Large group for my birthday. The wait staff was great with us. It is always a little slow with a large group but they keep things moving and the glasses filled. Everyone's orders were correct and the food was great.Spouses did not sit together - girls with girls and guys with guys and they were perfect with the checks. Group said that we have to go back soon.

Always so good! We love this place. Raw hostels are fresh and if you go on Friday Saturday or Sunday they are only $1 each! Best deal around! We've eaten here about a half dozen times and everything we've ordered has been really good. Seafood, fried okra, seafood gumbo, peel and eat shrimp, and the onion rings omg! If you are in the area do not miss out! Stop by and thank me later!

Really fun foods with generous helpings. The ambiance is a bit like a smoky dive bar but service is friendly.

I went on a Monday evening for the all you can eat catfish and my fish came back very overly greasy and borderline cold and I am very disappointed

Wednesday Night All You Can Eat Shrimp. You love shrimp then this is the place for you. Always brought out fresh. Lots of cocktail sauce and tartar sauce to enjoy with your shrimp. Comes with French Fries and Cole Slaw. Great staff that works As a team. Just remember if the place is busy it may take a while to get your refill. The orders are Made to order so it comes out fresh.

The Crooked Bass; I'd never heard of it but a friend was dying to try it. In short, it was good! The food was good, and the portions were more than generous; which is probably why it's also a good chunk of change. I had the grouper basket, which was super tasty, but I could only eat half due to the amount of food they give you. But I did eat all my hush puppies because I love me some hush puppies. Service was great. Everyone that helped us was super friendly and the food arrived in a decent amount of time. The only knock I have is the ambiance. As other reviews have said, it's a lot going on. However, even if I don't agree with a sign, or whatnot, it is what it is. My biggest issue the noise level. They had live music that night (it was a Friday. I don't know if it's every night) and it was so loud. A little difficult to carry on a conversation. I can see why a place like this stays busy in this area. It's a southern food/old Florida type establishment in a small town, that I didn't even know existed.

Ambiance: lots of cute signs and lake decor. It was crowded so I recommend calling ahead for seating. Conservative politics was the undertone. The service was great. The servers were hopping everywhere. Food: We ordered "baskets" that included protein, cole slaw, fries, and hush puppies, with the option of grits. My blackened mahi mahi was palatable. My mom loved the fried grouper. She said that it was very fresh and cooked perfectly. The cole slaw was fresh, with sweet dressing, and a nice-sized serving. The fries were average. Sorry, no pictures because the place was packed. The food that was passing us looked good.

My crab legs were very good! My friend's salmon was just ok. It was overcooked and looked kind of dry.The frog legs were tasty and meaty.( I had to try them)I had wanted to try this place and it was good, but it was a far drive, so it will be awhile before I give it a second try.

Love the old Florida atmosphere and menu at this hidden gem. Dinners come with either one or two sides. And there are endless side dish offerings. Everything looked great coming out of the kitchen. We decided on a sampler platter because we couldn't decide. Great fried shrimp. For us the blackened catfish was perfect. If you like it really spicy, you may want to choose another preparation. The fried okra...Yum Yum!! OMG, the hushpuppies. Our server was wonderful and patient with our order indecision. Ask about the t-shirts. They are super cute and very affordable.

Ok, we've driven past here several times, headed to Frostproof for an ice cream. But this time we set Crooked Bass as a dinner destination. And we loved it. Place is much larger than I expected, but we landed a nice table along the wall. Prime rib was on the menu - as I have said in other reviews, if it's on the menu, that's what I get. Carla ordered the fish dip - she wasn't very hungry that evening. My prime rib landed on the table - it was huge! I saw it and thought it looked so big, it was going to be tough. Not so! It was tender and flavorful and so large, I took half home (was almost as good as leftovers!). We were there a bit later than normal, so the crowds had thinned and it wasn't as noisy as it could have been. Based on the design, I think it probably gets loud when full of happy diners. We will go back, it is definitely on our list now. Maybe we'll drag some friends with us for a second opinion!
