Other reviews mentally prepared me for service being slow but my g-d...A group of 6 of us went on Monday (half price menu except for drinks and desserts). It wasn't crowded. The waitress explained that on half-price night, they ask patrons to order everything at once 'so the kitchen can maintain the flow". That made sense. We ordered everything to include 5 appetizers and bread since they do not provide complimentary bread and oil. Now we wait.And wait.And wait. Tables beside us who came in after us got their appetizers. Some of my friends also worked in restaurants said clearly our waitress forgot to put our orders in. And wait.One of my friends who was NOT mentally prepared for this said "Im HANGRY! I'm about to walk into the kitchen and start throwing elbows while I eat whatever is on the line."And wait.Over an hour later, our entrees come out. At this point, I cancelled my salad because I DID want that before my entree. Everyone was ravenous and loved their meals. THe gnocci in vodka sauce was a hit and my carbonara with pancetta was quite good too. But where is the rest of the food? And the bread that we ordered? We are left with yummy sauce on our plates and no bread. The appetizers never came and our server was MIA so as we were getting ready to leave, we walked up to the manager and had all the appetizers taken off the bill while asking for the check. If you're going to leave hungry guests waiting that long, the least you can do is give them bread to gnosh on. The food was good (at least that which made it to our table) so for that reason, I'd be willing to eat here again but I can't do it unless I have a solid 2 hours to spare.

Favorite Monday Night dinner spot however you have to get there early or your wait time could be long as it is not a call in reservation night because of the Monday 1/2 off menu deal. I have noticed that the staff has changed drastically which could be a good thing as a few of the servers in the past were very dismissive during the rush. The food has always been on point but I noticed recently it lacked consistency from on plate to the next. We were also told this last time that all our food has to be ordered up front to get it into the kitchen not sure if it was because we were seated so late (after 7:30) or a new policy. I usually order the Matteo Chopped Salad, Pink Ravioli (which I noticed is priced as an entree now), calamari, and either the pollo Marsala or frutti di mare. I noticed they have condensed the menu also.The lighting near the bar is horrible.. I get setting an ambiance but we literally could not see our food it was so dark in that area. I will be returning but definitely at my usual earlier time maybe the service and seating will be better.

Came with friends for lunch/dinner before pride. Really enjoyable atmosphere, with low lights and personalize service. I got a 'Tutto Bene Paloma' and a lasagne, and would say that the cocktails were more meant to hit you quickly than to enjoy them. Also the lasagne was too small for the price, but was definitely good. Enjoy my time and would try it again if I'm in the area for a quick pre party meal.

Matteo's is a quaint family owned Italian restaurant. Located in fabulous Grand Central on a busy block where you can sit outside and people watch or inside where it's cozy. We had a table if 5 celebrating a birthday had started off with house Cab which was splendid. We each ordered something different including margarita pizza, CACIO E PEPE and SALSICCIA and I had Eggplant parm. We had two baskets of Focaccia which was to die for and several had dessert, our server Guiermo was excellent. Definitely a great meal!

Wow - extremely surprised and impressed with this spot! We were looking for a low key date night spot on Saturday and stumbled upon this restaurant. We were able to get a reservation for two around 6 pm. The inside is a combination of trendy but also classy and casual. When we sat down, the waiter let us know that they were known for their pizza so naturally; we had one for our appetizer. We had the spicy salami and jalapeno pizza and it was probably one of the best pizzas I have had. The dough was very light, the ingredients were fresh, and the sauce was flavorful. For entree, we split the shrimp gnocchi and once again; were in love with it! The sauce was a bit spicy and the gnocchi were delicious.Highly recommend.

I have been to Matteo several times and love the Pizza and the Happy Hour!I recommend making a reservation or getting there when they open. The brick oven pizza is truly special and each time I have had, cooked perfectly.I did do on a very busy Sunday evening and service was too slow, we were a large group and it was unacceptable. But, the food was good. I love pizza!

My first time trying this spot was on "Monday Madness" half price food day. It was amazing. One of the best ricotta stuffed ravioli with tomato cream sauce that I've had. 10/10All dinner ls are served with a fresh bread basket with dipping sauce. My friends got the fried cheese balls. /10And charcuterie board 3 cheeses, 3 meats, 2 types of olives. Highly recommend 10/10. They don't take reservations. So get there early if you plan on going Monday night ir expect a wait. It's well worth they wait. My group waited at the bar and tried some of their wines. They have a great selection of wine.

We were just walking around the area and stumble upon this restaurant so we just give it a try. We sat outside and we ordered 3 dishes. Beets salad, cozze tarantina or mussels with garlic and marinara sauce and the forracina bread, it has mozerella cheese and garlic. I shared this with another friend and it was the best meal ever. Everything was so delicious! The service was amazing, our server made sure we have everything we need and constantly checking up on us. I will surely come back to this place when we visit st. pete again.

This place is always so full and I've wanted to try here for months now. Well, I finally had an opportunity to try it and it did not disappoint. I ordered the shrimp diavolo. With just the right amount of spice the tomato based sauce was delicious. I hate I did not try the pizza or anything else, but dining alone prevents multiple options. I will be back.
