Southern Nights Tampa

I have been in Southern Nights Tampa many times and it has always been a nice place to hang out at. For being the #1 gay bar in Tampa though I do believe it can improve a little. The DJ set is normally the same every night and the place always seems very dirty, also the AC always turns off (or it feels like) at some point of the night and gets really hot. Despite that, the drink promotions are always great, and the performances are show stopping and the staff are always nice and treat you extremely well. Will be coming back very soon!

Fun place just wish they would open both sides earlier. A lot of times they have events on the other side so I understand I just like that area better from a dance perspective.

Haha, why everybody is so negative with Southern Nights? Of course it's going to have some of the usual club headaches. Nothing new about that. Yeah, they have a cover charge after 9 or 10 or so. A lot of popular places do.During COVID, they are trying their best at mitigating the spread. You have to have a seat and can't be standing for the drag shows. However, I'd consider it pretty crowded still so I'd advise taking precautions.Every time I have gone, I have had a good experience. They always have good drag performances. There is always a crowd. And I think they are an essential part of the gay scene of Tampa.#SupportYourLocalDragQueens

I was a bit weary as the last reviews didn't seem great but we wanted to find a queer club where we felt comfortable in. So we took the chance. I hadn't been to a club since 2020 and was so happy with the scene! Had a great time and I can't wait to come back. The music was great. The drinks were yummy. And the bartenders were attentive and quick.

FUN night out, great decor & yummy drinks what else could you ask for!?A must visit for a great night out in Tampa! The Staff is super friendly the performers are beyond amazing! And the overall vibe of the place was great the crowd was very energetic and if you're looking for a great spot to hang out with friends, take great pics, and enjoy the night with an awesome Drag Show look no further ! I hope to visit again when in town as this was my first time last weekend and surely didn't disappoint !

I started coming to southern nights tampa when I moved here for college a couple months ago. All of the staff and management is amazing. I have made so many strong friendships and they have given me a place to start my drag career through their Wednesday night drag competition (sytycd). Everyone here is like a big family and I'm forever grateful for them all. My singular suggestion is that they implement a college night once a month since there's so many college kids in the area (UT, USF, etc) where they do a reduced cover if you show your college ID before a certain time to bring out the younger crowd in the community. I think it would be really fun and a great way to engage with the younger queer community in Tampa. Honestly the biggest reason I want this is because I love my door diva Genesis but that 20 dollar cover really does add up when I attend 2 nights a week every week

Unfortunately, this is not the club you want to spend your money at. The management and employees are extremely rude & service is very slow. I've been here a hand full of times and it's not been a good time ever. I strongly you suggest you take your money somewhere else. Idk who's in charge here but check your staffs attitude.

Drag queens ruling the floor and busting out the moves - why the hate? lolAlso, $3/beer vs. My $5 Yuengling from Double Decker so I'm not upset and my coworkers and I were able to hit up the VIP area since our friend brought us to the area. The bartender in the back was quit slow and not able to make lemon drop shots so definitely had to drop a star. Other than that, my coworkers and I dropped it like it was hot on the spacious dance floor in the back area with a DJ pushing out good songs!

I was so excited to come here to see one of the drag queens from Rupaul's Drag Race. I traveled across FL and spent the weekend in Tampa just to come here. After being misled on social media about when the show was and the club atmosphere, I was left VERY UNHAPPY. So I showed up at 9 when doors open "for the drag queen" to find out the show started at 12. At 12, I then heard it started at 1. At 1 AM, the openers started. The place was PACKED. The staff does not care about the customers. I watched people pass out in crowds. You couldn't move. IT WAS AWFUL. It was disgustingly full. There was not one ounce of space and the environment was dangerous so I was left with no other option than to leave before the drag queen ever even came out. RIDICULOUS. ANGRY. AWFUL. 0/10 NEVER COME HERE. I would expect queens from Rupaul's Drag Race to recognize this mess. Very disappointing.
