Corn bread heaven. Legitimately the best ever!! I love the curry shrimp! I like everything really... order anything you want here because it's the best in town!!Down home, amazing female owner and boy they can COOK. Just try this place.

I've been to Jamaica a couple times and each time fell in love with the cuisine. This is one of the best places I've found outside of Jamaica. The food is fresh, hot, and delicious. The seasoning is completely on point and super authentic (from the knowledge I have, obviously not being Jamaican). The service is perfect. He was super nice and explained everything to me that they had. The location is interesting and parking is hard to find since it's right on the side of the road. The vibe of the place is that of a "hole in the wall". I wouldn't say it's health department clean, but it's also not horribly dirty. Honestly, I wouldn't want it to be another way. If you love Jamaican food you should RUN here!

This is the first restaurant that nailed every dish...YUMMY HIGHLY RECOMMENDED NOT TO MENTION GREAT SERVICE AS WELL!!!!!

We drove by here the other day and the sign caught my eye and we immediately turned around. The Jamacian & American Cafe did not disappoint! Who knew there was good Jamacian food this close to home? In a relaxed and casual atmosphere this cafe is a family operation. The menu varies per day but I imagine there is usually a great amount of options. It appears that there is only street parking but I didn't ask. Oops.We got takeout jerk and curry chicken (comes with potato chunks) with some sides. The $5 lunch special includes your choice of meat over rice and one side, the regular size consists of one meat over rice and two sides, and the large size included meat over rice and three sides. We hear the Mac and cheese is good and it must be, for when we went by shortly after lunch it was all sold out. The chicken had great flavor and slices and the cabbage, collard greens, and okra sides were very good. I couldn't finish my meal in one sitting :) I will return when I'm in the mood for some hearty, home cooked grub. I hope to try the snapper on a subsequent visit (priced according to size). If your looking for authentic Jamaican food, I highly recommend coming here. I ordered the oxtail's and my boyfriend ordered the jerk chicken. Everything was amazing and the staff was really nice!

I love this establishment. It makes my life a little bit easier eating some of the best Jamaican food Tampa has to offer. Their food quality is consistent. You can't go wrong picking any item off their menu !

Loveeee this place. Great hole in the wall sport with authentic Jamaican food. I've only had the oxtails, plantains, and yams but they were amazing. The yams taste just like my grandmas so it was a nice taste of home. Oxtails are very tender and slow cooker with potatoes and carrots. Peas and rice come with the meal and they're good as well. Highly recommend if you're looking for some bomb Jamaican food in Tampa.

Very basic, Caribbean/Jamaican cafe. Mostly take out and not all menu-listed dishes are prepared every day.....so you select from dishes prepared by rotation, including jerk chicken, BBQ pork, curried goat, curried shrimp. Sides are heavy on rice/peas/beans plus some well-stewed greens & other veggies. No al dente here, but home-like cooking if you are from the islands. Prices are reasonable, service is friendly but not even a nod towards being a slick, upscale place. Best for lunches to go, but lingering to inhale the smoke & other fine aromas while waiting.

Tasty little hole in the wall. The food was pretty good. The portions were generous. The service was polite and fast. I do recommend ordering to go, though. It's quite dusty and the decor/furniture is very dated. I had the snapper, mac and cheese, and cabbage and I was not disappointed. Go try and see!
