Went to Sonata on my birthday! The view was phenomenal, and the service was on point. The menu was impressive! I particularly enjoyed the braised short rib eggrolls & purple potato puree I selected the Diver Scallops with spinach goat cheese polenta and mushroom sun dried tomato ragout - it didn't disappoint! My date had the smoked duck with goat cheese gnocchi and roasted vegetables. Our friends enjoyed the grouper and the filet. Desserts were delicious, and we had plenty of food to take home as well! They may be starting a regular buffet style brunch soon as well. It's worth a try if you're looking for something different. Note: We were there on a night there was no show at the theater so we didn't have the issues mentioned in other posts that came along with that . Figuring out parking was a little confusing, but we managed. P.S. Chef Dorsey visited with us at the and was a most gracious host

Food was amazing! My friend had the short rib and I had the pork in the red wine sauce. I forget what it's called. I wish I took a picture of them because they were a sight to behold! The restaurant is upstairs and yes there is an evaluator available. Service was friendly and knowledgeable. Shout out to Paris and Aaron for taking care of us. I came for the moon, but apparently they take it down for Formula 1. Darn race cars cramping my style. All and all I had a great experience and would love to come back to seeing the full moon hanging!

We were so fortunate to have an unexpected visit to Sonata this past Wednesday night before a show at the Mahaffey Theatre. We arrived early enough to the venue to ask the really kind and personable host if we might be able to go upstairs to Sonata for a glass of wine. He told us the bar was full but we could have a table. We told him we did not want to take up a dining table for just a glass of wine. His amazing customer service had him tell us that they were not fully booked before the show and they would love to have us join them. So, upstairs we went with a very kind colleague of his and we were given a stellar table on the glass railing that provided us a wonderful view of the marina and waterfront skyline. Jamie was our server and even though he was quite busy with the crowd for the show, he gave us exceptional service. We wanted for nothing - our wine was delivered in a timely manner and the menu looked and read so tasty that we ordered an appetizer. That came in a very quick time frame and Jamie allowed us to order an additional glass of wine and put it in plastic for us to take downstairs to theatre.I am telling all of you - get over to Sonata soon! The menu reads beautifully, the Chef is a well-known local chef (Ted Dorsey), and they are executing some fine food. The manager was very visible, had a smile and a kind word for all of us it appeared, and you can tell the staff is proud to work here. We noted that they have quite an inviting happy hour so make that your first reason to stop by Sonata soon!

My boyfriend and I had the loveliest date night at Sonata. It was a little belated Valentines date for us, and it couldn't have been more dreamy. We heard about this restaurant through Instagram, it was showcasing the moon art installation and man did it live up to the imagery in the videos and pictures! When we arrived there was a little bit of a wait despite having a reservation, it was only about 15 minutes and we didn't mind because there's a little walk-up bar in the waiting area so we decided to grab a drink and take pictures of the stunning piece of art. The moon is huge, unmissable right when you walk in the restaurant and also easily seen from any table on the 2nd floor where Sonata dining takes place.Once we were seated we were promptly greeted by our waiter, he seemed very knowledgeable about the menu and was quick to give us recommendations based on what we said we liked - he was very attentive and we really loved that. To start the night we ordered the Spreads & Breads and the Braised Short Rib Eggrolls along with a bottle of pinot noir, Belle Glos 'Clark & Telephone' - the wine was fantastic and the spreads and breads is worth going back for on it's own - the gorgonzola fondue that comes out with this platter might be one of my favorite dipping sauces of all time. It's delicious. The eggrolls were tasty as well, but definitely a second to the spreads & breads. For our meals we ordered the Australian Wagyu Burger and the Crispy House Smoked Duck - both of these entrees were mouth watering and we would 100% order them again. The wagyu burger had fantastic flavor and melted in your mouth, that's one hell of a burger. I'm a HUGE duck lover and this crispy smoked duck did not disappoint - the duck itself fell off the bone, it was so flavorful and it paired perfectly with the goat cheese gnocchi and roasted root vegetables - the combination was my ideal dinner meal. We had to order dessert, because the ambiance was so nice we just wanted to savor everything, we ordered the cinnamon swirl cheesecake - if you enjoy cheesecake there's no way you won't love this. It's a perfect shareable size. There was a violinist/pianist/vocalist performing through the night and it really made the restaurant come alive - she was magnificent. Our service the entire night was nothing short of incredible - our waiter was super nice, very personable, and it made the evening feel even more perfect than it already was - service like that is worth noting and he really set the bar high. He also offered to take our pictures for us (without seeming the least bit bothered by it, which isn't always the case) with the art installation of the moon and he knew quite a bit about the installation and wowed us with some facts about the art that we didn't know or read about online! This is a perfect spot for a romantic evening, I would definitely recommend.

Came here for the vibe and that's a good thing because the food fell a little short of wowing us. I made reservations here for my husband's birthday when I found out that they had an art installation of the moon which was supposedly an exact replica. Really gave a new meaning to moonlit dinner. Very low key vibe and had a wonderful live entertainment that night.Service: Service was good.Cocktails: Decent selection of craft cocktails.Appetizers: We ordered the house specialty Pork Belly Burnt Ends - Nice flavor but super chewy. Grilled oysters - 1/2 dozen. They were really good and I highly enjoyed these.Entree: I got the Seared Diver Scallops. I expected to have a knockout dish because it sounded so good on paper. In reality, the polenta was super salty and the flavors didn't really mesh well together. At least the scallops were cooked nicely. Overall, if it weren't for the display and the nice photos we took, this dinner itself would've been a bit disappointing.

Food is very good. It is obvious that the chefs in the back are very talented. Tuna and short rib was delish! Unfortunately, the price for the portion sizes are way off. Very delicious, but it's just not doing it for me with the pricing. Ambiance is good, but nothing overly "wow" to make it the sophisticated place they're going for-that which matches the food. The moon is a cool touch, but everything else is just average aesthetically. Bar tenders and entire wait staff just misses the mark. I worry for the longevity of this restaurant purely for that. Everyone is friendly, but you'd think it was their first day in comparison to the cost to dine here and what you get. We had to wave down the lady behind the bar to get our tab because our table was ready and saw that she was doing shots behind the wall. Not what I'd expect from a place like that. Our server was a very nice young man, but we had to watch our food get cold while he went to the back to get plates so we could share. The common area to the kitchen is also right by the bathrooms, which are shared with the theater. Makes for a very high trafficked area when there's a show like there was when we went. I'm glad we checked out this new spot but there's better options to dine in the area for the price.

Checked out Sonata for Sunday brunch. Alonzo was our server and provided excellent service. Low key place with great food and ambiance. Highly recommend if you're looking to change it up. Great view, beautiful room. Go for it.

You have to go through security to get into the restaurant. Our server , Jordan, was super nice and attentive even though they were short staffed. The crowd are mainly older people who dress nicely. Ambience was nice. The food was super good! They have happy hour until 7pm.

Lovely setting over looking the marina. Dinner was delicious and waitress was very good.We came back after the show for dessert because we saw a picture of a delicious looking "chocolate bourbon cake with butter icing".What we actually got was a brownie /cookie molton hot mess with vanilla cream.....no bourbon at all. We expressed our displeasure with the manager who only made excuses about the menu photographer. We tried to eat it....Message to the wise....DON'T ORDER THE CHOCOLATE BOURBON LESS CAKE
