Pulpo Kitchen + Lounge

Ambiance 5/5 Drinks 5/5 Food 5/5 Everything we ordered was delicious! Nothing disappointed me. This is one of those places you want to branch out and try new things. The server gave excellent recommendations, and was always circling around to make sure we had everything we needed. This place just opened and is a perfect new addition to Saint Petersburg!

We walked over to Pulpo last week to try out the new restaurant in our neighborhood. It was a weekday night, so it wasn't too busy. We were greeted when we walked in and took a table outside, right by the door. We sat there for 10 minutes before anyone addressed us. Our server was pleasant, but she wasn't there when needed. We order a few apps and a glass of wine. We went with the skewers and lamb chops app. The wine took a while to arrive and the food came out right after. The skewers were unique. They were more like toothpicks of meat, just a few ounces maybe. One piece of chicken and two pieces of short rib that were mostly bone. The sauces were the highlight. The lamb chop app looked interesting, but when we dug into it, the lamb was not seasoned at all, no salt. There was some tasty sauce on the plate, but it was under the salad and chops which was hard to see while sitting outside on the dimmly lit sidewalk. The chops were grilled to perfection and the pistachio butter complimented them well once we found it. While waiting, we decided to try the fried blue cheese salad. It was quite pleasant and the dressing it came with worked very well. I ordered another glass of wine before our main meal came out, the duck and chorizo paella. A few minutes later, the paella arrived. It looked amazing. The confit duck leg was super flavorful and complimented the chorizo and rice well. It was our favorite dish. About half way through our main dish, the second glass of wine arrived. This was over 10 minutes after it was ordered. The bar just seemed to be dragging even though it wasn't too busy. Overall, we had mixed feelings on our first visit. The skewers were a miss for us, the lamb was decent once you found the sauce, salad was good, and paella was very tasty. Service was friendly, but getting our drinks in a timely manner and cashing out took too long. I am sure they will work out the kinks over the coming months and we hopefully will try them again in the future.

The food was delicious. They set us on time for our reservation. The hostess was kind Chef Jason was nice and came to greet us! The octopus was terrific, the pork belly was great, the branzino was perfectly cooked and filleted, and we had the short rib (Vieja ropa (I think) and some other food and cocktails and It was all great. That have oitdoor and indoor seating. I blow can't wait to go back

Been here twice.Service the first time was really slow to get to us but once waiter finally started it was good.The 2nd time it was on point and waitress was really knowledgeable5 pork belly absolutely delicious 5 ropa vieja awesome5 the Gulf shrimp5 the duck empanadas to die for

Pulpo has quickly become my favorite restaurant in Saint Pete, and for good reason. The addition of Latin cuisine to the neighborhood is a refreshing change, and Pulpo does it exceptionally well. I've worked my way through nearly half the menu, and every dish has been phenomenal. The ceviche is outstanding, the empanadas are probably my favorite, and the Ropa Vieja with fried plantains is absolutely delicious.The cocktails are just as impressive--both in flavor and presentation. The staff is friendly, attentive, and always ensures a great experience. Pulpo is the perfect spot to bring out-of-town friends when I want to show off some of the best food Saint Pete has to offer. Highly recommend!

Great new addition. I love the look of the restaurant, and the outside bar is nice option when weather is nice. We sat at the bar,great service,creative cocktails ans delicious wine. We had light snacks, yucca with a dipping suce and warm olive melody. Both good. We saw some great looking dishes go by so we will be back to try more items.

Had the opportunity to check this new Peruvian-inspired spot out just a couple of nights after their grand opening. The owners of Pulpo also own 2 of my favorite local restaurants -- Brick+Mortar and Seaworthy, so I was excited to try their latest venture!The interior was exquisitely designed, with an appropriately large bar area. Noise level allowed for conversation at the bar. The craft cocktails were the shining stars! The White Dove cocktail was exceptional, as was the Magonada (if you don't mind a drink that's a bit on the sweeter side). We tried the smoked mussels toast, which was too smokey so it overpowered the flavor profile and I was not expecting it to be a cold dish. The mixed seared skewers came with chicken and beef tongue...which I had never tried before -- it was an interesting texture and nice to have a more adventurous ingredient available on a local menu. The duck confit as part of the paella dish was perfectly prepared. Overall, the paella was exceedingly greasy, as was the topping on the skewers. The paella rice was fried crispy (different than a traditional paella), which is likely what caused the greasy texture. All food came out at a good pace, with attentive well-trained staff. Will go back to try their ceviche and octopus dishes next.

Omg! So delicious! Try the mangoneada drink, it's perfect! And the Peruvian ceviche, yum! Can't wait to come back to have it again. And the papas bravas, the best in town!

Live music but I could hear my company talking... terrific ambience! Excellent service from Andrea. The smoked mussels were a mouthful of perfection, I am going to crave these forever. The Lavanda cocktail was frothy, smooth and delicious. I will definitely be back!

Service was great and the atmosphere was chill but swanky as well!Sat outside and was able to people watch while eating our tasty lunch.The ceviche was an amazing surprise of savory and spicy along with some of the great tapas options.Definitely would recommend!
