I have gotten cheese that has mold on it twice now. Cottage cheese that was bad and so on. Be careful keep grocery recipes and check them before walking out. It seems overtime I shop there they over charge me 4 chicken wings at the hot bar and they cried me 12 dollars for 4 stinking chicken wings. Thier excuse was she just have leand on the register. Be careful or just go to winn Dixie they are Harvey's store for the poor supposedly.

It used to be Winn Dixie, now it's Harvey's which I never heard of, but I'm going to assume it's a grocery store that caters to low income neighborhoods. I assume that since much of the changes that I've noticed involve limiting number of brands per item, taking away the more expensive, unique item brands, taking away unique, gourmet groceries, taking away or limiting specialty diet items (i.e. Gluten-Free) and replacing all with a basic 3 brand selection and installing a huge $1.00 section to take up almost 1/4 of the usual aisles..... despite the fact that there is a Dollar Tree right next to it and 3 other dollar stores within walking distance. If you didn't feel like an indigent with the retail offerings in this area before now, Harvey's went ahead and put up the Neon SIgn, "You Can ONLY Afford Dollar Store Items! No More Over Priced Gourmet Marinara For You!" This new Harvey's actually served as an eye opener for me as to the reputation of our surroundings for the past 5 years. I guess I noticed a little change, but not really. We're busy working and were happy to live close to Saddle Creek for fishing...Nonetheless, this was the catalyst for us moving out of the area by next month. Harvey's seems empty and cold to me now. However, you wouldn't know that judging from the management and employees, most carry overs from Winn Dixie. They are still as friendly, smiley and helpful as ever, seemingly unfazed by the changes around them, which is good. The stellar attitudes of the employees and management were the reasons I kept coming back to Winn Dixie and will be the reason I stop in at Harveys from time to time. It won't be to shop, that's for sure. If you really wanted to cater to people with your prices, the first logical step would be to lower the prices or meat and produce. But, that has not been the case. In fact, last time meat was higher priced than usual and still mostly in the dreaded bulk packaging as if everyone has a family of 8 to feed or freezer space that large. Simply eliminating brands and unique offerings did nothing for me except make me feel like I'm shopping in a foreign country or on the wrong side of the track. There's a vibe about the store now that I don't like. Regardless, I can't get my special Marinara I like for certain dishes, half my Chobani yogurt flavors are missing, I couldn't find Ginger or Cilantro last time... and most of all I cant get Chris special dietary foods for his Crohn's disease. I'm not a snobby shopper and I'm not wealthy. I just like to have premium brands available if I wanted. Now, I just feel embarrassed and "less than" shopping there. I don't like being at the store one little bit and grocery shopping used to be a fun, relaxing outing for me. Oh well, I've been meaning to get back to Publix. I'll pay extra to feel good about shopping again and to have the special items available just in case I can afford them this week. At least, I'll be able to buy chicken breasts in a two pack again, and have Boar's Head fresh honey ham, sliced thin, from the deli with fountain drinks and samples galore, fresh smelling flowers filling the air beside the bakery, and the nice baggers who won't take no for an answer nor a tip. It may be a little farther away, but I truly can't wait to shop at Publix again. Thanks , Harvey's for reminding me what I was missing. You can make an "affordable:" store still feel warm and cozy and have it be a good shopping experience where one doesn't feel low income or less than. Winn Dixie did a great job at that. Or you can have an affordable store make you feel bad about whatever circumstances have availed that you now have to shop at the indigent store. Harvey's does a good job at that. Mind you, it's absolutely not due to the employees. They are troopers that go with the flow and offer the best service still. They're not in charge of aesthetics, product choices, etc. Hopefully, the coldness and desperation of the store doesn't rub off on them and perhaps over time it will be vice versa.

THE RUDEST STAFF IVE EVER ENCOUNTERED IN ALL OF FLORIDA! Was directed to speak with upper management from an associate regarding a question I had, and once we found said manager he was BEYOND RUDE! He hardly took two seconds to stop pushing his cart to again completely ignore that I was speaking. WILL NEVER RETURN REGARDLESS OF PRODUCT DUE TO POOR CUSTOMER SERVICE.

I had a phenomenal first shopping experience here. Wide aisles, huge store, great product variety. For bargain shoppers who stretch dollars, it's a paradise!. I grabbed an 11 lb turkey for $3 with $30 in groceries (28c a pound). I came out with $60 in groceries! Great meat bargains--ham steaks half price, 8 hot dogs for $1, $5 rotisserie chicken. Many $1 items. You do have to be "price savvy"...some tricky non-deals (BOGO pecans that were small and really only 50c cheaper than huge ones in another brand). The clerks were super friendly & helpful, store was clean, items were bagged properly. I don't get this from my Winn Dixie! They have a fabulous $4 lunch special of hot entrée, side & roll. (meatloaf, lasagna, chicken breast)CON: There were several spillages that had not been cleaned up (yogurt, blue drink) and a dead motorized cart in the aisle. Entrance door is awkwardly located. Definitely will put this store on my rotation.

Harvey's Super Market2630 US HWY 92Lakeland, FL 33801 Winn Dixie left and Harvey's Supermarket took it's place. Here is a little information about Harvey's Supermarket:J.H. Harvey Co., LLC is a supermarket chain with stores in Georgia, Florida, South Carolina, and North Carolina. The majority of the Harveys stores are between 18,000 and 35,000 square feet (3,300 m2). The company is a subsidiary of Southeastern Grocers, which is headquartered in Jacksonville, Florida.Retail (Grocery)Founded1924 (94 years ago)HeadquartersJacksonville, Florida, U.S.Number of locations77Key peopleAnthony Hucker, President and CEOProductsGroceryNumber of employees4,400[1]Websitewww.harveyssupermarkets.comNow you know Harvey's a legitimate Supermarket I can tell you what I think of Harvey's. I love to shop in Harvey's because their employees are always helpful, nice and polite, some of the employees are the same people who worked at the Winn Dixie there before Harvey's moved in. When I heard Harvey's was coming in and taking over, I wondered if the prices would be lower or some what better. No worries, the prices are lower, and the package deals such as mix and match five items of meat, seafood, sandwiches, bacon, sausage, smoked ham lunch meat, large hotdogs, and things like Hushpuppies and more are a fantastic deal at $19.95! I mean where else do you find that kind of deal every single day, all year long? Maybe a meat market once in a blue moon you might find this kind of deal. I wondered also if I would recognize brands they had, no worries there either with brand I grew up with in my home state of Virginia, and states like North Carolina, West Virginia,Tennessee and Georgia, where I lived also. Many of the meat brands I grew up with, like Carolina brand meats, Virginia brand meats....and many more brands I know trust and love! I am so, so very happy to be able to buy these things once again and serve them to my family. My husband loves these recognized brands also, and actually got excited when he saw them. He said boy we ate these when I was growing up, how about you, are we getting this or that?! Of course I got what he and I wanted that first time in Harvey's!They have a One Dollar Section, that cannot be missed, you might not recognize the brands, but they are good and taste great! You can get large 4.5 oz bottles of spices, bacon bits. Soups, dip mixes, vegetables, Chips infact Wise Brand Chips are in the dollar section! You can get dollar bottles of drinks that are a nice size, like Arizona bottle drinks! In the Dollar Section there are too many bargains than there is time or room here to list. When you first come in Harvey's you see the section that has buy one get one deals that are great all the time. Yes Harvey's is geared to the lower income people, as the neighborhoods like Woodland Estates where we live, and also one of my daughters use to lived, and Combee Settlement where we have lived are also are low income, but that don't mean we who live and shop at Harvey's are bad people...We work hard and live within our means that is why we are happy for a supermarket like Harvey's in our neighborhood, low prices and wonderful deals that allow you to get more for your shopping dollar, and that's always a good thing. If you want to pay more and risk blowing your shopping budget big time, then go to Publix and shop. Nothing wrong with Publix, but it is a tad bit expensive for my food and house hold items shopping budget. Harvey's suits me and my family and friends who live in our neighborhood just fine! Low Income...So Be It! In these days and times you need a break every chance you get and Harvey's Supermarkets does just that for you! I can truly say Harvey's Get's it, and goes out of their way to make sure people get the best value for their shopping dollars! As for me I ain't fancy, and I know how to make my shopping dollars count! Because we shop mainly at Harvey's Supermarket, and the Dollar General and Hands Produce I can afford to get some extras to put into my husbands lunch and extras for that sweet tooth he has ! Oh don't get me started on the Hands Produce and the Combee Road Dollar General...I love both of these places too!Thank You Harvey's Supermarket for coming to our neighborhood, we have needed you for a very long time trust that, and now that you are here to stay I, my family and friends and neighbors have a great low price store that fits right in with our spending dollars! This reviews has been written by: Mrs. Donna Lee Avera Hunter
