La Calentana Mexican Store and Restaurant is a small market with a few food trucks outside. Service is friendly, but the ordering and paying process is a little awkward. You order at the truck and then go inside the market and pay.I ordered lamb, asada and chorizo tacos and all were good. It came with both a green and red sauce and both were very good, though I liked the red a bit more. They have tables outside and it was pleasant enough to hang out and enjoy my tacos.Prices were great, as well. Five tacos were just over eleven dollars tax included. All in all, I would definitely recommend La Calentana Mexican Store and Restaurant. I will give it five stars overall.

We ordered tortas and tacos. One torta was asada and the other was pollo- both were very good. The tacos al pastor were horrible- do not order Al Pastor meat here, the marinade is bad and it was burnt. The cóctel de fruta was very good with fresh, ripe fruit.

Wrote my first review of La Calentana 3.5 years ago. Being from California, with a wife from San Diego, and having been on missions trips to Tijuana where you can find the best tacos in the world, finding great tacos was a must after our move to Florida. For years, La Calentana, 40 minutes from our home, has been that place. My wife and I sent our kids to California to visit grandma. The little brats took a picture of tacos from our favorite taco place in the world, showing they were having tacos and we weren't. So wife and I got in the car, drove to La Calentana, and got tacos. We expanded our normal order and got rolled tacos and a shrimp taco. First, this is still the best place we have found from St. Augustine all the way down to Miami, to get tacos in Florida. The location has expanded as it should. They keep upgrading the taco area. Nice shade, more tables, and the added truck for those fruity drinks. The carne asada was even a little better than normal this time. The meat was super lean and flavorful. I read some of the people who complain about the thin sliced meat. PEOPLE, this is carne asada, not fajitas. Anyone who doesn't complains doesn't know Mexican food. Normally, I would say stick with the carne asada; it is sooooo good. However, and I can't believe I am saying this, I might split my order in the future between carne asada and the shrimp taco. Possibly the best shrimp taco I have had outside Tijuana. Different than what I had there, but dang, the flavor was outstanding. Least I forget, the rolled tacos, they appear to be hand made after you order them, so expect a little extra time. Seriously, though, do you understand the quality of service and food to have homemade rolled tacos? That should tell you all you need to know about La Calentana. It is easily the best tacos in Florida, that we have found, and it has been so for over 3.5 years. Go and enjoy. You can thank me later.

Really wanted tacos today and since my husband was out of town, mum and I went down Memorial and stopped at La Michoacana to try it out. I have read other's complaints that the place looks sketchy, but the store was clean enough (floor swept, counters wiped down, etc.), and the tables outside were clean. The people working there were super friendly and nice. The people buying food there were also friendly.Because of COVID-19, the ordering/paying situation has changed from previous times. You can still order at the food truck and then pay inside the store, but there will be no payments of any kind taken at the food truck now (they used to take cash only) OR you can just save time and go straight into the store and give your order to the cashier and pay her and then give your ticket order to the food truck. There are tables in front of the food truck to eat at or just get your food to go. Mum ordered the flauta dinner. She loved it. There was a salad (lettuce, tomato, avocado, cheese) on top of the five fried chicken flautas, on top of pickled veggies, along with rice and beans. We both thought the rice rather amusing, it had corn, peas, carrots and green beans, much like a fried rice? It had a nice flavor though and went very well with the refried black beans. Loved the black beans. First place in a while that I can recall that served refried black beans, one of my faves.I ordered a side of rice and a side of beans, and luckily the young lady (cashier) that took my order talked me into the small half & half order (not on menu) or I would have ended up with a lot more than I wanted. At last - TACOS! This is what I came here for. I ordered three. I love the fact that they come almost any way you want. Corn or flour tortilla, Mexican or American, and lots of different meat.I chose my favorite - carnitas (pork roast) and tried the barbacoas (lamb) both in corn tortilla, Mexican style. Then, I ordered a pollo Americanos taco just for the heck of it.So which was the best? NO! Don't make me choose! Both the pork and the lamb were juicy and tender and seasoned very differently. The corn tortilla, doubled up for "safety", was soft and didn't tear. The Americano taco had ground chicken which had good flavor. The fillings were very generous (nice slices of avocado, hubba hubba), and the flour tortilla was grilled lightly - pliable but crisp. (The Americano taco $2.99 was almost twice the price as a Mexican one $1.50, but it was almost twice the size and had a lot more "stuff" on it.)We had a 15 minute drive home but thanks to the foil, everything was still a nice temperature and we enjoyed it.My meal (3 tacos, and the rice/bean combo) cost me less than $8 and was totally worth it. Next time, I will probably get a whole side of beans and split them with mum or hubby. Definitely sticking with three tacos. Perfect size. So many meat combinations to choose from to try.

With out a doubt, this was the best Mexican food I've had since leaving Chicago 3 years ago. We shared the Flauta's which were crunchy and tasty! They came with delicious rice & beans and pickled jalapeños. GREAT Hot sauces too!! We also had a Carne Asada Torta and a Carne Asada Burrito with some Very Delicious Horchata! It is what it is and deserves 5 stars. What a great tasty treat and in the words of 'Ahnold' "I'll be back"And to my followers, yes this is T-shirt worthy.

Not clean there was plates everywhere and they didn't even bother to clean it up. There was no shade and the tarp was on the floor.

Five stars for amazing tacos, superb value and quick service. My girlfriend and I were on our way to Tampa from Orlando and wanted to stop for a quick snack. Oh boy are we glad we decided to go to La Michoacana. La Michoacana is basically a magical food truck parked next to a small latin supermarket. You go to the truck window and place your order, then go inside the supermarket to pay for your order and may be get some drinks to go with your delicious tacos (jarritos soda). Once you come out they call the number on your ticket, for us it was less than a minute wait. We ordered 8 tacos for both of us 4 an 4 ranging from barbacoa, chicken, al Pastor. The tacos are served in the traditional Mexican way, they are served on two soft corn tortillas and topped with cilantro and onions and lime and green sauce on the side. Tables have salt, pepper and hot sauce (Valentina). The tacos are absolutely delicious and although they are small they are filling. It's the best snack if you are on the road and want to make a quick stop. It is only about 5 min from I4.Can't wait to come back and try the other items on the menu!
