Just what I needed! The curry chicken was very tender. The curry was mild and had a really good flavorful taste. I was very happy about the cabbage and peas n rice. As for the oxtails, they were small and perfect. I would definitely recommend this restaurant. I also heard they have great lunch specials.

Marlene's has quickly become one of my favorite restaurants in Lakeland! I order from there weekly. I have yet to find something I don't like. Today, I had the snapper plate, which was absolutely delicious. The portion is HUGE. Whatever sauce the fish is cooked in/topped with us so good, slightly sweet and tomato based I believe. It came with rice and peas and their veggies (which by the way, Marlene's cabbage is the absolute best). It is a whole fish, so be mindful of bones. But they are super easy to remove due to how well the fish is cooked. My children enjoy the brown stew chicken (even my pickiest eater cleans her plate). My oldest daughter loves the curry goat, which I have tried and can tell you is absolutely incredible. If you are looking for some real authentic Jamaican cuisine, give Marlene's a try! You won't be disappointed! It's quite the hidden little gem!

The food is amazing and full of flavor. I had the chicken curry lunch special and I am going keep coming back. I am excited to try the other items on the menu. The food is reasonably priced and the portions are perfect. The restaurant is take out only and a no frills kind of place. The owner was very sweet.
