Retro House Asian Bistro

This is a nice little place for takeout Asian fusion bites.They are located in the outskirts of Ybor, and they are the only open business in the little mini mall, so there's plenty of parking. There is very limited seating inside the restaurant, so if there are more than 2 of you, expect to get the food to go.I went with my son for lunch. We ordered the dan dan siu mai, the cucumber salad, and an umami bowl. I was sad that the coffee bar isn't set up yet, so we got bottled drinks from the refrigerator (they have some Felicitous iced tea and iced coffee).The food is all made to order, and there was only the chef running the front and the back of the house, so it wasn't a fast meal. I liked the cucumber salad, which had a tiny kick but was mild enough that my kid could eat it. The siu mai wasn't dan dan enough for me, but my son liked that because he didn't like the peanut sauce, and once removed, the dumpling was like a standard siu mei. We actually weren't very hungry, so we ended up taking the rice bowl home, but it was a huge serving with a nicely fried egg on top, and it reheated well.I think this is more of a takeout place, and I appreciate how visual the food is, but the offerings are very limited, so I would think of this as more of a niche bistro than a general restaurant.

Stopped in to Retro House because I was in the area and have been meaning to check it out. I heard about it from Felicitous (where I've been going for about a decade). It's a quick take out spot in an unassuming little area in Ybor. I went mid day, and it was quick service. The staff were kind to help me decide what I should get based on taste and portion sizes. For now, I just went with an order of bao and I also got their Hong Kong lemon tea. That was really tasty, but not sure I would get a drink again specifically for price point vs portion size. But the bao was really yummy with perfectly steamed buns and delicious fillings. I chose the curry chicken and a pork and shrimp. It wasn't busy when I went; I sat in my car with my dog while I waited and they brought it out to me which was thoughtful and kind :) Overall, I'm excited to go back and try more of the menu!

Tampa Bay's must-try newest dim sum!As someone that has had dim sum in many different countries, I can tell you that this is expertly crafted. Classically mastered techniques and quality with an innovative twist. All still capturing authentic flavors.Somehow all brought to Tampa in a casual and modest way.What have we done to be so lucky to deserve this? My favorite is always different versions of their iconic fluffy baozi. I can go on with more details, but you really should try it for yourself.

It combines coffee from Felicitous, Asian creative food all made in house and retro vibes in a small place just west of Ybor. This neighborhood is starting to really happen for the indie food and bakery scene!The Asian food is all to go, all made fresh and all delicious. In fact, my wonderful wife called it Yummilicious! You've helped create a winner here!The coffee side of the new business is still in the works but will hopefully be finished and open soon. Coffee? Yes! Asian? Yes! Both? Why not?We tried many kinds of bao buns, multiple huge bowls and even the fries! Everything was new, creative, amazing and never before seen or tasted!Life is good when creative folks collaborate to make something new and great!

Overall good. I ordered the Hong Kong noodles with pepper steak. Portion size was good and good balance of noodles and steak. For $20, not sure I would order again. For a $20 bowl, I would expect the noodles to be homemade and organic steak. Their other menu items look good.

Absolutely loved this place ! Flavor profile was amazing, quick service and friendly staff. We tried the hongkong noodles with pepper steak, char sui fried rice and dan dan dumplings and I recommend trying all of them.Will definitely come back!

HIGHLY, HIGHLY RECOMMEND! The owners are super friendly, nice, and welcoming! Every food you order is made with love! The homemade tea with lemon is so refreshing for the Florida summer! My favorite is the Hong Kong Fried Noodles! Whether you order with chicken curry or black pepper steak, it's DELICIOIUS! You can save it overnight, the next day, it's still good!My favorite buns is ube and golden lava! The bun is so soft and the filling combine with the bun is perfect! You can't get tired of eating them because it's so delicious! My favorite dessert is Jasmine honey jelly! It's super refreshing and fruity for the Florida heat! The grapes with the Jasmine is such a perfect combination! Right now, they only doing take outs, but the restaurant is beautifully done! It's a MUST try!

Was so excited to try this new place, I ordered online, drove a mile to get it and only waited a couple minutes before it was ready. The crab Rangoon egg rolls were a must order, I now feel like all rangoons should come in an egg roll shape and would highly suggest, the sauce it comes with was so good. The salad was great as well, fresh, flavorful, and juicy satay chicken. Great for takeout, not really a place to eat in, there's not much room for adding tables or anything either so it doesn't have a coffee shop type feel but the food is great takeout

Go here if you are looking for a magical dining experience! The flavors incorporated into the dishes are unreal. The food is fresh, the desserts and coffee are top notch and you really can't go wrong with anything you pick. The multiple vegan options are absolutely delicious. The music and aesthetic I love. The service is wonderful.

This place is killer!!!! We ordered a noodle dish, bao buns, dumplings and wings. Everything was amazing. They only have a couple tables currently as they build out a larger restaurant space. Everyone was super friendly and service was good. Can't wait to come by again and try some other dishes.
