The Crab Hut

Great gem. Crab was live and fresh. The fish were delicious and fresh. Just plan a head to stay a long time for cleaning (almost an hour wait time). I couldn't wait and I ended up cleaning the fish myself at home. But the overall experience is great. Would highly recommend.

It truly is a little hut but don't let the looks of this gem fool you - inside awaits the freshest seafood. Lots and lots of blue crabs which are reasonably priced. They will clean and/cook your seafood if you wish. I bought a dozen large blue crabs and they could barely fit into one bag which was heavyyy! Cash only so make sure to stop by the ATM first. Both gentlemen at the counter were so pleasant.

We drove down to the shrimp docks to get some shrimp and while there asked if they knew of anywhere we could buy crab and fish. They recommended the Crab Hut.We've driven by here a few times and was never tempted to go in. It's not a pretty place. But, we LOVE places like this and finally went in. People were coming in and out, it's obviously a popular place. Old, run down, dark, dilapidated, just our kind of place. But it looked clean and didn't smell horrible for a fish market. The mother & daughter working here were very nice. Offered lots of advise on how to cook the blue crabs. We bought 1/2 a dozen of the large ones for dinner. We also bought a red snapper which they fileted for us. The fish alone was $16, not cheap at all, but we got 2 good filets which were plenty for dinner.I like that they had a good variety of fish to choose from. Snapper, mullet, grouper, tilapia and I forgot the rest. So much better than Publix where it's salmon or tilapia! We won't buy the crabs again though. Just not enough meat on blue crabs and too much work to get the little you do get. They were good, so if you like this kind of crab, this is the place to get them. We'll be back to try some other kind of fish for sure.

Simple "hut" for fresh seafood. Bring cash and a mask. They filet your fish and then bring it out to your car. The fish and crabs were very fresh and delicious.

Found this place so glad I did... this is the place where I go when I want me some blue crabs oh yes...the only thing I wasn't happy with is that they don't accept plastic cards if you know is what I mean just had to throw that one in Only Cash!! But other than that good place it is...

I love this place the crabs are fresh and the people are nice. Someone said it smelled. IT'S A SEAFOOD STORE! Get over yourself!

This is one of THE best kept secrets in Tampa.We actually started at the Tampa shrimp docks on Business 41 at Versaggi and the guys there told us if we wanted fish or crab to drive north to The Crab Hut.Its small, it smells like fish, and only 4 people can fit inside.....BUTLive blue crab in multiple sizes and fish galore. Their Granddaughter was in helping take orders - she knew how it worked, explained it to us and did a great job.Will we be back: Definitely to get our Crab-On!!

The Crab Hut never disappoints. My family and I have been customers for many years, even when they use to be located on the inner bay of Tampa. They have the freshest seafood and the best selection of blue crabs! I highly recommend The Crab Hut to anyone looking for some good eatin seafood.

Expensive crabs but worth it. Bought a couple dozen larges for a Maryland style dinner. They were legit larges, heavy and all male. I should take a star off for not accepting credit cards in 2022 :) but I want this business to stay in business for dem crabs!
