Shiso Crispy

We were downtown for a show at the Straz on a weekday. We didn't have time to eat before the show and Shiso Crispy was open and not a long walk at all. First, I was surprised (not disappointed!) that this was a food truck. No worries at all. There are some cute little covered tables and bar height chairs to enjoy your food and it was a gorgeous night. We ordered Bang Bang Chicken Bowl and two orders of Bao Buns to share, the tuna and the short rib. This was a one man operation with a lot of customers to feed so it took a bit for the food to be ready. No problem at all. When it did come, one of our orders of Bao buns was missing. Easily remedied. The Bang Bang Chicken was very good, but not a whisper of heat in the vicinity. Like it was temperature hot, but where was the Bang? Mush less the Bang Bang? The rice was terrific. But dang I wanted some kind of heat from the chicken.I opened up the Bao buns and my heart sank. They were COVERED in a dark vegetal substance. I hoped it was seaweed but in my heart, I knew. I have a pesky and ongoing allergy to cabbage and these days, restaurants are straight up leaving it off of descriptions and surprising me with it. I get that menu boards have limited space, but when the dish has three components- bun, meat and slaw (and loads and loads of slaw), it's worth mentioning. Especially since the word slaw only has four teensy letters. My friend did a taste test and yep- purple cabbage. For Pete's sake.I spent a considerable amount of time removing every speck and sliver of cabbage and trying the tuna bun. It was fine. I know why it had a slaw, and am sure I'd have liked it much better had I been able to eat it as intended. But had I known the slaw was a component I wouldn't have ordered it at all. If I'm in the area and need sustenance, I would definitely get a bowl with that delicious rice. But sadly, I'm not rushing back.

We came here on a Saturday around 8pm. The flavors here, amazing! We ordered and food service took about 20 mins. This is a food truck and we didn't want to eat outside at the tables so We had a 10 minute drive home. By time we got home our food was ice cold. The packing isn't great so I assume that's why the heat didn't keep. Also the food tasted as if it was fried really hard & like the oil tasted kind of burnt. I'd try this place again bc the flavors were so good. I'd just come earlier in the day

It is about 3.5 stars. The food truck price is almost the restaurant with physical address price. It is a tall task for the value of the food to compare a sit down order restaurant. We got the ahi tuna rice plate. The slices of ahi tuna is a bit little less for the value we have paid. Event the side is less of number. Overall is a good to try and been there.

Food was yummy and although there was only one individual worker on the truck he was keeping up and pushing out orders in a timely manner! Our order only took about 15 mins, took a quick walk at river walk across the street to kill time. Flavor was on point and we'll definitely be back!

Best I ever had. Yes and I say that with conviction, it is the best I have ever, personally, tasted.Japanese food truck. The tables out front are super cute. The woman that took my order was helpful, kind and polite. :) It's a bit of a wait for the food so my recommendation is get more than you need to take home so the wait makes sense unless you have some time to chill and wait for an order. However, there is an upside to this. The food you can watch them make fresh in front of you. She even said, "sorry for the wait. I wanted to make sure they were super fresh." Well, how lovely. The end result? Divine Boa buns. BoasJackfruit- 10/10Bang bang- 10/10Steak 8/10 - but to other buns not here it's probably a 10. Bang bang meal - so divine - you crave it again right after you eat it. I legit bit into and went mmmm. You know the flavors are great, texture is great. Must experience and it's soooo worth it. The food here is fire!!! The portions are large enough to share, or have leftovers! The service is always pleasant! The flavors are robust, food is hot,& rice is perfect every time! My only complaint is that I have been here multiple times and they are always out of the Gyozas no matter what time I come. If you have had them you will understand my disappointment. I would rather they just change the menu to not include them. However they do have other yummy options, from the choices they do have!

Amazing food with great service! Comfortable outside seating. I really do not eat from food trucks; however, I read so many good reviews I felt like it was worth a try. I was extremely pleased!

My girlfriend and I recently moved into Element in downtown Tampa and kept noticing this food truck, so we finally decided to try it. From the moment we arrived, Terry greeted us warmly and made us feel at home. He was incredibly professional, personable, and knowledgeable about food, offering detailed menu explanations and even sharing local food recommendations.The food itself was outstanding--prepared quickly and with impressive attention to detail--but what really stood out was the experience. Our conversation with Terry took everything to another level. This food truck is now a staple for us, and we can't wait to go back!

The Bang Bang Chicken Dirty Nice is next level. This place is great , quick , and consistent. Will need to try some other stuff!

Really great food, went there today they were quick and service was great as well! I really do recommend this place
