This is an odd little place but the food is plentiful, fresh, reasonably priced, and quite delicious. I was especially impressed with the handmade flour tortillas. The staff is friendly, but not strong English speakers. Still, they took time to help me get my takeout order just right. Note: They close at 5:00 pm and have no website.

OK, so the carnitas are OK. Nothing to rave about. Maybe it's just me but I'm used to real carnitas these feel more like Al Pastor. The flavor was OK but what turned me off the most was what the actual inside of the place looks like. If the inside or outside of a restaurant looks bad, I can only imagine what the kitchen looks like. Dirty, dingy, musty. Will not be eating here again.

Great meal. I had the burrito and tostada. The green salsa, although extra, was very good and a nice accent for the meal. The salsa order also comes with a bowl of onions. I was disappointed no guacamole but oh well.I don't think it is open much past 5 or 6. So it appears to be mostly a lunch place. The decor is basic but check out the Coca Cola memorabilia. I'd go back, definitely.

Went this morning ordered beans and barbacoa to go. I got home and I got rice and beans mixed in same box. I called and the lady just said you can come and pick up however I lived about 20 min away and she said ok well I'll just pay more attention. I guess customers aren't first here.

I took one star away for the loss of atmosphere seems a lot of changes have taken place new menus new personnel and what started out has now been taken over by the children. While they try to keep the food the same there a small touches that I've long been lost and to see the changes knowing what was here before is something one would have to adapt to. I very much appreciate that two of my favorite menu items that are not listed on their menu any longer upon my request was happily cooked to order as it had been years ago. I will note the sour cream is different it tastes more Americanized like Daisy brand or something. I also no longer need to rely on my Spanish to place my order or get around the store. Enjoying my new menu updates and photos of lunch that you can still get if you know how to ask. ;)

As a previous reviewer stated, "by Mexicans, for Mexicans." That statement sums it up perfectly. The building leaves much to be desired. I probably would never have set foot in here if it weren't for the rave reviews of the food. As an American, I was a bit put off by the dusty wares, and empty shelves in this little market. But, I strode forward, with an obvious hesitation in my step that caught the attention of the gentleman behind the counter who was quick to list off food that they had. We asked what his favorite was, and that was the torte de milanesa. It's simply a sandwich of thinly sliced steak which has been breaded and deep fried. The sandwich is topped with lettuce and tomato, queso fresca, avacado and a number of other things. And it was downright delicious. We almost immediately ordered another one. We also got two tamales which were right on the money. Absolutely perfect. While we were there, there were two Latino familes that came in, some average Joe's like ourselves along with quite a few business men. It was an odd mix, but these people are obviously in the know.We almost went back the very next day.

Only been here once, it was a couple weeks ago.No frills, counter order situation. You're coming here for the food. It was a little warm inside the day I was there. Not a sweat-box... just a little warm. It's an older building, maybe the ac struggles. Maybe those senoras in the kitchen get cold easily. Who knows.I got three tacos, cilantro and onion came separately in a cup. (is that a Ruskin thing?, the place down the street self-garnishes too)One salsa. (verde). It was fresh and served in the other cup. See what I mean here? No frills. BUT, I'm completely down with it. Tacos were individually rolled up in parchment and served in a plastic basket. And damned if that third and final taco wasn't still piping hot when I finally unwrapped it to eat. I like this method.Best reason to come here? Those tacos had so much meat.. I was happy after two, the third simply hastened a trip to tierra del siesta. From a price standpoint, it's pretty easy to eat here.I'll need to come back again and order some other stuff before upping from OK.

I have tried several Mexican restaurants since moving to Apollo Beach in March....this is my favorite! Although it is small and is located in a strip mall it is nice and clean inside and the food is delicious. This is my go to Mexican restaurant. The service and food is really good. Try them out I think you will agree

Our favorite items are the soups. The vegetable soup is always available. Shrimp soup is available on weekends. The vegetable soup is not vegetarian, it includes chunks of beef and beef bones. Another surprise for some is that the tacos are tightly rolled in the tortilla. The chicken tacos are bland enough for kids and unadventurous visitors we're feeding. They are packed at lunch time and orders often take 30 minutes or more due to the backup. Call first for carryout or you could be waiting a long time.
