Tara's Roti Shop

The place needs major repairs and the owner is not friendly at all she seems to not know anything about customer service and the understanding that we do not have to give our hard earned money to her with her attitude. I recommend a big NO unless you like to give your money to someone who seems to be annoyed with you being there...... food taste? BLAND

Not much has changed. Sara is running tings and everything is made to order and takes 20-30 minutes to wait. I've been going here for more than 20 years and my mom was going to Tara's before this was the location. My mom prefers bone IN curry chicken and I prefer the boneless. We also got some black cake by the slice and sorrel which is so good, everything is good. It's a little bit of a small dry good grocery. I picked up some pepper sauce, tamarind balls and curry powder while I was here. There's plenty of parking and don't be alarmed by the plaza, it's older but all is fine. A tip, you can call ahead and place an order to save time picking up. If you paying with card you can't add a tip so bring cash. If you are in the delivery area, food delivery apps pickup and you can done in with a few booth tables. Be prepared, don't be shy or soft spoken or Sara will eat you alive. Also, you order your food first and wait and then pay when your order is ready. Of all the places that have come and gone in Tampa to get roti, this is the only place to go. Reminds me of my Aunt Stephies roti. Also, she doesn't sell skins, don't ask lol! Rest in Power Tara!

Oxtail with greens was amazingly flavorful and portions generous.The greens were the best. Beats Carribean crown.Plantains were not good and tasted old and reheated Curry goat was ok, just not great.Double was excellent.Will definitely be visiting again

Finally found some yummy doubles! I really love them and used to get them in Queens all the time. I'm so glad I found a place that makes them really well. I also ordered a roti and a curry chicken and they were also really good. My husband ordered a goat dish. This will be my go-to spot when I want a doubles fix.

Tara is not allowed dine in during pandemic. But the take out is available. The store open to customers who want generous on the quantity portion. I got the the stew Oxtail. This dish come with one side of choices and rice. I have the cabbage as side. The oxtail is stew in high pressure to separate from the bone. Number oxtail given was three big pieces and one small piece. The rice was given generously so you will have full stomach. Great for dinner portions. Overall experience is at average. Food is ok. Definitely is budget place in compare to many restaurants.

Amazing food! I ordered through Uber eats and it was a far drive to me and the food came piping hot. My girlfriend and I loved everything we ordered! I wish I took pictures but I didn't get too. We ordered the curry goat and curry shrimp roti (roti on the side) we also ordered the curry shrimp meal with rice and pees. The tamarind sauce . The pepper in the meal was perfect but then again I love spice lol. Would definitely order again!!

Food is good, but it has the worst customer service. She was rude to me when I asked how much longer I need to wait for the food since she told me 30 mins and I asked after 30 mins. A customer in front of me asked if the food was marked to know which one had no pepper, and she said it is a stupid question. Very rude woman, I would avoid.

The food at Tara's remains excellent even after Ms Tara's passing. Her daughter has done an outstanding job to keep giving me the quality of food I've grown accustomed to for over 30 years. However, the quality of the food can't overshadow the rude behavior of her daughter when answering the phone and serving guests. She acts as though she doesn't want to be bothered and isn't enjoying what she does. The common conversation amongst those who have patronized the restaurant for many years is how rude the daughter is to customers. Tara always talked to customers as they ate going from table to table. It was as though you were visiting her house. It was so pleasant to visit and worth the drive from St Pete. If the daughter no longer has the passion for running the business, rather than treat customer rudely, close shop.Love the food, dislike the service.

Not only amazing food, but amazing customer service! Sarah was super nice and made our experience enjoyable! I loved how there is so much selection of choices from snacks, to drinks, to food. I definitely recommend coming here!

The roti here is amazing.It's authentic Trinidadian and flavor no it's a family-owned business that's been keeping up their reputation for years, and serving up the best flavors of the islands
