Kanji Sushi & Ramen

We decided last minute to go out for Valentine's Day dinner and I knew wouldn't be able to get into any of the hot spots in Tampa so I hopped on yelp to look for a new sushi spot to try. Happened upon Kanji and read some reviews and decided to give it a try. We got there pretty early in the evening and didn't have a wait for a table which was perfect. The ambiance is really nice, very tastefully decorated. We sat at a table in the middle and I really liked the seats being slightly padded. It was a nice surprise. We began with two mocktails / the Mango Lemons (really good) and Strawberry Lychee Yogurt (also good but mellow) and two appetizers. A shrimp/veggie tempura and sashimi. The sashimi was fresh and delicious, tempura was typical tempura.I ordered a spicy tuna hand roll, and their Valentines roll. My husband ordered Spiderweb, rainbow and a spicy tuna roll. Everything was delicious and came out with great timing. Service was excellent from the moment we entered until we left. We will def go back and want to take some fellow sushi loving friends! Some prices are a little higher than normal but the typical rolls are pretty average priced. I want to come back and try some ramen and a bun since I saw some great reviews for those items as well.

My favorite sushi and ramen spot in the Tampa Bay area! The decor is amazing, and not what you would come to expect in Brandon. Seating is ample and comfortable! The management and staff are very friendly and provide amazing service.The food is amazing. We love trying all of their new dishes and always come back for our favorites! Their sashimi is amazing and fresh! If you've never had sashimi melt in your mouth, you haven't experienced good quality sashimi. We were craving some sushi but didn't want to drive too far out. This was nearby and they did not disappoint. Our server was very attentive. Noticed I went to the restroom so waited until I returned to give us fresh warm towels for our hands. I feel like a hidden gem for Brandon bc I don't hear a lot of people talk about it. Decor is very nice on the inside. It's giving upscale or modern diner vibes with a Japanese twist. Really love that they put the effort in to have branded plates, soy sauce dishes, napkins AND quality bamboo chopsticks. I really hate cheap bamboo chopsticks bc they splinter. Quite a large menu. Happy hour menu has a lot of options that are good! The Mentaiko fries are a must!! So gooood! Yakitori skewers during HH too! The lychee martini was delish We also wanted to try the Oki oysters. Kind of crazy to pay $9 per oyster but these Japanese oysters are MASSIVE. They were cut into more manageable bite size pieces. I had essentially three bites of oyster. Super yummy and if you are big on raw oysters this will hit the spot. Sakana crisps come assorted. The rice was actually crispy. 10/10 for sure would get this again. I believe there was spicy crab mix, tuna, salmon, yellow tail, and the a mix. For the hand rolls we ordered. Spicy yellowtail with jalapeno and Spicy salmon with tobiko. These I wouldn't order too many at once bc the seaweed gets soft as it sits. So ordering two at a time is good. Mexican rolls was pretty standard. And lastly the gizzard yakitori has like this smoky seasoned taste to it that is just so addicting. I love the texture of gizzard but I know that it's not for everyone. They have plenty of other options.

When I tell you this location owes me nothing ! I'm mad at myself it took me this long to go there ! This is my new favorite location and it's right by the house ! They have a really good happy hour menu ! The location is beautiful the bar look relaxing as well ! My service was great I wish I could remember her name cause it was beautiful ! She had a cute bob cut ! The food ! The fooooood ! So good ! I'm a sucker for some good sushi and it was on point ! My cocktail was great too ! Very refreshing ! I can't wait to make it back for happy hour and dinner . Ohhh and they have a rewards program as well by just signing up via text ! You can get some pretty good discount at check out or maybe even more !

This is a great sushi restaurant. They have incredible rolls. My server (Aude) was incredible, she gave great recommendations, and was very attentive and courteous. I highly recommend the Wagyu Roll. It's made with certified Japanese A5 Wagyu, and has great flavor.I moved to the bar, after my meal. The bartender (Kayleigh) was exceptional, and went the extra mile to make drinks I special requested. This restaurant is remarkable, and I highly recommend it.

Kanji is an amazing and wonderful restaurant. The team led by Kyle and Hedy will amaze you and work so hard to delight you. The Asian people from multiple countries take their time to ensure your happiness. The exquisite diversity of the service will tantalize your palette and blow away your eating expectations. My wife and I are very happy to be part of their patron family. We learn about their cuisine and their culture with every visit. You and your family should experience this wonderful restaurant. I'm always on the hunt for a good ramen shop. This refurbished building lives up to the hype. It's laid out with a sushi bar and open table seating. I've not been there when it's packed but I can imagine that it could get a bit loud. The hot towel before you order is a nice touch. They also welcome you in Japanese.The staff is friendly and is always there to fulfill your needs. There's a good selection of Japanese favorites like ramen, sushi, and yakitori. There are a few things I think are missing. They serve gyudon but not oyakodon. I think there also should be some other authentic sushi rolls like kampyo. I did mention it to the manager who seemed receptive to the additions. I had my go to ramen which is the tonkatsu ramen. It had a nice broth and the presentation was excellent. This place should be on your list of places to try.

Kanji is kind of a far drive from my house but it's always a must stop if I'm in the area. The sushi and quality of fish are always very fresh and I never feel like I'm being served something that may make me sick. Im not a drinker but I always say their house speciality drinks always tempt me! They have some really interesting cocktails that all have an Asian flare to them.The ramen! The ramen is the best in the Tampa Bay Area in my opinion. The broths aren't overly salty and the options are pretty vast! And this is coming from someone who doesn't like ramen at all lol

First time here. Stated with the shrimp tempura. Lovely presentation and delicious. Batter was very good not greasy and stayed on everything. Had the kanji ramen. Broth was silky and deep flavor. Noodles cooked just right and everything in the soup was really nice full of flavor. Overall just a nice bowl of ramen
