Mom's Place

Stopped by Mom's Place this morning on the way to an appointment. Hubby and I had never been here nor noticed the diner tucked away on Dale Mabry. We were greeted by the staff as soon as we walked in. Every one was very friendly. The diner was just like those diners of day old, with the booths to sit in, we loved it. Place had a good crowd of people, you know like when you walk into a place and you know you must have stumbled across something good. I enjoyed my biscuits and gravy breakfast with bacon and scrambled eggs. Hubby had the pancakes, eggs and sausage. We both enjoyed our breakfast. Definitely a must try if your every in the area. A good variety of items on the menu.

This place is wonderful. The food and staff were great. I had the "Kitchen Sink" omelet with grits and white toast. Was GREAT!!!! Staff was great and very attentive.

Overall, for a diner experience, this was pretty positive. Apparently, they are short in the kitchen and the owner was in there doing cooking. We had to send our eggs back three times to get them properly cooked. Aside from that, everybody was friendly, the food was decent, diner, quality, And the vibes in the place nice. I'd return.

Great place for breakfast!Dale Mabry traffic in the AM had me frustrated on my drive in to work but realizing I could detour here for grits made my day!

Just like a north east diner only reason I didn't give 5 stars is for the prices. There are some good deals but tax you on others. 4 dollars for a cup of oj is criminal unless it's freshed squeezed, which this is not the whole gallon probably cost 4$. Besides that and lipstick on my coffee mug the place was great.

I have been visiting this diner since 2009 and try to visit as often as possible whenever I am in the area. Great food, excellent service and reasonable prices. Comfy seating area. The waitress was kind enough to keep my coffee cup topped off while I did some work on my laptop after finishing my breakfast.

This is such a throwback to the diners we are used to being from NJ. Accidentally found this place after a visit to Moffitt Hospital. The food is delicious and true Greek style diner. Even the decor. The place is only open until 3pm and use to be cash only but now takes credit cards too. Small diner with only booths available that can only seat 4 people. The omelettes, pancakes, salads are all excellent. Plus there are daily specials too. Very busy with many locals and lines waiting. However the turnover time is pretty good. The wait staff is very nice and accommodating too. Great food, good value. Parking can be difficult so be patient. Something you might find on DD&D tv show.

Decided to go here for lunch. Figured it's been here a long time, it must be good. Other than Christine, our waitress who was very friendly and attentive, this was hands down one of the worse places to eat. Sweet tea was bland. Husband ordered a half pound bbq burger that came out small. Fryer broke so instead of fries he got the potato salad which had gone bad. I ordered 2 OM eggs, biscuits and gravy, grits and 2 pancakes. I specifically asked if it was sausage gravy and was told it was. Gravy was white, no sausage taste, biscuits were dry. Grits were definitely not cooked the southern way, very bland.The owner, Olivia came over and agreed the potato salad had gone bad, but I was wrong about the grits. That batch was fresh, she said. Defensive and argumentative. The only thing that was good were the pancakes..until I found a hair in them. Olivia only charged us for my husband's food. Then added "all of our customers love our food, it must be you...Just kidding mama". She offered to give me free soup. I politely declined being i was already disgusted. She needs to stay in her office and not talk to people. We left a big tip for Christine, but we definitely will never go back.

A classic diner with great service. Food is priced well and portions are good.My bacon + American cheese omelette was awesome.

Been coming to Mom's for years. Seems since the business changed ownership, the food has gone down hill. Plus the 2 guys in the food prep area was not wearing gloves which is a total turnoff for me. This will probably be my last visit here, sorry to say.
