This little sandwich shop doesn't look like much, but I have to tell you, the food is FANTASTIC! It's been here for a long time, and the family that owns/runs it are super friendly.Their chili is one of my favorite items, which runs neck-in-neck with their cuban sandwich. SOOO GOOD! I don't buy cuban sandwiches from anywhere else in Polk County, because they all make them wrong! I am a sort-of cuban sandwich connoisseur, who used to drive all of the way to Tampa/Ybor City multiple times a month, just for a decent Cuban sandwich. But since I found Soup 'R Cuban sandwich shop, I don't need to make that long drive nearly as often, for a sandwich that is as close to authentic as it can be. They make them when you place the order, not ahead of time, and they use REAL Cuban bread... so your sandwich is always fresh and delicious, as it should be.They have a variety of other sandwiches, soups, multiple delicious lunch entree meals and even yummy desserts to round off your meal. And they even sell Cuban bread loaves, in case you want to make cuban toast in the morning! This place is great! It's been my GO TO for Cuban sandwiches in Polk County for many years, and will continue to be my Cuban sandwich/Chili place for as long as I have teeth to chew the sandwiches with.... And even then, I'll still go here and just "gum" my sandwich until I can get it down my throat. Lol! Yes, their food is THAT good!

I stumbled upon this little hole-in-the-wall spot and decided to stop by and check it out. We ended up ordering the Cuban sandwich special, which included a 10-inch Cuban and a 32-ounce drink. They also offer a 7-inch Cuban with a cup of soup, but since it's still hot out, I opted for the sandwich and drink combo.I have to say, this meal brought back memories of my childhood, when I used to enjoy Cuban sandwiches in Miami. I'm so glad I decided to give this place a try--it was definitely worth it! The atmosphere was cozy, and the staff was super friendly, making the experience even better. What really impressed me was the simplicity and authenticity of the Cuban sandwich. There's nothing overly creative or unnecessary added to it--just a classic, perfectly crispy Cuban sandwich that hits all the right notes. It's been around for over 20 years and truly deserves the recognition. Now that I've found a spot close to home, I'm looking forward to enjoying many more Cuban sandwiches here. A must-stop for anyone craving an authentic Cuban sandwich!

This is no exaggeration. Simply the BEST Cuban sandwich in Florida. I've never been disappointed in 24 years.

Stopped in with my friend. The man working did not greet us when we walked in. His personality is dry and matter of fact. The place is very old and appears to have been around a long time. The signs say 23 years, so they must be doing something right. The food is mediocre at best. I enjoyed the crab roll. The Philly cheese steak didn't come with enough meat. I ended up putting it all on one side to save myself the calories of eating empty bread. I believe it's overpriced for the portion sizes.

An afternoon lunch with The Wife.I have been wanting to try this place heard great things, but I think the great things are from long time locals and that's why it's been around for so long.First this place is not a CUBAN Sandwich shop it's a plain sandwich shop. You would think with Cuban in the name they would put more quality into it.We both got 2 Cuban special's came with drinks and we also ordered a cup of soup for $28.62, the soup was very small for $4.79 would not pay Panera prices for this quality of soup again.Let's start with the bad and end on the good.Service: we walked in a stood there for a min while the guy at the counter just sat there. I said Hi how are you, he said good thanks for asking what can I get you in a semi bothered tone.Honestly we did not feel welcome rather gave us the feeling of order and move on so I can sit here and do nothing, as that is all he did while we were there. I did see a few people come in for pick ups and there phone was ringing with orders a couple times, but from the feel & look of cleanliness to this place I see why most would get there food to go.The sauce bottles were all old and disgusting laid out across a counter like they were on display, the just made me want to stay away!!!The Potato bacon soup: tasted like old soup, the potatoes were mush, cream was watery and the color was dark, sure signs your soup is old. We took 1 bite each just to try it and pushed it to the side. The Cubans: the meat was thick cut cheap deli meat, not fresh cooked ham or even good deli meat as it was watery. I know there's allot of variations for this sandwich, but this was my least favorite ever!!!It was a ham sandwich pressed with lettuce, tomatoes, a few small sliced pickles, mayo/mustard and onions, The onions were the freshest best part of the inside components. Now for the good the bread was awesome, both me and the wife loved the bread.Other than the bread there is nothing special about the sandwiches or the soups, but I am sure this is a great place for close locals who just want to grab a sandwich on some good bread and support a small business. They have been open for 21yrs, but if their quality in cleanliness, customer service or food ingredient choices doesn't change, I hope the locals can keep this place going because they will not attract new customers with how they are currently running this place.Ultimately we will not return, but if to grab some bread and go home to make our own sandwiches with it.Try it for yourself and make up your own mind, just don't expect greatness!!!i

The sandwiches were decent but not traditional Cuban flavor. They were bread heavy but fresh. The Cuban tamales were mushy. Their soup selection is good but not traditional Cuban either.

Great Cubans! One of the best ever! The ladies working there were super friendly! The place was simple and maybe needed a wee bit of scrubbing but it could have just been the age of the building etc. we will go back!
