Marquise Dunedin

If you want a taste of french cuisine without going farther than Dunedin this place is perfect for breakfast and lunch. Such a lovely café owned by a husband and wife chef team. We are greeted with a warm welcome even though it was close to closing time by our server, Paula. She explained that everything was made all in house by the chef. From the buttery croissants, to the shirred seafood eggs & individual quiche, everything tasted as if we were in France and that is a huge culinary compliment. Thank you so much for a fantastic lunch! We will definitely be back.

This place is amazing, second time their food is fantastic, we used to come here years ago when I was a different place and kinda forgot about it and discovered it recently as a new restaurant with a French twist, the chef knows what he's doing, and the staff is pleasantly amusing, especially Paula, we have now found a new favorite place and will tell all our family and friends, thank you guys for what you do

Went in for Father's Day breakfast. The cappuccino was nice, quiche was yummy, the croissant was over toasted. I didn't think anything was outstanding except the quiche.The staff were friendly, a bit chatty, and Chef was kind enough to come out for a visit. While it was nice for what it was, sadly I don't think we'll be back.

What a great breakfast! I wanted a change from the tasty but usual breakfast offerings in the area. Ordered the seafood shirred eggs (baked in a small round casserole dish) made with lobster, shrimp, pollock, and crab (real, not imitation!). They also had it as regular shirred eggs but if you like seafood in your breakfast you'll be very happy. It's served with a small baguette and I ate half as is and half in the baguette as a sandwich of sorts. Wonderful both ways. Served with a side salad with a nice dressing. Coffee was good but I like it really hot and the mugs are thick enough to steal the heat after adding two half and halfs so I had it microwaved a couple of times. The chef came out to check how things were and I told him how good it was and how much I enjoyed it. The server was very friendly and at the end of the meal didn't charge me for the coffee although I would have been happy to pay. Definitely a nice change from the usual in this French cafe, the Marquis in Dunedin.

Excellent service from a small local cafe. The kids loved their waffles, French toast and croissants. Omelettes were large and came with crispy hash browns. Toast was perfectly toasted. Latte was hot and the kids loved their chocolate milks!

I have some mixed feedback regarding our late breakfast here.1) The French toast, pancakes, waffles were top notch. I tasted all of them and I wanted more.2) The omelets at the table were all overcooked. The vegetables in them were a bit too raw also.3) The croissants and baguettes were star of the show.

I absolutely love this place! Such a hidden gem. I came here with my parents in November for breakfast after a neighbor recommended it to us and I've been dreaming about the shirred eggs ever since. Finally made it back yesterday with a friend and again got the shirred eggs, a chococinno, and a chocolate croissant. Everything was so yummy and the chef/owner is sure to check on you and ensure your experience is a positive one. I'll definitely be back!

This is a darling little French restaurant. I had Croque monsieur with the most delicious cheesy sauce, and the salad was lovely. Our server was hysterical. Just funny! I love this place. I wish it was a little bit closer to my home.

I had the quiche Lorraine and my friend had the shirred eggs. Delicious! Very fresh. I look forward to going back.

Excellent service and food. Cute very small place. The croissants were amazing. Definitely worth a visit
