5 stars for the Thai food, 4 for the sushi. It looked like a nice spot to dine in at but we took our food to go. Service was quick and everything was delicious! Would definitely recommend and come back!

This is probably my 6th visit over the years. The food is outstanding but the service is sometimes hit or miss. Tonight our group ordered Pad Thai wings, beef pad Thai, miso soup, and beef massaman curry. All were a 10/10 easily. Tonight was a miss night for service. We were brought 2 cokes even though we ordered 1 coke and a sangria. We never got a refill or received water and waited awhile to get our check. Had the service been better, it would have earned 5 stars.

I debated giving them 2 or 3 stars in my amended review, but decided on 3 because it didn't stink - it just wasn't up to the 5 (+ if I could have) stars from our previous experiences. Upon walking in I noticed 3 glaring things: 1.) The humidity inside the place hit me right away - like there was a back door open, the air wasn't set to whatever was the norm before - which was comfortable, or the a/c was broken altogether. 2.) The music was LOUD. I mean before the ambiance was peaceful. This was not. Even my seat mate commented on it. 3.) The tables were all askew, when before it was pristine. One of the things I appreciated was the cleanliness and attention to detail. I mean come on... what restaurant doesn't push the chairs back under the table after they wipe everything down? And none of the normal 'condiments' were on the table, as was the norm. When we were placing out order I could tell immediately the gentleman did not know their menu. AT ALL. We had to repeat all our choices 2 and 3 times and he had to consult the menu we were looking at each time. By way of confirming everything I'd noticed right away, he told us the restaurant was under new management. Ah. That explains things. But as they were working off the same exact menu, I gave the benefit of the doubt that my order would be right. It definitely was NOT Thai hot as I had requested. One of my seatmates orders wasn't even Thai hot adjacent, and he likes his food to the same level I do. Our third seatmate didn't get the correct order at all - completely wrong dish, but it was something he had briefly thought about ordering so he said nothing and ate and enjoyed it. It just wasn't right. Our normal sushi order, the Volcano Roll was half the size it had been all those other times, and it wasn't rolled as tightly or cut as uniformly, which was disappointing as our table of 3 was splitting it, as well as a Tampa Roll, which had the same issues. I couldn't eat any of it because even though I said no sesame seeds, because I can't eat them (I have diverticulitis, not an allergy or dislike of sesame), there were seeds all over both rolls. But again, I had a whole meal to eat so it wasn't worth complaining over. We live nearly 20 miles away, so this is a haul for us to go to this restaurant, when we must pass 30 other ones on our way to this one. But we always made the trek a couple of times a month, on occasion, every week! We won't be doing that again. We may stop at it again if we're in the area and are hungry for Thai - we just won't go out of our way for it. Such a bummer.

AUTHENTIC THAI FOOD.This is KAO THAI.Being here was returning to a country where I knew what to expect, but even more. This was the style of the region, where each cart on the street had individuals cooking the same food items, but each was different as it was based on the cook at the oven making it. It was truly the style of the chef and their recipe for something we take for granted. Kao Thai does this.Kao Thai is special in that it uses the tastes and style of cooking that is unique when you travel through Thailand. Go beyond Bangkok and Phuket, and you will see regions that have the same items but in their unique way of making them happen. What you find in the North is different than what you taste in the South. But both have the same ingredients.Of course, the first thing we started with was ordering THAI TEA. This was iced, which is very traditional even when you stop in Bangkok. Here, it is fresh. The tea is perfect. The ice is right. But the sweetness and taste is different than ice tea we get here. This is the way you find it there. And it isfresher. The taste and sweetness is ideal on a warm day. And a good way to start. After looking at the menu we made our selection and then waited. Everything is freshly cooked in the kitchen, which you can see when sitting. The chef and team are making everything that was ordered. First up for us was the CRISPY TOFU with Peanut Sauce for dipping. The tofu is truly breaded a bit and friends accordingly. Nothing else. The cubes are perfect so that you can pick one up and eat it with one bite. That is it. Of course you want to dip it in the peanut sauce dip. This dip alone can be used on a slice of bread for breakfast.Along with this we decided on a TUNA MAKI roll wrapped in Nori sheet. The tuna was fresh that day. The rice was ideal since it is cooked in the traditional style. There is no spice as you have soy sauce to dip it in. It is all there. We also had SPRING GARDEN ROLLS. This was freshly made in a stuffed paper lettuce leaf and filled with carrots, mint, cucumber and some peanut sauce. It also had a few pieces of fresh cooked shrimp to add flavor and weight. When the first appetizers were finished we waited to see what the next course would bring. And we did not have to wait too long for that. First to arrive was the KAO KOOK KA PI. This is a special combination of shrimp fried rice, vegetables, caramelized pork belly, Thai sweet sausage, onions, egg, apple slices, and string beans. It is very different. This collection was developed in several ways and then placed in the combination on the plate that was different. I had not seen this since leaving Thailand several years ago.Next we had, GANG KHEW WHAN, which is a Green Curry that you do not find in many places. It is another specialty of Thailand. The curry is creamy and warm. There is a touch of spice within it. It is mixed with vegetables, eggplant, peppers and string beans. It had an addition of tofu as well, which is ideal for curry. Being in Kao Thai meant having another regional delicacy that you can only find when you are in the southern part of Thailand. KA NOM JEEN NAM YA (Southern Thai Curry Noodles), is a special dish to ask for. It is truly made the way you would have it there. It is a combination of pureed tuna in yellow coconut curry, string beans, pickled mustard and a mix of some vegetables. This is what you would find in a home.Another special dish arrived and it is PAD KEE MAO. This is another traditional dish with a spicy touch added to it. It is wide rice noodles that are stir fried with chili basil sauce. This is then combined with bell peppers, onions, sliced small corn, and some shredded chicken. Of course, there is PAD THAI. Stir fried rice noodles, egge, bean sprouts, scallions and a dash of ground peanuts. You can add some hot sauce to give you more flavor if that is what you wish.FOR DESSERT WE HAD MANGO BLACK STICKY RICE. it was cooked a certain way to make it warm and darker in colors. Then it was topped with sliced mangos that were at room temperature. It was sweet, tasty, firm, with a touch of the flavor of mango.Kao Thai brings authentic taste with a modern twist on classic dishes. Family owned, it was founded by two inspired people from Northern and Southern parts of Thailand. They are passionate about cooking with fresh and high quality ingredients to perfect the authentic taste of Thai cuisine. Together, they feature their local popular dishes on the menu, combining dishes into one meal with tastes, styles, spice and more.A GREAT STAFF. GREAT SELECTION. GREAT PRICE. GOOD PORTIONS.Kao Thai is Thai. Here.

Not a very friendly waitress but great soups although the crispy duck was soggy. May give them a second chance but so many other places to try before returning.

I need not to forget about this Thai restaurant. It was so good. I'm still remembering how much I loved it there. I feel like they definitely have different menu options compared to the usual traditional Thai dishes you see everywhere. I ordered a chicken tom kha soup, shrimp in a pot and my hubby ordered the Thai fried chicken here. Seriously so many unique flavors from this food.Service was great and welcoming and it's a nice cool spot. It wasn't crowded at all when we went.I need to go back here!! Definitely a place I will want to try more from.

My companion and I have been to this restaurant nearly a year ago. We decided to return and try the Tom Kha Gai and garden rolls (aka Summer Rolls aka Spring Rolls). The waitress greeted us as we walked in and we were immediately seated. The restaurant was fairly empty and the service was prompt. The restaurant was fairly quiet with light, jazz music playing in the background. Very easy to communicate and the tables were not too tight. We ordered two cups of the Tom Kha, which was the whole point of going. If a Thai restaurant does a good Tom Kha you're usually gonna have a good meal. The Tom Kha was creamy and had the right amount of lemongrass and Galangal. Very good. The garden rolls were interesting, but very tasty. For starters, they did not have the vermicelli and it came sliced, almost like sushi. The greens inside coupled with the shrimp and peanut sauce was very good. In fact, when we next make these at home, we may leave out the vermicelli. We split the monster roll as our appetizer. The fish was fresh as was the crab. The shrimp was lightly fried. We are planning on coming back again to try some of the other items on the menu that looked as good.

Love their wings! Can't find any wings like these that are Asian inspired. Their sushi is decently good.

Not great, it tasted like they don't know what Thai food tastes like, the flavor was weird and all over the place. I ordered on Uber eats so and hopefully they're better in person. The Tom yum tasted really sweet (why???) and had zero balance in flavor (no salty, sour, spicy). I couldn't do more than a few bites, it was just bad.The pad see ew was okay and I enjoyed the slight char on the noodles (which is usually a plus, it adds a lot texturally to the dish).I also got tom kha which had chicken that was very tender, but again, the flavor was not at all the flavor of tom kha.If you want an interesting take on Thai food, this is it. But if you go into a meal here with the expectation that the dishes will resemble what they're supposed to, just be prepared for a different experience.

What a cute place. We did a quick stop for lunch and boy they were quick. The service was fast and great!! She helped me know what was vegan and allergy friendly. The food was very tasty. And the presentation was pretty.
