people there although it was about 8 am on a Monday. We had coffee (good and hot). We ordered the Beef Hash Skillet with eggs over easy which came with toast I chose the whole wheat toast, which was really good. I also ordered a little side of the country gravy, and that was just as good. We also ordered the him and cheese omelette that came with selection of toast as well. I know we're very happy with the service. The young gentleman was very prompt and courteous and not to mention patient as my elderly parents place their order. Definitely highly recommend and we will be back again.

My wife and I took some out of town friends here for brunch before dropping them off at the airport. The atmosphere was very calm and comfortable. Our waitress was attentive and friendly. I ordered the spicy avocado benedict. It was a little too spicy, but still had good flavor. I would definitely come back if we are in the area again.

Another last minute decision to stop for breakfast/brunch time at a new place near my travels. The choices were plenty and food was average. My server forgot a few things and even though it wasn't busy didn't check on me. I needed water and never got it and my salt shaker was missing off the table so no salt on my eggs. Overall it was still good enough for a future second visit and a different meal experience. It was clean and I noted a nursing home brought in a few seniors to enjoy a trip out and were well cared for by another staff.

Someone mentioned this place, and so we tried it on a Sunday late morning. Surprisingly, there wasn't much of a wait at all for that time, and I would definitely opt for this a great alternative to Keke's (if not replacement!). The food was good, the service was good, no complaints. When we were first seated, it did take a few minutes for our server to introduce herself and get things started, but even another server stopped by to ask if we've been helped yet. That is really appreciated after seeing servers at other places ignore you even when you make eye contact and clearly haven't been helped yet.I had their blueberry lemon ricotta short stack with turkey bacon and eggs and it was very good! Also indulged in the mimosa flight and recommend it! I am curious to try their huevos rancheros and see if it's any good. That dish is surprisingly difficult for a lot of places to get right.

Honestly, this restaurant is a 10 out of 10. I loved every second of it from the friendly staff greeting you to the incredibly clean restaurant as you look around to the absolutely spectacular wonderful food. I mean this is knock your socks off good breakfast and I haven't been during/tried the lunch options but I'm sure they're still as well. Our server was super friendly and incredible. I would recommend this place to anyone.

If I could give this place zero stars, I would. We showed up expecting a nice meal, but instead, we got a never-ending waitlist of lies. Every 30 minutes, they told us, "just 30 more minutes," like some kind of cruel joke on repeat. Spoiler alert: we never got seated. How do you run a restaurant this badly? Were they secretly trying to see how long they could keep us standing there before we gave up? Because mission accomplished. We left starving, frustrated, and completely disgusted with how little they cared. If you like wasting your time, this is the place for you. Otherwise, go somewhere that actually knows how to seat customers instead of stringing them along with fake wait times.
