Pirates Pub & Grub

The food came out quickly and was tasty. The service was casual while maintaining attentiveness and efficiency. The drink was tasty too! I enjoyed a grouper fish fillet and some veggies. A bourbon and coke. My dad and nephew liked the place too after we hit a nearby creamery which was also top flight. The view of the day or evening cruise boats themed in pirate or shark. Is fun. People watching is good from here. I saw a family w 8-10 yo. They seemed to be enjoying too!

My friend and I were looking for lunch and I saw this listed with good reviews so we decided to try it - we were glad we did! It's the kind of place you walk into and never run out of things to look at. There's so much fun pirate decor that has clearly been cultivated over time. It's just a fun place to be.Ended up ordering the grouper sandwich grilled - garlic style. I didn't really taste garlic & it was a little bland so I got their boom boom sauce and it was PERFECT for this. It added so much flavor and just the right amount of spice. My friend got shrimp tacos (also with the boom boom sauce) and they looked incredible, she loved them. The fries were crispy & solidly good. Would've loved to sit outside and people watch on the boardwalk but it was drizzling on and off so we opted for inside - it's fairly covered outside but if a real Florida storm came through you'd for sure get wet.

Always friendly staff & great drinks! If you are feeling bold try the gator bites. A great place to check out at Johns Pass!

Early dinner so they weren't too busy. Sat at the bar and got to chit chat with the bartender. All of the staff seemed personable. We started with a couple drinks and gator bites. Let me tell you, they were delicious. Fried perfectly. My husband loved his burger and it was cooked perfectly. Onion rings were amazing with a nice crispy batter. I got my crab cake fix and it was unlike any I've ever had. It was huge and meaty with a nice spicy sauce on top. Also really enjoyed the cucumber and tomato salad. Potato salad was just okay to me. Could have used little seasoning.

I did not have high expectations, as Pirates Pub & Grub is (a) located in a highly trafficked tourist spot and (b) has the word "Grub" in the name. But, we had an absolutely wonderful evening there!We had a few appetizers, including the mussels. Then we had lots of grouper. The seafood was fresh and well prepared. In other words, delicious! All of it, wonderful!We also started with a variety of tropical cocktails, all of which were very tasty and reasonably strong. There are plenty of places in the general area (any tourist spot, really) that will serve what I call "alcohol scented" cocktails. Not the Pirates P&G. Everything we had was a true and tasty cocktail - including the bucket of booze my (adult) son ordered (photo below).Service was also excellent. We had two servers, whose names I wish I had for this review. They were both superb - not only providing great service, but willing to chat a bit and take a bunch of photos of us (and with us). They were awesome!We sat outside, so we missed the atmophere inside. After looking at some of the other review pics (after our visit), I wish I'd gone inside at least to check it out and maybe watch their bartender toss some bottles about. Seating outside is very limited, but we were lucky enough to get a table and enjoy beautiful views of the water and the sky during sunset (facing east, but it was still beautiful).This is one of a few places I wouldn't miss if I make it back to the area! Highly recommended!

Had an amazing dinner at pirates pub and grub with a gator po boy, Swiss & mushroom burger, and fried calamari! ! We love it here it is always a must when we're in St Pete's The service was awesome and they are very nice and the ambiance is really cool! Total pirate vibes!

Great little spot for lunch or dinner inside or outside seating great service, friendly and quick. We were there recently for the Madeira Beach burger week and the burger was great! The "Captain" burger

Great chef/server/everyone. Do they own the place? I DONT KNOW! I asked if I should get the crab cakes or fish and chips. She said fish and chips. I didn't get chips. but damn that fish was awesome. Look at it! and the tartar had such a unique flavor to get it extra umph. The slaw was also great and mac salad was, um, mac salad. If I lived here I go here for lunch weekly. So, go!

Best rum runners in the beach area! Love the gator bites. Staff is always super friendly. Fun spot to chill and have a drink at John's Pass.

It was a Tuesday night and they were packed. They don't take reservations and it's first come, first served basis. We sat outside and it was about 15 minutes before we could find seatings. The server was very friendly and told us of the long wait for the food. We had high hopes based on their Yelp reviews. However, we were left unsatisfied and disappointed once the food arrived.We were told a 45-minutes wait, but it took a lot longer than that. The lobster roll didn't look appetizing at all. It was a bit bland and for $24.95, it was overpriced! The clams steamer was decent. The grilled salmon was alright, but the fries were soggy. The kids chicken tenders were so thin and dried. Sadly, it was our first and last time as we won't be coming back. The 2-star review is for our server's friendliness and attentive. The food, not so great.
