House of Meats

I tend to shop here for my produce and meat that I would not normally find in the Walmarts and Publix, Sam's Clubs. It's a great place to get bulk meat as well. The butchers are super helpful every time I go. The neighborhood is less than the desirable but the service inside is great.

I can generally find what I need at this store. They have lots of meats that you can't find Publix or some other chain grocery store. I would venture out and say they specialize in 'ethnic' items such as spices and other specialty items. The store itself is not very upgraded or clean but the products are worth it. The dry items are to your left when you walk in, the produce is on the right, the frozen foods are in the back and the fresh meats are directly to the rear of the store. They accept credit and cash. I noticed that a lot of the shopping carts outside were from other stores, stolen maybe? Lol. It's not in the best neighbor but it definitely serves its purpose. I have been here several times but this is my first review. Also the same Hispanic lady is usually running the cash register and she is very nice but you can tell that she gets a little tired of dealing with people all day lol.

House of Meats provides hard to find Caribbean specialties. The meat case is full of great stuff and the freezer section is something else! Need goat head? Well they've got it. Conch, yup. Parrot fish, sure. Pretty much anything you can dream of can be found wrapped up tightly and stored snugly in the freezers here.The produce selection is small but good. The dry goods section is not bad either, but they really do specialize in MEAT!

House of Meats has standard poultry, pork, beef and fish for your common needs. I love this place because it the store provides discounted prices on meats. They have deals where you can purchase up to 4 different types of meats for $20. That's roughly between 15 lbs and 20 lbs of meat for only $20 and tax. That is an amazing deal compared to $40 that you could have spent at Publix or Walmart. The store is in good proximity, very close to home and school. The lines at the register can get long at times but the service is always at its best. House of Meats accepts cash, card and EBT.

Love this place. Everyone is nice. The neighborhood isn't great but it is one of the only places in Tampa where u can get ethnic seasonings and products.

One of the things that is my favorite there is the flanklin ribs, the crosscut ribs. They also have goat, rabbit, lamb, parrot fish, king fish, conch, etc. Its really hard to beat the selection, and the prices are the best in town as well. a 40lb box of chicken leg quarters for $12, 30 cents a pound. how can you beat that? Staff is very friendly and helpful as well. Their selection of spices, sauces and grains, flours and beans is also excellent.

They stole my food stamps off my card and know I have no food I am so sad I can't believe they did that to me I am devastated I use to shop there all of the time and buy my meats cause it's close to my house but I will never go back to that store

Everytime I go into this store they have what I'm shopping for. They are always busy but I'm satisfied with my purchases all the time.

This place has the worst customer service and horrible communication between workers and butchers. One person told us one price and didn't explain all the circumstances and the other was telling us a different price. They wanted to charge us 10 lbs of steak but only gave us 7.89 lbs of steak. Nobody weighed it in front of us we had to double check ourselves. Once we got our 10 lbs they wanted to charge us extra for the pound and said the price difference was because of a discount that we were not aware of which included or didn't include the fat. So here we are 30 minutes later arguing over what happened with the meat and the discount we had no idea about and left unhappy with how the manager didn't know how to handle the situation. Never coming back to this place.

So we went there very excited about purchasing some goat meat. However, we were so disappointed after we went home and cooked it. It was the worst meat we have ever cooked. Not sure it was goat meat because it took an hour to cook in a pressure cooker and did not taste like goat meat. I would love to know what "animal" we were sold.
