Food Review: Texas Cattle Company - Lakeland, FLTexas Cattle Company delivers the quintessential rustic Southern steakhouse experience, from its warm, wood-accented atmosphere to the unmistakable aroma of prime steaks sizzling over an open wood pit, infused with Florida citrus and oak. This isn't just a meal--it's an experience, one that consistently delivers on quality, service, and ambiance.Service here is always impeccable, and the food? Equally outstanding. Tonight, I went straight for a 12 Ounce Center Cut Filet Mignon, cooked to perfection--tender, flavorful, and expertly seared over the open flame. To elevate the experience, I added the Colossal Shrimp Scampi, a rich and garlicky complement to the steak. A Baked Potato with Butter and Bacon rounded out the meal, the kind of simple yet indulgent side that never disappoints. To drink, I opted for a Cherry Wood Smoked Old Fashioned, which brought a bold, smoky sweetness that paired beautifully with the meal.Texas Cattle Company never misses, and it's a spot I always enjoy returning to. If you're in the area, this is a must-visit for a true steakhouse experience. Just be sure to grab a reservation--this place stays busy for good reason!

Expensive, slow, and honestly just not that good. I had been to Charley's before and enjoyed it so I thought this would be basically the same. Unfortunately it was not. I ordered my steak Medium rare and it came out blue. So after a long time of waiting for the waitstaff to come by again I sent it back. My companion was already finished with her meal by this time. So it came back quite awhile later and....i don't know. I have been eating steak medium rare my whole life and this one wasn't that either. It was closer to medium rare, but it still wasn't. It was chewy and cold on the inside. Which a filet should never be. I ended up taking it home and putting it on the grill for a few minutes to get it right. They did take my steak off the bill. But even then - 1 entree, 1 appetizer, an unsweetened tea and a coke still somehow cost me $90. Not sure how that's possible but I guess it is. Their steak fries were very good. I'll give them that.

We made reservations and were seated as soon as we arrived. A member of our party was in a wheelchair and this restaurant was very accommodating for that with ramps and seating. The manager and staff were extremely friendly and helpful. We all ordered different steaks. I ordered a center cut Filet mignon 12 oz. Someone else order 22oz ribeye, someone else ordered the cowgirl T-bone, and our last person ordered the petite filet mignon. All the steaks were cooked perfectly! Enjoyed every bite! We also order the gator as an appetizer which was tasty but a bit chewy... a bit over cooked. Someone ordered the shrimp and lobster bisque and he said it was amazing! The Loaded Baked potato's were really very good, and the garlic butter broccoli was a surprising hit! The side salads were a waste, it was under dressed and nothing was in it... just lettuce. The cheesy bread was yummy! They mixed our drinks perfectly! Our waiter was so funny and on top of everything. The atmosphere was a western vintage and family friendly. We were able to have good conversations at the table without feeling neighbors were on top of us! I wish I could have tried desserts but I was so full! We will definitely go again. Really enjoyed ourselves.

We went for our 25th anniversary celebration and this was by far the best meal we've had in our 4 years in Lakeland!! We made a reservation on our way there and when we were seated there was a card signed by the staff which was an awesome touch. The service was perfect from beginning to end. It appeared they had all of us parties celebrating something off in a side room which was kinda of cool because the rest of the place was busy. I don't even know where to start when it comes to describing the food! This was the best meal I've had in a very long time!! It's pricey but worth every penny. Thank you for making our night special.

Nice food, steak is good, looks very popular at that area, close to a lake and you can take a lake walk after the dinner. Nice wine and bar.

I visited this restaurant for my partner's birthday. He has dined at this location a few times, yet, this was my first time; he was fixated on having the "free" birthday steak. The sign is still hanging outside, however, there is no longer a free birthday steak. There's the option to get $33 off of a steak (about $60+) and be automatically charged a 21% gratuity (I was in a party of 2). I always leave a tip but, unless it's a large party or beach resort, I'd like for it to be my option rather than gratuity and a tip (gratuity was $34: two main entrees and a few drinks). As for the food, I ordered the Texas tips. They were okay; a bit too medium for the medium well that I ordered. The mashed potatoes were good, and the mushrooms (extra charge) were okay. Service was just okay also. Very standard and formal (not too friendly or communicative) and we were charged for an item we didn't receive. There wasn't much interaction, recommendations, etc. Overall, I went because my partner was excited to have his birthday dinner here. I heard some people get a birthday song or a group celebration; we did not, so maybe it was just for specific parties or occasions. I doubt I return, because I don't see anything significant or special for a $200 bill. The up-charges seem to be after the reopening; however, the experience should still match.

The food is good, but a little overpriced. I get that the schtick is "cooked over a wood fire," but no seasoning at all. The wood fire thing's a little overrated. The steak was bland. The service was good, but the waitress was overwhelmed and kind of forgot about us. I ordered a loaded baked potato and the guy starts preparing it for you without looking at what you actually don't want to include on the potato....not good for like a $12 potato, lol. The restaurant it self is cozy, dark, and feels like a high end steakhouse...just kind of ehhh overall. Def not worth the money.

We had a reservation which is highly recommended. Got in right on time. Service was fantastic. Ordered appetizers fried mushrooms. Huge serving. For the main course we both ordered petite filets. They were cooked to our preference. Mouth watering. Wow. A great experience. I ordered the broccoli but have to take it home . I will definitely come back. This is a great restaurant and worth your time for a wonderful experience.

Outstanding! I have had filet Minion in several parts of the country, but NEVER as tender and juicy as their 12 oz. We arrived early but were warmly greeted and immediately seated in a comfortable boot. The server was there right away, friendly and welcomed us as it was our first time in this place. My wife is partially disabled and was given assistance to go to the ladies room. Although not everyone loves country music (BUT I DO) and it added to the atmosphere. The assistant manager stopped by TWICE to make certain everything was excellent and even opened the door for us to leave. BOTTOM LINE: Food was excellent. loved the salad, best steak ever. SERVICE: 5 star. AMBIANCE: Western comfortable. Highly recommend and we will certainly be back!

We wanted so badly to love this place. We had a reservation but still waited over twenty minutes for our table. It was my fiancés birthday and we both were really hungry after work.We got the gator to start and it was extremely chewy. Normally the gator I'm used to is very tender, so I'm not sure how fresh it was.Our entrees were a disaster. I ordered the filet medium rare and it came out well done. My fiancé got the bison ribeye and it came out mooing! It was supposed to be medium and it came out bloody rare and cold. The server had the ribeye cooked up and mine remade but they still couldn't get it right. The asparagus was soggy, cheesy bread was tough and cold and the salad was drowning in dressing. We were so disappointed because we love Charley's in Tampa and they are sister restaurants but don't even compare. Hoping to find a great steakhouse in Lakeland but I don't think that we will be back because of our experience.
