Note: This review is simply on the dessert itself as I have not had the pleasure of going to this business myself ! I simply requested something sweet one night after dinner and this was the bakery of choice that my fiancé chose to stop in and grab a sweet treat for me on his way home ! And I'm sure it's a lovely place as I have read in some other reviews but I'm just talking about this one dessert my fiancé got me i just simply was not a fan and I tried my hardest to finish at least half of it ! It was the overall textures for me it was soggy , the whip cream wasn't sweet and it was literally mashed up sponge cake like what the hay it was just not a good combination of things to be mashed up in a cup ! .. great price lol but not good ! 1 out of 10 wouldn't recommend !

All the pastries ($14) plus 2 large Pieces of tres leches cake, one with nuts and the other with strawberriesTres leches and all the pastries to-go which received rave reviews. Also not sweets -Chicharrón base topped with pulled pork, and veggie toppings? This is a thing? I have got to go back and try this!

Very interesting Mexican Bakery. It is tuck away at the strip plaza behind a building. You need to pay attention to find it. This bakery offer many interesting pastries, cake, jello, churros. The price is good. We got tamales there 4 for$5. The tamales is bean base with pork. It is quite good after heating up. It will be cheap lunch if you go with it. I also got some churros and dusted sugar pastry. These items are delicious. The cake is moist and great flavor. I have pound cake and coffee cake both are great. They sell the new year six cake Rosca de Reyes to celebrate the Epiphany. It is ring cake for sale. It is great to have a Taste of the cake. They also has the coconut pastry with cherry on top. Great dessert. Don't forget their refrigerator jello. Please check them out.

La Familia is a nice bakery on Bearss avenue in the USF area. It is in the same plaza as Cali Tacos and the Army Navy store though it is not visible from the road. It is to the left of the laundromat. While the interior space is small, there are 3-4 seats and small tables to sit outside and eat. As you enter, you will notice a large glass case of pastries on the left, on the right is a cooler with soda/drinks and jello desserts. In front is the counter and menu board and other items like cake slices and other baked goods. There is one man running the store named Erasmo. He was very nice and helpful. I am the last person who needs to eat baked goods but I wanted to try some items and since this place is only 2 miles from my place, I thought "Why not?"I bought 1 concha, 1 guava pastry and a Cuban sandwich. Cuban Sandwich - This is solid. Roast park /ham mustard. The bread was ok, not my favorite of all time, but decent. It was about 8 inches. It was only $5. 3.5/5Concha - This is a sweet bread and a Mexican breakfast item from what I've read. It was soft and had a thin layer or powdered sugar and frosting. Very good $1 4/5Guava Pastry - Similar to ones in Cuban ones though rectangular in shape. $1 4/5The two biggest strengths of this place are the hours. The store is open from 7 am - 9 pm everyday which is awesome. The second is the prices.I don't think any places now sell pastries for less than $2 (Granted the store is small and in a somewhat neglected plaza so I guess that helps)Everything in the glass case (various pastries) is only $1. This would be great if you want a quick cheap breakfast of pastries for yourself or maybe a small group. The cake slices were cheap too - $2.50 (compared to $3.50-4 at most places). There are not really big negatives. I wouldnt really stay too long at night in that plaza. Overall: A good place for Conchas and pastries at rock bottom prices with a friendly owner!

My son and I stumbled upon this place when we went to California taco at the front of the Plaza it's also in the same plaza as the oasis market. The owner is a charming man as well as the woman that works there. they greet you with a smile their products are delicious you can call them and request special tamale made up he sells them buy the four pack all of the fresh breads on the table when you first walk in or a must try don't miss any of the pastries on the left side in the showcase take your silver platter and your tongs put them on there bring what you like to the counter .Outside seating is available for you to bring your lunch pastries and coffee it's pretty quiet plaza so don't be surprised there's plenty of parking.

I love small family owned bakeries. Everything at this Mexican spot, which was my assessment based on the decor, is fresh and only $1. Guava and cheese pastries? Si, por favor!!

Stopped by for the first time today, and received great service from Erasmo. Picked up up some wonderful Conchas to munch on, and even got some Red Chile Pork Tamales for dinner! They smell wonderful, and are making it really difficult to wait until dinner! And if I eat them all (and I could), the girlfriend will be most unhappy with me. So I ate two of the Conchas instead! lol! Great, friendly people and the baked goods they make are terrific!

Bought my pan dulce on a Friday morning. I grew up in Cali on pan dulce. All of the pan dulce was soft and fresh! Also bought a cup of champurrado since it is the season for it! Will be a regular customer!

Came here because i was craving pan Mexicano. It looked promising because they had all the classics. The most stale pan I've ever had. I even asked the girl that worked there if the bread was freshly made today and she said yes. Inedible. Do not go here. Can't believe they are even selling this stuff.
