Thai Star Sushi Bar

Had to leave another review because we came back here a couple weeks ago and this place was a lot better than the first time we came. The fish was great tasting and fresh and I loved the roll I ordered. I think it was the muscle man roll ... it was a deep fried roll with salmon and yellowtail. We also tried the beef spicy basil noodles and they were sooooo tasty. We did not re order the pad Thai because of our last experience , but I wonder now if it has been improved.

We are locals and this is our go to Sushi and Thai restaurant! If you are visiting or live here this is a must!! Best food ever! Small, quaint and tasty unbelievable good food!!

Very unassuming, home-in-the wall sushi and Thai restaurant. The inside is extremely small with only a handful of tables. Service was extremely slow considering we were one of the only two tables seated at the time, to the point where we had to get up and get our own menus at one point because we were tired of waiting for them. The server was very friendly at least. We started with edamame, which came out piping hot and perfectly seasoned. It was my favorite part of the meal. I ordered two different sushi rolls. I found them to be just ok. They were very thin and not presented in the prettiest of manners (the rice seems hacked up and a few of the pieces were falling apart). The description of them sounded better than what I actually got. Nothing special or memorable. My parents had two different hot thai dishes and loved them so maybe I just got the wrong thing. The portion sizes of theirs were huge too. If I go next time I'll try one of the hot dishes instead and stay away from the sushi.

Food was very good. We had lunch portions which were perfect size. I ordered my green curry with chicken medium heat but I could have handled the hot. The chicken was tender and my friend really liked her pad Thai. I will go back again.

Meh. Average or slightly below average food quality with inattentive service. Negatives:When the gal brought the waters, she set them on the table as if she was angry we were inconveniencing her by making her bring us drinks in the first place.The chirashi had fake crab "krab". Gross. I wouldn't feed my dog fake krab. The prices were average, but too expensive for this quality of food. They have escolar on the menu. The focus here is obviously on the Thai food not the sushi.The interior is cluttered, and there's just stuff everywhere. There was a giant pile of napkins laying on the sushi bar next to a bunch of empty boxes.Positives:Parking was easy (Monday afternoon at 3pm)Fair prices for the Thai food if the portions are average (we didn't try the Thai food; only the sushi)We will not be back here.

I said to myself "Self, if I order this Red Curry (Bamboo shoots, bell pepper, basil leaves, coconut milk) Thai hot and it comes Thai hot and not whatever watered down heat level they reserve for white women it is an automatic 5 stars no matter whatever else happens during this meal."And it WAS.My eyes were watering, I was sweating, I was in absolute heaven. It is so rare for me to get to this level of heat and I ate every morsel. Just bonus points that the curry was delicious and we had a very nice server.Also got to try the Gyoza and Chicken Satay - these were good but nothing like that curry. Thank you for giving this old white lady a truly awesome meal.

We ordered a whole spread. Miso soups, a fresh roll, and edamame to start. Golden dragon roll and red hot chili roll (both were amazing) and pineapple fried rice as entrees. The sushi was AMAZING. Highly recommend.

Service was quick and friendly. Absolutely delicious sushi, spring rolls and pad thai. I can see why locals come here. I will definitely be back!!

We were staying in a condo for the weekend within walking distance of Thai Star Sushi Bar. We got in late on a Friday night (around 7 PM) and then walked over to the restaurant around 8 PM. They don't have a large dining room, and it was pretty full in there, but we did manage to get a table right away. They have an extensive Thai and sushi menu. We were all in the mood for Thai, though, so we focused on that. I love Pad Thai, but everyone else at my table was ordering that, so I decided to get something else. I ordered the Thai Spicy Basil Noodle (hot). It was delicious and spicy. I tried a little bit of the Pad Thai, too, and it was flavorful as well. The food came out quickly, too!Our server was great. She was super friendly and attentive. We only wanted waters for our beverages, and they come in these giant-sized Mason jars. Thai Star is a great local place to avoid the madness of the crowds at the beach.

Could be great, but under staffed and can't even manage hours of operation listed on website and front door. When it's not overwhelmed it can be decent... missing the boat get your act together!
