Best shrimp around this area!! It's one of my favorite dive bars by far. The oysters are also spot on!

We recently visited Magnolia oyster Bar. We found the place to be dark, dirty and just plain disgusting. The bartender was quite unfriendly. We ordered a beer and looked over the menu. We decided we would not eat here as it was just plain unappetizing. We paid our check for 2 Busch light bottles of beer. We were shocked at the cost. A one and done for us. Don't get me wrong, we seek out a dive bar but this was just a dirty dusty old place with no dive bar appeal. Stopped next door at Great Chicago Fire pizza and had a couple of cold beers and a great conversation with Heather the bartender. We certainly will travel back for the Great Chicago but bypass the Magnolia.

Fun place. What makes a great dive? First, it should be dark. Second, most of the food should be fried. Third, locals only. Fourth, beer in bottles only, preferably long necks. This place ticks all the boxes. Friendly service. Good prices. On Tuesday, we took advantage of buckets of 25 steamed clams for $16.99. There are specials every night except Sunday when they're closed. I had a grouper sandwich. It was very nice and very large. Fries are good. We will be back soon.

Their Tuesday, Thursday specials are awesome. Service is fast. Food is tasty. As far as the ambiance, it's rustic. It's we're the locals go for seafood.

I just don't get the idea of "dive." How about clean, friendly, ambience, great food, fair price. Dive just translates to dirty to me. If you have a better definition of dive let's hear it.

My uncle and I went to this hole-in-the-wall seafood joint after some local recommendations; We were not disappointed. We enjoyed 12 raw oysters and a couple of beers for appetizers and my were they delicious, and very fresh. For our entree, we had fried grouper sandwiches with fries. We were a little disappointed they didn't have a grilled or blackened option but hey, what can ya do? The sandwich was big and flavorful, the Tartar sauce was delicious and the fries were crispy. The owner came out to bring our food and checked on us frequently. We had a nice conversation she was very sweet. I look forward to visiting her and this gem of a locally-owned restaurant again soon.

Trash food! Oysters suck! How can you call yourself an Oyster bar and not even serve Chargrilled Oysters? Baked Oysters??? Your're almost there, just chargrill them. Service sucks, they don't even have ketchup on the table and all of their entrees come with fries. Now make that make sense. The only reason they get 2 stars is because their fried shrimp is good. This was the worst $115 dollars I ever spent on food.
