La Morenita Restaurant

Decided to stop by for lunch based upon a recommendation. The salsa is not for the week of heart because it will bite back. I think the chips are house made. The tacos and cheese enchiladas were freshly made and worth the wait. It was quite crowded at lunch time with plenty of to go orders so the locals are in the know. And now I know. You will have to speak up to be heard because the atmosphere is family friendly and everyone was enjoying themselves. If you're in Lakeland stop by get a meal and do a lil shopping because they have a butcher shop next door at Mega Mercado and I got some fresh made Chicharrón.

I have shopped inside Mega Mercado and was always curious about the restaurant inside, which is La Morenita Restaurant. Well today was the day and the food is off the chain. I don't give out complaints so easily they have to earn it. I'm from SoCal and just moved here from Texas and texmex food just isn't my thing. That's what you tend to find more so out here. Well this spot is authentic Mexican food. The chips are homemade and good, The salsa is spicy and so addicting, I love a good salsa that makes my nose run. So my son ordered the beef fajitas, for the cost of that plate I thought we were going to have a small amount. He got this hot skillet it was packed full of steak and veggies! It smelled so good! The steak was very flavorful as it should be, I mean it was good quality no fat or gristle. He enjoyed it so much he took half home and this boy can put it down. I ordered the super nachos and added the carne asada and as you can imagine my plate was huge! It was delicious with beans steak cheese avocado and then I threw some of that salsa on top and omg so good. Unfortunately I only ate half and took the rest to go. I ordered hubs a Togo order of the steak fajitas and some green lemonade (agua de limon) it was very good homemade. The rice water aka horchata was also homemade super refreshing. The place isn't fancy but they offer good service, great food and low prices you can't beat it

The best Mexican restaurant in Lakeland and In Bartow. Very authentic. This is the way Mexican food really taste like been to other places disappointment this place is the best. Food service is a little slow, but is worth the wait.

Took 45 minutes to get order.And it was wrong. Don't go here if you're expecting good service or can't take a 2 hr lunch. Food is okay if you have all day and the patience to tell them how to cook.
