Trying a local spot in Temple Terrace inspired by their Haitian roots and known for their vibrant culinary oasis in where tropical vibes meet soulful comforts. I stepped inside and was immediately greeted which helped to set the inviting ambiance, along with the soulful music playing in the background to match the lively decor. There is an alternating menu selection for various days of the week and luck would have it that today was Friday for Soul Food. Some food options like rice, yams, macaroni and cheese, and cheese collard greens are a part of the buffet line, and other items such as the catfish, red snapper, and lemon pepper shrimp are prepared fresh to order. Each meal has a choice of dirty rice or seasoned yellow rice and two additional sides. Everything was mouth-watering so I decided on 3 meals - Southern fried catfish with yellow rice, yams, and macaroni and cheese; Honey fried chicken with yellow rice, macaroni and cheese, and smoked turkey collard greens; and lastly the garlic salmon with herbs with dirty rice, macaroni and cheese, and smoked turkey collard greens. I couldn't resist and decided to add a half order of the lemon pepper fried shrimp to my order I enjoyed sipping on their freshly made Caribbean sweet teas and lemonades while waiting on my order and soaking in the good island vibes. I plan to tell my girlfriends so we can visit and try their brunch menu.
