Hot and sour soup.

New China restaurant is located in a strip store plaza on S Suncoast Blvd in Homosassa. It's been there quite awhile now but we haven't tried their food since they changed owners because we're big fans of Mr Wangs located just a hop, skip and a jump away. However I thought it was time to give it a try. The inside is very small with a couple of tables so food is mostly take out. We ordered from their lunch special section. Most of our Chinese restaurants have lunch specials that offer an entree, fried rice and choice of a small container of soup for a reasonable price. We had an older take out menu that I selected our food from for pick up since my hubby was in the area running errands. I ordered their Garlic Shrimp which the menu said was spicy, white rice instead of fried and hot and sour soup. The menu said it also came with two Crab Rangoon. My hubby ordered the General Tso Chicken with fried rice and an order of Crab Rangoon since they no longer offer the Crab Rangoon with the lunch special. My Garlic Shrimp was good but it did have a lot more vegetables than shrimp. I had only four shrimp in my meal with onions, mushrooms, broccoli, water chestnuts and bamboo shoots all in a brown sauce that was mild on the heat scale. White rice was plentiful. I did add soy sauce and hot chili oil to enhance the flavor. Their hot and sour soup could be improved. It did indeed have a decent tasting broth but there were way too many bamboo shoots and not enough Tofu. It could have used a little more egg also. They did however have two pieces of black fungus. I don't see this too often in hot and sour soups offered in our county. Crab Rangoon pouches were small, they had less than a tablespoon of cream cheese mixture with no visible signs of crabmeat to be found. They were perfectly fried and had a nice crunchy exterior. Unfortunately my hubby was not happy at all with his meal. He thought his fried rice had a "funny" taste to it and believe me when I say he eats a lot of fried rice at various restaurants- so he knows what he likes in a fried rice dish. He said their General Tso Chicken was just alright and didn't finish it all but he did eat all of his Crab Rangoon. We both felt that the quality of food was not worth the price that we paid, so because of this we probably won't order from here again. Mr Wangs remains on the top of our list.!

Mostly get take out. The wings are crispy and fresh. The beef low mien is pretty good and I like the yang chow rice.

The absolute worst steamed dumplings I have ever had. I ate one and threw the rest in garbage. It was very mushy ingredients inside . I will never order from there again.

Food was old and stale, obviously reheated. Reviews from others online were mixed, some saying food was old, some saying it was great. Maybe it depends on when you order. We wanted take out after a long weekend and ordered it Sunday evening. I'm sure it was leftovers. Old Sesame Chicken, old egg rolls, old dumplings. Rice was awful. Everything tasted stale. Cannot even eat it. Awful.
