Authentic, high quality Italian products and a super friendly owner (Sal) who really knows the food he's selling, and he likes to inform his customers about the ingredients, origins, and history of everything in his store.

What an amazing find this place is! I cannot believe I have been driving past this wonderful gem for years. I have now been twice in the last week. The first thing you need to know is that you can park right behind the building. Pull on the street just west of the building. It would be extremely difficult to park in front and have to back out onto Gulf to Bay / 60. The owner Sal is a gem himself. He has vast food knowledge and treats every customer like a friend or family member. He gave me his card and said to call him if I need something outside of hours or need him to stay late. Wow. He takes customer service to an entirely different level. He also made recommendations and did not lead me astray. This is a market that has REAL authentic Italian goods. They also make some incredible things in house. I have tried a Stromboli and a Marscapone dessert. They were both incredible. The Stromboli that I received was two pounds. It is almost all meat! It is thick and enough for a few meals. If you time it well, you may be able to get one fresh from the oven. Mine was in the refrigerated case as I arrived late one Friday night. I sliced it and heated it as Sal instructed. I was planning on freezing the rest for another week. It was so good, that I immediately jumped up and removed it from the freezer and put it back into the fridge for the next day. I purchased some homemade marinara to go with it. It doesn't have any added sugar (which made me happy) and was phenomenal too. The dessert I tried was one of the best things I have ever tasted. I had a rough day and told Sal that I wanted something rich and satisfying. It was just that. It was served chilled in a real glass (that is perfect for dipping the Stromboli into sauce after it is empty!). It had layers and little beautiful curls of chocolate on top. My description does not do it justice. I posted a picture. Go buy one! The second trip I purchased some things for my Brother for his Birthday including REAL pasta, homemade meat sauce, and a Cheesecake imported from New York (that Sal claims is the best... my Brother agreed). I LOVE this place and will visit often.

Sal the owner was very nice but they don't have much in the store other than olive oil and packaged pasta. I was hoping to get or order some great prepared food that I kept reading about in the reviews for a party but there was nothing. The owner said they stopped having any prepared food because he had no employees. Sad.

Sal makes this place. It's as authentic of a deli experience as I think you can get anywhere in the world. This is a place where you go to learn about the food and what's behind some of the magic. We travel from Orlando to Sal's spot a few times a year and if we're ever in the area it is a must-visit. The Olive Oil that they have there (don't worry he'll tell you about it) is off the charts. We buy it as gifts for people. I mean seriously we're not those kind of people and here we are buying Olive Oil for our family members. It's that good. Sal always shows patience and professionalism as he gently encourages you to take a sample of what he's working on in the back or (in our most recent visit) grab a few quarts of home-made sauce. It was still warm to us when he put it in our to-go packages.Love this place, Sal, and everything it's about. Very fair prices and some seriously authentic and sometimes exotic items. Worth the drive every time.

I really miss going to Italy. I worked insanely hard seven days a week for a few decades to obtain the privilege and I'm here to say, it was worth it. Now, I'm on hiatus and I was feeling blue about it. Time for a solution! What is so great about Italy? It's the history, the culture, the shops and most of all, the people and the well-deserved pride in everything local, everything fresh and everything Italian. I miss the places that serve a few items, made better than anywhere on the planet, because it truly is better due to practicing and perfecting for a few thousand years. It could be espresso. It could be pizza. It could be panini. It could be the local pasta recipe with local wine. It almost doesn't matter because Italy offers the best of the best. My solution was to visit Plateroti Italian Gourmet and empower Sal to fill my basket with imported specialties...* A huge bottle of Sardinian unfiltered olive oil? Check! * Some canned San Marzano plum tomatoes from the slope of Vesuvius? Check!* Prosciutto de Parma? Check!* Capers? Check!* Anchovies? Check!* Salami? Check!* Fresh baked Italian bread! Check! This weekend, once I had a few delicious bites and closed my eyes, I felt like I was back in Italy. Thanks Sal!

I've been going to see Sal for more than 10 years. I live about an hour away now but well worth the trip. Great service and the best quality of food. He never disappoints.

A touch of Mazarro's meets Clearwater!!I would like to thank this wonderful little Italian shop for the most criminally satisfying = Eggplant Parmesan = I have ever had as an Italian. After cutting it in fourths; a 5th piece of hot delicious mozzarella and flavor rolls into its unintended place. The sensation of trying this rare delight is beyond my words. However, I would urge anyone in the neighborhood to stop by and try some of the beautiful meats, aged balsamic, prepped dinners (especially), and countless other Italian delights!!

Went soon after we moved here. Was so hopeful we found our place. But oh hell no.I have been in the pasta business for over 40 yrs. Trying to talk to this man was so ridiculous. And yes he's very very "odd". Would never go back or recommend this place. Oh and plaster was falling from the ceiling on to product. Horrible experience.

I met Salvatore upon entering his market and was surprised by the many items (some very hard to find) in his market. We talked food as I love to cook and it turns out he has two different size bucatinis and I was happy with that. I bought some home made seafood salad and sun dried tomatoes he also made.Great customer service and very friendly.
