As other have stated, the new owner is making changes. The menu options are not as plentiful and the portion sizes have gotten a bit smaller. Talking with other patrons and they share the same thoughts. I believe they will still be offering their daily specials which were favors of most patrons. I'd like to talk to the owner to see if he has any idea on why Reececliff's is the longest running diner in Lakeland, and it 's not because of revamping the menu to try for an upscale restaurant. We will continue to to go for the breakfast, the Reuben and the Thursday meatloaf and turkey and dressing as long as these items are on the menu. I can predict that if there new owner doesn't start listening to his staff and the loyal customers that he will either sell or shutdown Reececliff's before the year is out. Hope I'm wrong but trying to change an established landmark diner and male it something it isn't is foolish.

This place is a solid "meh" out of 10. Nothing here screams "you gotta try this!" The pies taste like they cracked open a can of pie filling and dumped it into a crust that might be homemade... or might just be from the freezer aisle, who knows?I had a turkey sandwich that was about as exciting as a beige wall. My wife tried the fried chicken and wasn't impressed--but she's pretty picky, so take that with a grain of salt.I'm not a local, and I'm definitely not making any special stops here on my next drive-by. I'd rather take my chances with something else.

What an incredible dining experience! We had excellent service and fantastic food. We read about this restaurant in ONLY IN YOUR STATE in an email I got. We both wanted to come here and try it months ago, but it's over an hour drive from Palm Harbor. But today it was on the way home after a long day at the theme parks in Orlando. Jerry was incredible. He took our orders, and our food came out quickly. We started with a great fresh salad each: hard boiled egg slice, cucumbers, bacon bits, lettuce, tomatoes, and cheese. Husband raved about ranch dressing. He asked if he could buy it, but they don't sell it. I had the honey mustard - it was good too. Next came our entrees- country fried steaks with white gravy. Breading on country fried steak was delicious! It was light and didn't upset my stomach (sensitive to fried foods). This was the Wednesday special, so we got 3 sides instead of two for the same price as Senior Special. In addition to a salad, Husband got apple sauce & mashed potatoes. I got the potatoes, too, and fresh fruit. I can't stomach cantaloupe which came with the fresh fruit. Instead of a smaller portion, Jerry got me more grapes with the pineapple, blueberries and strawberries. We both got a corn muffin. Everything was so very good. For dessert Husband got the coconut cream pie to go. He & I were so full! He'll enjoy it later. It looks delicious. He might even give me a bite! We have to come back again every time we're in the area, or in the way home from Orlando.

My wife and I stopped in for dinner this evening and everything was great. We were quickly seated and our drink order filled. I had the open faced roast beef with a side of applesauce while my wife had the daily special of beef tips with a side of green beans and congealed gelatin (fruity Jello but saying congealed is more fun!) . The roast beef was well seasoned and sat on top of a slice of bread and covered in brown gravy with a scoop of real mashed potatoes as an automatic side. Just a little salt and pepper and I quickly became a member of the Clean Plate Club. The special was a bowl of mashed potatoes with beef tips and carrot slices covered in gravy -- think pot roast in a bowl. Add two sodas and the bill was very fair at $37 + tip.

After 10 years, time to update my review.I lived in Lakeland for several years in the early 70'sThis was known as a great restaurant then and it has remained all these many years.I had the patty melt with a side of okra and it was oh so good!.Stacy has everything under control. She's like the Air Traffic Controller keeping everything going.I highly recommend this place but get there early, it get's busy in the evening and so many locals.Plenty of free parking....most nights.

The food was very good except for the vegetable platter. The Ruben sandwich was excellent. The hamburger and club sandwich are also excellent. The side salad for additional $.99 was very good. The coffee was not good.We were disappointed with the service. We had to wait awhile and ask for service to get waited on. The server apologized, he had a lot of tables. I would definitely go back.

Granted this place is downtown and doesn't have all the glitz and glamour of the newer franchises but really don't understand how this local restaurant isn't packed all the time. Don't get me wrong it does get busy but I've never had more then a 10-15 minute wait. The food is good, service is great, and prices are cheap! I really like how they have all the old pictures showing the building over the years. It's kind of cool seeing that you're sitting in the same place that someone used to ride up to one a horse for breakfast!

My opinion of this place has drastically changed. The restaurant is once again under new ownership and things have taken a turn for the worse. I can understand prices going up as everything is with the economy, but at the same time the portions have shrunken to about half of what they were. The main entrée is much smaller and surrounded by sides that actually are bigger than the main item. The menu is now a one page two sided card with many of the old items gone. The service is slower and the new computerized order taking, seems to confuse and frustrate the servers. We've been visiting Reececliff for many years, but I'm afraid their day has passed. We won't be back.
