I really wanted to like Tchotchke's since it's super local to me, but sadly it's not for me. I was impressed upon first walking in, they've gussied up the place really cute. It's got a cozy, fresh vibe. The waitresses seemed nice. We popped in for breakfast and were able to get seated right away. They have a somewhat limited menu, but have most of the typical breakfast stuff. My complaint was this: - the pancakes had some really weird aftertaste. There was something used in the ingredients that doesn't belong, or isn't standard. It almost tasted like coffee creamer. Or maybe a hint of lemon. I couldn't quite put my finger on it, but it was weird. I also didn't care for the consistency of the pancakes, while they were super thick, they were also fairly dry.- they use peppered bacon (only option). It's different. It wasn't horrible, but it wasn't my favorite. It was also kinda chewyLike i said, the place just isn't for me. Maybe y'all will enjoy it more than I did. I really prefer to support small local places, so i do hope that they do well. Give 'em a try for yourself!!

Cute diner atmosphere...I really wanted to like the food :(The biscuits were very dry and the scrambled eggs and fried chicken were also overcooked and dry. Large portions (everything that came out looked good) but overall just missed for me.

New place where Munches used to be. Man I miss that place. Walking in you can see the remnants of the OG but it is freshened up. Lots of great sounding options but as others have noted it is pricey. Everything is in teens. I grabbed the Rueben. Really really good. Cooked well with nice toasted and buttered bread. Deb had the shrimp n grits. Very good as well! Lots of great flavors and big chunks of andouille sausage Alexa our server was great. Very attentive and offered great suggestions. Ambience is laid back. Nice place. Prices are high but the food we had was really good so I don't mind paying a little more but I do hope they lower them a bit.

I love this place! I've always loved a good diner. I lived in NYC for 45 years and it's famous for having so many good neighborhood diners. My first time I got a standard breakfast: 2 eggs over medium, potatoes, and sourdough toast (my fav!). I brought a friend on my second visit. He'd been curious about this new place where Munch's used to be. He loved it, too! He got a huge breakfast of homemade biscuit w rich sausage gravy, potatoes & toast, and ate nearly every bite of that huge plate of food. I myself got the shakshuka, and the tomato and onion sauce was very fresh and the poached eggs perfectly done (no runny white with a soft yolk), and sourdough toast (always). It was delicious and a very healthful meal.On the advice of Lee, the wonderful and friendly waitress, I ordered the lemon ginger herbal tea and it was fabulous! I gave up caffeine and it's hard for me to get a good drink to go with my meal in most restaurants. Clearly these folks know what they're doing.I like the atmosphere, old fashioned diner decorations (the eponymous tchotchkes on the walls, very charming!) in a clean, fresh and bright room. There are plenty of tables and a nice diner-type counter as well.I'm so glad for this new addition to the neighborhood. I'm bringing my husband here this weekend. He's going to LOVE it!

Unfortunately this place was a disappointment. Our friends had gone here months earlier & raved about the Reuben sandwich. So we met up with them today, & all 4 of us ordered Reuben's. The waitress, Alexa, was excellent and personable. Sadly the food was the opposite. Our friends told us these were not the same sandwiches they had months ago. Instead of being loaded with pastrami, each sandwich had maybe 2 slices in them. They were thin instead of thick. There was little to no dressing in them. The sandwiches were seriously burned and hard on the outside & way overcooked. To make matters worse, the price for each thin sandwich was $17. In addition to all this, it was hot & stuffy inside the restaurant, & we were sweating while we ate. This is not how to make repeat customers. I am sure months ago Tchotchke was quite the place. But today it was way past its heyday.

I have been patiently waiting to leave a review for my first experience at Tchotchke and PLEASE know that this review is coming from a place of earnest feedback, a passionate local and someone who was really rooting for the "comeback" of a great family friendly place following Munch's exit.I want to start with the positive: loved the staff "uniforms", jimmy buffet style shirts. It made for a friendly and upbeat arrival. I love the decor as well. Very clean and diner-style. I *did* enjoy my meal, but.....We ordered two of the same exact dishes: two eggs, sliced tomatoes, toast and 2 slices of bacon. Additionally, two drip coffees. There is absolutely no situation where I could ever justify us walking out, after tip, having spent $54 on a basic breakfast for two people, in a low to moderate income area on the south side of town. When we received our initial bill, we actually thought it was a mistake. We came to find the bacon cost extra but is conveniently labeled on the menu in a font much smaller than the rest of the menu. Five extra dollars each for bacon? Sheesh! But fine. FIVE EXTRA DOLLARS EACH FOR SLICED TOMATO?! Absolutely not. Four dollars each for basic, drip coffee?! This isn't Starbucks...Come on guys. This is just irresponsible. Take at look within a three mile radius of this restaurant. It's honestly insulting. Who are you advertising to? Do you actually WANT nice families from the area to be able to afford a meal here? I can't even imagine the average local popping in to grab lunch at the counter for less than $25 and that's just ridiculous for a DINER.I'm so disappointed. Another local restaurant price-gouging its REAL LOCALS. Would I expect this north of 5th st south? Yes. But here? Honestly, it breaks my heart. I hope you will take this review into account. Please find a way to adjust your menu prices. The locals WANT you! But do you want the locals?

The coffee was cold. We told the staff. They brought more cold coffee. The place is cute. The wait staff very nice. Loved the bathroom wallpaper.Six of us had different menu items, the fried eggs over easy were well done, very well done. The poached eggs were hard boiled! They did tell us we could bring in coffee from the coffee shop next store. We really wanted to like this place but they made it impossible
