This place is a great find in the world of roadside bbq trucks! I got the rib dinner with mac and cheese and baked beans! All of it was legit , and the sides are more than just generically done , you can tell they put a little magic into what they do there and thats great to see . also u get all that and a drink for 17$ . Furthermore the dude is totally honest , I handed him 5$ too much and he was quick to point it out! Go support them!

We had family visiting us and decided to try Big Mel's for feeding our crowd. I called morning of and ask if they had enough pulled pork. Big Mel himself answered and told me he would check and call back. He called me back shortly and told me what he had and asked when I would need it. He had it ready for us. When I pulled up to the trailer with the smoker going full steam, I knew I had made a solid choice. Big Mel came out to greet us and I felt like I could immediately trust this man. I was blown away by the value and service we received. I felt like family. He wouldn't even let me tip him and before we pulled out he stopped me to give me more food. I'm glad he did cause that BBQ chicken was the best I've ever had. We got about 10 lbs of pulled pork and he threw in sauce to go with it. Will definitely go back and would recommend others to try them out if you want BBQ in the Tampa area. Just fyi there is no seating so this is not a fine dining excursion. Get take out or buy a large amount to bring back for a gathering. Or just eat in your car.

Decided to try a new BBQ spot and I'm glad I did!The food was cooked well and had a great flavor. I also liked the offering, I had the ribs, sausage and turkey, and it was the turkey that was the biggest selling point for me, not a lot of places has this as a regular item.The only thing I will need to ask for differently, don't chop the turkey leg. I'm ok that the ribs and sausage were chopped but chopping the turkey legs meant you had to be careful and pick the chopped bones out before eating. But yes, I will be back and this may be one of my new favorite.

Hard to find, but worth having! Excellent food truck barbecue with super sides. Mel's a great guy and we wish him well. We will be back!

It is 4.5 stars. Not yet 5 stars. Mel has a good BBQ and they they located at good spot not too far from the I-275. A lot people here for the ribs and turkey leg. The selection is not much but it does enough for the menu. The main reason they are good rating is they are generous on the meat quantity. The meat selections are Rib, chicken, thin end, turkey leg, brisket, sausage and pull pork. We got the three meat combo. Although their price is the most expensive in along the I-275, but they make up the quantity of the meat. I got the brisket, sausage and rib. I think their rib is the best. I also like their brisket with good marinated BBQ sauce. I saw some one order the turkey leg sandwich, it was looking good. They will chop up the rib to bite size for easy handling. Overall my experience with them is great. Sometimes you need to wait for the meat because it is still in the smoker.

Big mel's bbq is the absolute best bbq in the Tampa Bay area hands down there is no one better! The ribs are seasoned just right and very tender, and the bbq sauce is delicious hot or mild or mustard bbq. This bbq is a must try, I promise you won't be disappointed

This is a really great BBQ spot. Mel is open on Wednesday - Saturday. Come earlier on Saturdays because he runs out !

Mel's place instant classic in my book. My first Bbq joint in the Tampa area that has a real character, personality and swagg (both Mel and the food that is) The sauce is great. Make sure to get extra!

Hands down the best smoked meats in town. Falling off the bone, delicious. Once you try it, you'll never go back to your old BBQ place!!
