CURRIED CHICKEN

Okay, let me just start by saying -- if food could marry me, oxtail and chicken stew would be standing at the altar right now. And let me tell you, this is not just a fling. This is a full-blown, "I'm telling everyone about this" kind of love.First, there's the oxtail. Every time I take a bite, it's like the universe stops for a second to give me a nod of approval. The meat is so tender, it practically falls off the bone like it's trying to be the most polite piece of food ever. You don't need a knife for this. Heck, you barely need to chew. The richness of the stew it's swimming in? It's like a savory, meaty blanket that makes you want to wrap yourself in it. Seriously, if comfort food had a mascot, it would be oxtail. Now, the chicken stew. Oh, the chicken stew. It's like that one friend who's always there for you, no matter what. Warm, hearty, and just spicy enough to make you feel alive, but not so spicy that you're questioning your life choices. The chicken is so tender, it practically melts in your mouth. And the sauce? Oh, the sauce. It's so flavorful, I'm pretty sure it could solve world peace if given the chance.Together, oxtail and chicken stew are the ultimate duo -- like peanut butter and jelly, or Netflix and a comfy blanket. They just belong together, and I'm here for it. I don't care who knows it. I'm in a committed relationship with these two, and I wouldn't have it any other way.

Jerk Hut, I used to go there when it was on Gandy near Manhattan. Then, it moved to Gandy and Dale Mabry. A friend of mine told me about an app called Too Good To Go. So, on Tuesday, I tried out the app and ordered from Jerk Hut. The thing is you don't know what dinner you will. I arrived at Jerk Hut and my dinner was packaged up. I got in the car, opened it and saw that it was Curry chicken with rice and beans and cabbage. It was so good and I had enough for lunch the next day. If you have never been, go try Jerk Hut.

The Jerk Hut has re-established its South Tampa presence by opening a gas station take-out location. Sadly, there's no longer a drive-thru, but it's pretty fast to order ahead and run inside the gas station bodega to pick up your order. They have all the usual Jamaican dishes that are on the other Jerk Hut location menus -- jerk chicken, jerk pork, curry chicken, curry goat, patties, rice and peas. In the last year, prices have gone up. I'm assuming a lot of this has to do with cost of materials and labor as well as higher rent at this location compared to their previous drive-thru location. Super bummer, but portions are pretty big, enough for more than a meal (for me).

This is my second time at the location and they never disappoint. The service is always friendly and the food is on point. You get a generous portion of food. Nika was amazing and very knowledgeable and sweet. I will most definitely be back before I leave FL. Thanks Nika!!!

Customer service is good but their curry gravy tastes water based lol. I mean the curry goat and chicken was yellow but it lacked flavor. Tastes like they prepared a special batch for diabetics or something. Roti wrap curry goat tastes like deception, they used the equivalent of half a loaf of roti bread to wrap 4 teaspoons of curry goat. I literally had to cut off most of the roti and toss it which broke my heart. I've tried the place twice and unfortunately it just doesn't hit the spot compared to some other local places. The good news is it's in a gas station so you can season your taste buds with Doritos to fill the void from the lackluster curry
